About Jeff Harbit

I am a transplanted midwesterner from Iowa. I moved to Charleston in 1992 for the climate and to earn an advanced degree at MUSC. I am currently renovating a marsh front house on Seabrook Island that I purchased in 2016. It was during 2017 that I came upon 6 Dune Crest. My wife and I have spent as much time as we can during the summer out on Seabrook Island. We love it out here. I have been renovating homes and renting properties for 20+ years. I'm looking forward to having people stay in my Villa, Seabrook Island is a great place to vacation.. I'm offering the following to my guests.

Why Jeff Harbit chose Seabrook Island

6 Dune Crest is a very nice, very well kept 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 950 square foot elevated "Treehouse" villa, which was totally renovated in 2014. It is a beautiful, very private villa. It is a short walk to the Beach, Lakehouse and Clubhouse. It can accommodate 2 couples or a couple and 3-4 kids. It has a full kitchen, Keurig coffee maker, hardwood floors, ceiling fans in all the rooms, outdoor decking for sitting around, enjoy the surroundings in the evenings as you relax on the deck. It is a stand alone property with plenty of privacy. It is very economically priced when compared to staying at hotels and motels, which don't have many of the benefits of staying out at Seabrook Island.

What makes this villa unique

Seabrook Island is close to the lovely, historic city of Charleston. The resort is beautiful but private and is seldom crowed with people. The resort and the Charleston area offer plenty of things to do. You can stay on Seabrook and have plenty of interesting activities to do. No need to leave the Island, but if you decide to venture out, Charleston is only 25 minutes away thru an Oak Tree Canopy road.

This villa totals 950 square feet, it is secluded and private. It is a free-standing unit so you are not sharing a wall with a neighbor. The deck overlooks the 18th fairway of the Crooked Oaks Gold Course and offers lovely views of the lagoon and bridge over the lagoon where you will often see alligators sunning themselves or egrets fishing. it is very common to see deer and wild turkeys throughout the Island, at any time, day or nite. One of the most private , peaceful, best renovated and cozy villas on the Island.

The perfect getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

We had an unforgettable vacation at the treehouse! We loved the island and all the wildlife. My son lives in Charleston and was able to come and stay with us one night which was very convenient. The closeness to Charleston was wonderful to meet up with him other days too. The bikes were great to ride around the island! We loved the setting with all of the beautiful moss covered trees. Walking or riding bikes to the beach was pleasant. We hope to be back soon! Jeff was very helpful!

Cozy Villa

  • 5 of 5

The villa was very comfortable and the decor was very nice. There was a lot of natural light. The kitchen was well equipped with pots, pans, glassware, and utensils. There were plenty of towels and bikes were included. The beach was in walking distance.

The owner was attentive and very helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

Very Nice Dune Crest Villa "Tree House"

  • 4 of 5

This Dune Crest Villa is terrific...easy to find, great location to Club and Beaches. Everything is very new...the updating/remodel by the current owner is virtually complete, there's only one item in general that needs attention and that would be additional lighting (over kitchen sink, and perhaps a floor and table lamp in the main living area). I gave it a 4 instead of 5, for a couple of reasons: 1) All of my previous rentals at Seabrook Island (at least a dozen) included Club Amenity Cards as part of the rental agreement and this rental does not. 2) Be prepared to walk up about 3 flights of stairs (about 60 stairs in all) from the parking lot to enter this villa....not for the weak heart!! But once you're settled in, this place is great. You will not be disappointed.

Owner's Response: Steve, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I agree that I need to add a lamp or two and add a light over the sink, thanks for those comments. There are 24 steps from the parking lot to the top of the common area, there is another 16 steps from the ground to the elevated deck. Amenity cards. I thought long and hard about that issue. My decision was to keep my rates 13-26% less then my next door competitors Villa's who also don't provide amenity cards. This discounted rate more then makes up for the cost of buying a daily or weekly amenity card. Thanks again for the comments. Jeff

Clean, comfortable, and a bike ride away from the beach. 5/5 for the house and owner.

  • 5 of 5

This house is a modern take on a "treehouse". While it does seem small at initial glance, you will eventually find that it is indeed spacious and suits all of your needs. Upon stepping inside, you will notice how clean and well-managed this house is. To top it off, they have hardwood floors (yay!) as well as several sets of windows that open outwards to the wonderful scenery of Seabrook. My girlfriend and I did not mind that the view mainly overlooked the golf course since we spent most of our time at the beach. We loved how up-to-date the kitchen was, and especially loved eating outside on the patio. At night, you can turn on the lights that line the table umbrella for a romantic dining experience! The only critique we have for this place is that we wish there were more communal spices. They only have the basics: sugar, salt, and black pepper. Nevertheless, what especially sold us on this place and for future visits is how friendly and attentive Debby, the owner, was. I must start off by stating that my girlfriend and I willingly decided to continue as scheduled with our beach trip fully knowing that Hurricane Irma was projected to make landfall in South Carolina sometime in the coming week. This was a much, much needed escape from our careers and, as we were still several days out from any effects of the hurricane, would still remain in safety for the duration of our trip. Even so, Debby personally reached out to inform us of a potential evacuation from the moment we checked in and kept us updated along the way. We did end up having to evacuate early per town protocol, but Debby graciously allowed us to stay as long as possible to maximize our time at the beach. She also went above and beyond by refunding us for our ENTIRE trip minus cleaning fees as she felt awful for our inconvenience. All in all, this is a great place with a great owner. You will not find a more reliable household for a romantic getaway. Yes, it is a bike ride to the beach (walking is possible but may be strenuous for some), but this is overshadowed by Debby and her house, which makes you feel right at home. I will be DEFINITELY be coming back here, and potential customers you should give this place a try too!

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This tree house villa was the absolute perfect place for me and my kids to vacation at recently while visiting Charleston! It was close to the beach, and yet accessible to all the amazing attractions that Charleston has. It was clean, well stocked as far as kitchen pans, etc. and the place is a funky fun experience that my kids will remember for a lifetime. Debby, the owner, was prompt in replying to messages and extremely hospitable making sure everything was wonderful after our arrival. She was easy to work with and super helpful with directions, etc. I would highly recommend the Tree house for your stay!!

Quaint and unique 2-bedroom villa

  • 5 of 5

Yes there are beautiful magnificent homes on Seabrook Island, but this was really a nice down-to-Earth getaway gem. Perfect size for family of four, overall clean and smelled fresh, and had everything we needed to make our stay so comfortable including board games (we actually played even with our 12 year old son!), beach chairs, a boogie board (things we didn't haul down from Pennsylvania), and all the cooking supplies you need (really nice pots and pans), etc. When we first showed pictures to our children of this property, they were excited, but to see their faces when we pulled up to the villa, made us parents feel like rock-stars.

The fact that it's in the palm trees, overlooking a section of the golf course, and there's a nice breeze on the deck, truly exemplifies resort-living. Two-bedrooms and two-baths helped tremendously for showering the kids after beach and pool.

In regards to the Island itself, renting bikes was so much fun; we rode up to Freshfields to shop and get provisions, and rode bikes every day down to the beach. One day, we almost had The Lakehouse pool exclusively to ourselves. The pool next to the clubhouse got really busy, so we spent our time on the beach - magnificent, clean, no seaweed, found a sand dollar, not over-crowded, beautiful beach.

Lastly, don't forget to bring some sort of bug-spray or natural oils to try to out-smart the bugs. Perhaps depending on the time of year you are there will effect the outcome of mosquitoes, but for us, we encountered plenty. It had also rained quite a bit. Just standing to unlock our bikes in the morning, we each got bit multiple times,so just beware.

Overall, as we were leaving, we all agreed we would definitely come back.
