Bedrooms 3
Space 1,100 sq. ft.
Property type chalet
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Picture yourself sitting in the hot tub surrounded by the most refreshing forest. Take a deep breath, relax and find your city life and stress ease away. Or, you're having a glass of wine on the deck feeling renewed and be inspired to call friends at home to tell them you will not be returning. Seriously, you don't want it to end wishing you had more time.

Chalet Quietude is a quiet place in the tranquil forest of the Smokey/Blue Ridge Mountains on 3 acres with two views. The surrounding land is vacant & undeveloped which adds to the privacy & quietude. It's an easy drive (15 minutes) to and from Asheville, North Carolina - 12 miles. Directions to the cabin are simple.

The grounds are gently landscaped so as not to intrude on nature. Chalet Quietude is so close to Asheville, you never really sense you are leaving town. Yet, it is just far enough to be away from the city, in the mountains, and close enough for you to be in the middle of all the festivals and fun in just moments.

Driving to the Blue Ridge Parkway (10 minutes), the Biltmore (20 minutes) or any other activity is easy. You will always feel you are in the center of activity, yet when you want to escape, Chalet Quietude is waiting for you, peacefully. It has become a romantic get-away for many couples celebrating an anniversary, engagement and/or birthday. A family retreat is also a popular reason to stay at Chalet Quietude.

The chalet-styled cabin is comfortable and cozy, and decorated for your comfort. Plenty of windows to view the natural beauty of the surrounding forest. A wood burning fireplace sits proudly in the living area ready to create the beauty and warmth for your winter vacation with us.

The furnishings were chosen to provide the utmost in comfort & relaxation. The pillow-top mattresses, bed sheets & pillows are luxurious & white for cleanliness. 3 bedrooms with king, queen & a twin bed over full bed (bunk bed) sleeps 6 comfortably. We have a full bath including a bathtub/shower on the main floor and in the loft we have a full bath with shower only.

The kitchen is arranged for family cooking & conversation with a dining counter built around the cook top. We do permit smoking indoors & cannot permit pets even though we love them. Children are welcome with your respectful guidance.

We have 3 flat panel TVs with DirecTv satellite & wireless internet, a washer/dryer, hair dryer, robes, and more.

Our hot tub is in the best possible place to relax with the surrounding forest. Sunsets & soaking in the hot tub is the perfect end to a day of adventure & fun.

About Brea Gratia & David Robinson

In 2000 I had plans to move to Asheville from Houston. Events in my life changed those plans. My draw to Asheville did not change. I continued to think about living there, but knew that with my business in Houston, that I could not leave. It was suggested that I purchase a home and spend a lot of time in Asheville. That sounded good to me. So in 2006 I purchased my chalet. As I thought about it sitting empty for long periods of time, I decided it was better to share it. At that time, I did not know the term 'vacation rental'. I did some investigating and found out how to do it. I also found that I loved sharing my beautiful chalet with others.

Brea Gratia & David Robinson purchased this chalet in 2006

Why Brea Gratia & David Robinson chose Fairview

I love Asheville. It brings joy to my heart to be in the mountains. Asheville has everything and the best part is that nothing is extreme. The weather is not extreme, the mountains are not extreme. It is gentle, inviting and there is plenty of variety in things to do here. You can hike (my favorite), fish, golf, shop, eat, sight-see, go on adventures, see wildlife, swim, be a kid again at Sliding Rock, ride your motorcycle on the Blue Ridge and on and on.

What makes this chalet unique

I love staying at Chalet Quietude. It is cool in the summer and cozy in the winter. Butterflies and humming birds love it there too. The location is beautiful and the mountain is covered with forest. Driving up to the chalet in summer, you wonder where the other home are. It is so close to town, yet just far enough away. I named it Chalet Quietude because it is so quiet here. The day I purchased it, I could hear nothing - not a mower, not a dog, not a siren, no traffic - NOTHING...just the QUIETUDE. The quietude surrounds you and you just might forget you have a home to return to! That's how I feel - 'It is the life' and when I am there, I don't want to go home.

Great girls getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect for our group of girls. Beds comfy, cozy living room, nicely decorated. Wish we could have stayed longer and enjoyed more of the amenities and the scenery.

Private mountain retreat

  • 5 of 5

If you value being "in the mountains" in a comfortable, private setting, we highly recommend Chalet Quietude. The listing description is very accurate, with no other houses in sight except for a few visible in the far distance on the other side of the valley. No noises or traffic to disturb your sleep, and your hot tub experience will be very private. The drive into Asheville is 20 minutes. The house is well maintained and comfortable. The owner was very attentive and helpful.

Great place to stay if your looking for a secluded spot. Still very close to downtown and the Biltmore. I wouldn’t look for uber to come get you here though. Very steep on that last 2 miles.

We enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much Shannon. So glad you enjoyed your stay and found it convenient to downtown and the Biltmore. Driving up the mountain is really not difficult. I know "first-timers" will comment on it from time to time....especially "flat-landers". We are from Houston (can't get much flatter than that). Some will ask if a 4-WD vehicle is needed and the answer is no. The roads are paved all the way to the chalet. We do have guests who use Uber and it must depend on the driver and familiarity with mountain driving. Sounds you had Uber driver that was new to the area. Thanks again - hope to have you come stay many more times. Brea

Owner's Response: Thanks so much Vicki - so happy you enjoyed yourselves at Chalet Quietude. It is truly a lovely place. I personally stayed at a place in Maine for the past week and realized how many wonderful things we really do offer that is so above the mainstream vacation rental. We hope you come again Vicki. Brea

Perfect spot for a weekend retreat

  • 5 of 5

The Chalet Quietude was the perfect cabin for our girls' mountain weekend retreat. The accommodations are fabulous, the views from the deck are beautiful and the hot tub is wonderfully relaxing. The location provides privacy and solitude, but is convenient to Biltmore Village and Asheville. We even enjoyed a wonderful hike of Arrowhead Mountain from a trailhead very close to the cabin. Thanks to Brea for her amazing hospitality - we could not have asked for better accommodations.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Kathy. We loved having you and the "girls" as our guest. It was great to meet y'all as well. I normally do not get a chance to meet our guests so it was a real pleasure. We do hope you come back again and again - this was your second visit to one of our properties - thanks so much for that. Privacy and solitude is so important when escaping the city. We totally understand that. Chalet Quietude was our place of solitude when visiting from Houston. It can really slow you down when getting into the mountains with the forest around you. The second best hug you can get is from nature. Thanks again. Hopefully next year. Brea

The perfect honeymoon spot

  • 5 of 5

It was the perfect place for us to have our honeymoon. The scenery was beautiful, the Chalet was gorgeous and it gave us a week of much needed quiet together. Downtown Asheville was so much fun, great food and just a fun wonderful experience all around. I definitely hope to stay here again. Thank you Brea!

Owner's Response: Thank you Bryan - I enjoyed having you for your special date. I do hope that you get to revisit on anniversaries to come. It is always special to get a honeymoon couple because it is so private, secluded and very special on the mountain. A perfect way to start a marriage - thank you both. Best wishes for a long and wonderful marriage. Brea
