About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Picture yourself sitting in the hot tub surrounded by the most refreshing forest. Take a deep breath, relax and find your city life and stress ease away. Or, you're having a glass of wine on the deck feeling renewed and be inspired to call friends at home to tell them you will not be returning. Seriously, you don't want it to end wishing you had more time.

Chalet Quietude is a quiet place in the tranquil forest of the Smokey/Blue Ridge Mountains on 3 acres with two views. The surrounding land is vacant & undeveloped which adds to the privacy & quietude. It's an easy drive (15 minutes) to and from Asheville, North Carolina - 12 miles. Directions to the cabin are simple.

The grounds are gently landscaped so as not to intrude on nature. Chalet Quietude is so close to Asheville, you never really sense you are leaving town. Yet, it is just far enough to be away from the city, in the mountains, and close enough for you to be in the middle of all the festivals and fun in just moments.

Driving to the Blue Ridge Parkway (10 minutes), the Biltmore (20 minutes) or any other activity is easy. You will always feel you are in the center of activity, yet when you want to escape, Chalet Quietude is waiting for you, peacefully. It has become a romantic get-away for many couples celebrating an anniversary, engagement and/or birthday. A family retreat is also a popular reason to stay at Chalet Quietude.

The chalet-styled cabin is comfortable and cozy, and decorated for your comfort. Plenty of windows to view the natural beauty of the surrounding forest. A wood burning fireplace sits proudly in the living area ready to create the beauty and warmth for your winter vacation with us.

The furnishings were chosen to provide the utmost in comfort & relaxation. The pillow-top mattresses, bed sheets & pillows are luxurious & white for cleanliness. 3 bedrooms with king, queen & a twin bed over full bed (bunk bed) sleeps 6 comfortably.

The kitchen is arranged for family cooking & conversation with a dining counter built around the cook top. We do permit smoking indoors & cannot permit pets even though we love them. Children are welcome with your respectful guidance.

We have 3 flat panel TVs with DirecTv satellite & wireless internet, a washer/dryer, hair dryer, robes, and more.

Our hot tub is in the best possible place to relax with the surrounding forest. Sunsets & soaking in the hot tub is the perfect end to a day of adventure & fun.

About Brea Gratia & David Robinson

In 2000 I had plans to move to Asheville from Houston. Events in my life changed those plans. My draw to Asheville did not change. I continued to think about living there, but knew that with my business in Houston, that I could not leave. It was suggested that I purchase a home and spend a lot of time in Asheville. That sounded good to me. So in 2006 I purchased my chalet. As I thought about it sitting empty for long periods of time, I decided it was better to share it. At that time, I did not know the term 'vacation rental'. I did some investigating and found out how to do it. I also found that I loved sharing my beautiful chalet with others.

Brea Gratia & David Robinson purchased this chalet in 2006

Why Brea Gratia & David Robinson chose Blue Ridge Mountains

I love Asheville. It brings joy to my heart to be in the mountains. Asheville has everything and the best part is that nothing is extreme. The weather is not extreme, the mountains are not extreme. It is gentle, inviting and there is plenty of variety in things to do here. You can hike (my favorite), fish, golf, shop, eat, sight-see, go on adventures, see wildlife, swim, be a kid again at Sliding Rock, ride your motorcycle on the Blue Ridge and on and on.

What makes this chalet unique

I love staying at Chalet Quietude. It is cool in the summer and cozy in the winter. Butterflies and humming birds love it there too. The location is beautiful and the mountain is covered with forest. Driving up to the chalet in summer, you wonder where the other home are. It is so close to town, yet just far enough away. I named it Chalet Quietude because it is so quiet here. The day I purchased it, I could hear nothing - not a mower, not a dog, not a siren, no traffic - NOTHING...just the QUIETUDE. The quietude surrounds you and you just might forget you have a home to return to! That's how I feel - 'It is the life' and when I am there, I don't want to go home.

Very secluded location positioned between Chimney Rock and Asheville. Great views for coffee in the morning and wine in the evening.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Nichole. What a fabulous review. Short and sweet with everything future guests would want to know. I was so happy you and your family enjoyed your stay. I look forward to a return visit from you. We just completed painting the entire house and window trim. I'll be posting new photos soon. It gives the overall appearance a story book look. Also, in February, we are adding a shower to the loft half bath. That's going to be very nice for small families like yourself. Thanks again. Brea

Fantastic Private Location Close to Downtown Asheville

  • 5 of 5

- Secluded location, yet also very close to downtown Asheville (a 15-20 min drive). Great to be able to get away from everything but also to be able to check out the awesome places nearby.

- Hot tub is awesome.

- Appliances in the kitchen and the washer/dryer are very modern and function well. Kitchen is stacked with all the necessary utensils. We used the grill to make some steaks and it worked great.

- Brea is very nice and helpful.

- Outdoor area around the chalet is gorgeous. We even had the privilege of seeing a few black bears crunching through the forest from the deck!

- Wifi is spotty but that should be what you expect when you're on the side of a mountain. Also, it's good to be unplugged for a few days.

- Would definitely come back here in the future!

Owner's Response: It was great that you enjoyed everything. The location is awesome - it's such a beautiful mountain. The hot tub is definitely an attraction and glad you enjoyed it. I felt the kitchen needed to be stocked for every need - so I'm glad you found that great too. YAY - you saw some bears - not everyone gets to see them. I've only seen them once in all the years I've owned the place (11 years now). So, I don't know what was or is going on with the internet. I don't stay there much anymore, but, when I traveled there every other month, it was always speedy and perfect (not spotty) so I'll have to get it looked into. Don't know if all the rain we had during your stay had anything to do with it. You should expect good WiFi because it has always been good. Thanks so much for your review - I am pleased that you had a great stay and look forward to hearing from you again and I hope it is soon. Brea

Beautiful quiet, remote location to escape the daily hustle and bustle of our crazy busy life!

  • 5 of 5

The chalet was absolutely beautiful. The three bedrooms were perfect for our family and uncle. We had just enough room for our holiday weekend escape. We cooked breakfast in the kitchen and it had plenty of pans, place settings and kitchen gadgets. We really enjoyed the deck off of the kitchen. It was extremely peaceful. The hot tub was fun too. Beautiful views and peaceful nature sounds.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Trisha - we appreciate the time you took to write such a great review. We are so happy you enjoyed the chalet and just how stocked the kitchen is. We made sure we set up the kitchen so that anyone who stayed there would have the tools they need to cook a great meal. We learned that from staying at places where we ended up buying the tools we needed to cook. We vowed to not let that happen at Chalet Quietude. The deck, hot tub and forested area is fabulous. We are so happy to be at the end of the road, on a mountain ridge with so much privacy and quiet....hence the name "Chalet Quietude" We hope you come again and again!!!! Brea

Awesome Cabin in the mountains!!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I had an awesome time at the cabin! It was about a 20-minute ride into downtown Asheville and other attractions in the area, which we thought was perfect. The views were awesome and the hot tub worked great. The rooms were perfect for the amount of people we had and it was very clean and tidy we when arrived. The beds are amazing. The driveway was steep and the parking area was a bit of a squeeze with two large cars, but overall everything was great and it didn't cause a huge problem. We got Ubers mutliple times and they had no problem with it. Thanks again for an awesome weekend away!!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Sarah - I was so happy to see your review. We did not spend a lot of time on the phone when I checked in so It was good to hear you had an awesome time. Thank you for taking time to write. We are glad you like the beds, the hot tub, the view, the drive into town and of course, the chalet. We do have a limit of cars in the driveway because turning around is not always easy for some. I've been backing out of long driveways since I was a teenager so backing out is easy for me, but not everyone - I do understand that. Even with the turn around niche, it takes a two or three point turn to drive forward. Thanks again and I do hope to hear from you again. Brea
