About the property

3 Bedrooms 1 Bath, Sleeps 7

Enjoy our beautiful authentic 1950's log home on 65 feet of private lake frontage on the 'quiet side' of Silver Lake. Decorated with treasures from the family farm, the cabin is cozy and quaint with hardwood floors, handcrafted log, hickory and pine furnishings, leather sofa and love seat and maple cabinets.

The kitchen is bright and cheery and is well stocked with all the pots and pans you will need, including a coffee pot. The dining area has a beautiful handmade hickory table. In the living room is a Vermont Castings gas stove with a glass front for those evenings when you want to sit by the fire.

The cabin, with its original logs and chinking throughout, sleeps up to seven people.

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A $40 PER PERSON CHARGE FOR OVER 4.

The sleeping arrangements are: two queen bedrooms, both beds are fitted with luxury mattress covers and bedding.

The bunk room facing the lake features new adult size cedar log bunk beds (the bunk room is not air conditioned) and a twin roll away bed.

All linens and towels are provided. We give you a starter paper supplies kit which includes a few paper towels and toilet paper rolls.

For the angler, enjoy good fishing. Bass, bluegill, perch, pike, sunfish, and walleye. We provide an aluminum boat with oars (no motor allowed), or you can rent the pontoon boat. There is a lakeside deck with patio furniture and a gas grill for outdoor eating where you can enjoy the spectacular sunsets after dinner. There is a sandy beach and fire-pit. Firewood is available at several roadside stands or the nearby campground.

PLEASE NOTE: PONTOON RENTAL IS REQUIRED DURING JULY & AUGUST RENTALS. SORRY NO EXCEPTIONS

Our guests receive the boat at substantial discounts from the regular local rates.

We know you will enjoy your stay in what we like to call 'our little treasure.'

About Emily Burritt

We love to travel and have done so extensively with our two children. We have logged over 20,000 miles in our RV while taking our children to all fifty states. Traverse City is still considered one of the most beautiful places in the country in our book. We always look forward to spending time at the cabin because it is such a cozy and peaceful place.

Emily Burritt purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Emily Burritt chose Northwest

As a native of Traverse City, I grew up enjoying the lakes around the area. I was thrilled when Kurt and I had the chance to buy this log cabin. We worked hard to update it by adding modern amenities without losing the character and charm and that 'up-north' feel. It is just ten minutes to downtown Traverse City, yet you feel like you are away from it all. Traverse City offers such a great quality of life along with many wonderful local shops and restaurants to enjoy.

What makes this cabin unique

A quiet and peaceful setting on the East side of Silver Lake. Our favorite thing to do during our stay at the cabin is pack up a picnic lunch and take a cruise around the lake on the pontoon boat. With the boat conveniently docked at the private sandy beach, there is little effort to enjoying the beauty of Silver Lake. This pristine, all sports lake, is the closest lake to Traverse City with easy access to everything. Our evenings usually consist of cooking delicious steaks from our family market, Burritt's Fresh Market while watching the fabulous sunsets. We always end the evening with a campfire next to the lake listening to the frogs and loons. Life doesn't get any better than that!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time on Silver Lake. The cabin was very cozy and we liked the backyard. We liked going to the sand dunes, visiting the towns and boating on the lake. Everything was nearby too. Thanks for making your house perfect for our vacation!

Lovely log Cabin Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The memories of our week at the log cabin will stay with me for many years- morning coffee by the lake, beautiful sunsets, fishing, lovely walks around the area, windsurfing and 7 wonderful days away from city life. Seven of us stayed comfortably in the cottage, 3 teenagers, the grandparents and us. The cottage worked very well meeting all of our needs; the kitchen had everything you could ask for, chairs at the beach and on the deck, even the towels and sheets were all nicely folded upon our arrival. We ventured off to Traverse City, Sutton's Bay and the Sand Dunes, all of which were quite close to the cottage. It was truly a vacation to remember.

We had a great week at the cabin! Our 2 boys loved the bunk beds, and we had a lot of fun out on the pontoon boat! Very comfortable cabin, and really close to Traverse City.

PERFECT PLACE FOR OUR FAMILY OF 5

  • 5 of 5

Very Clean. Lovely owners who showed the well groomed property and the immaculately clean pontoon boat. Inside the cabin was a basket of s'mores ingredients for our family--very nice touch. I wish there was more than 1 bathroom for 5 people but we made it work. Great location on lake--very quiet. Great location in relation to Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Mission Point Lighthouse, etc. We went to Moomers ice cream 4 times!!! Wonderful!! Drove to Mackinac Island- 2 hours away. We took chartered fishing boat from Traverse City. We recommend the General Store on the way to the lighthouse.. Definitely recommend.

Well maintained lake front log cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5 (kids 1, 11 and 14) and dog stayed here the 3rd week of June 2017. We were greeted in the very well maintained, clean cabin with music playing, fresh flowers, and a basket full of s'mores supplies for the fire. The kids and dog enjoyed swimming in the cove in front of the house and from the pontoon boat. The house is in a great location to take day trips while avoiding downtown TC traffic. We visited Suttons Bay, Northport, Leland, Crystal Mountain and of course Sleeping Bear Dunes. We also enjoyed ice cream, pie and shopping on Front Street in Traverse City. I would definitely rent this cabin again and highly recommend it!

Awesome cabin on beautiful lake

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here the weekend before Memorial Day 2016. It's a super cute log cabin on a quiet, peaceful lake. Great porch off the back to drink coffee in the morning, nice fire pit, small sandy beach, clear water for view of the minnows.

The cabin was clean, nice towels, comfortable for 5 adults and a baby. The beds were comfortable - I slept very soundly in the top bunk of the kids room and I'm a 40 something. Woke up to a great view of the lake everyone morning.

The owner was very responsive and easy to work with. Everything went smooth which I appreciate when planning a vacation. The location is perfect for getting out to restaurants in Traverse City but coming back to the wilderness. Highly recommended!

Beautiful place to stay

  • 4 of 5

Our family really enjoyed staying at your cabin. It had everything we needed and was perfect for our small children. They loved the bunk beds on the sleeping porch, playing in the sand and swimming in the water in front of the cabin. Having the water frontage protected by the peninsula made the property seem more private and kept boat traffic away. The water was crystal clear!!! The location made it a very easy drive into Traverse City as well.
