Way too many personal items and not for families with young children.
We told the owner there would be 5 adults and 3 children. There was no bed for the 3rd child. The pull out couch on the screened porch could not be used due to rain and no AC out there, so the smallest child slept with his parent. There was no new soap & no tissues. Soap that was in the showers was clearly used. Worst was that the owner's personal items were everywhere. No room for our things. No closet space & no drawer space. We moved her things as best we could. Breakable antiques were within easy reach of children. We were constantly saying, "Don't touch that". Example: porcelain doll in a toy crib on the floor. Formal dresses were hung on every door; 3 were in one bathroom alone. Nothing got damaged but we were diligent in keeping the kids outdoors except for meals and bedtime, or away from the house most of the time. The indoor table was not sized for 8 people and there were only 5 chairs so we ate in shifts. Coffee pot was small. Held 2 cups so we made coffee in shifts also. Fridge and freezer were nearly full of her food. All cupboards were full. One person commented that it looked like she was decorating for a Shabby Chic photo shoot - not for rental guests. Bedrooms were carpeted in white. All furniture was covered in white or pastels. We were afraid of leaving sand anywhere. No broom or vacuum available. The owner should have clearly stated "not suitable for families with young children". It seemed she had no concept of how to set up an VRBO. That being said, the house was roomy, clean, and attractive, and the yard was absolutely beautiful. The location was very convenient to everything. We chose this house mainly for the 3 bedrooms and 3 full baths, however the bath with the tub could not be used for showers as there was no shower curtain so we ended up sharing showers in the other 2 bathrooms. This was our 1st experience with a VRBO. We're not at all sure we would do it again. We ended up having a fun vacation and plan to come back to Pentwater, but we will stay somewhere else. For the high price we expected something different. The property needed better representation.
