1200 square THE SETTING. Peaceful and serene is how our guests always describe Rushing Waters Cabin, a foot rustic cabin sitting just feet from a rushing, meandering creek -- in a MAGNIFICENT SETTING! The creek borders the heavily-wooded 2-acre lot for 250 feet. The cabin is strategically sited where you get the best view of the creek. If you have never stayed creekside - this is the way to go -- creek runs right next to cabin and you hear it rushing all the time -- so relaxing.
Enjoy the views and sounds of the creek from the sleeping porch with its futon and gas fireplace, or from the comfort of the window seat or the comfy leather sofa in the living area, with its huge stacked-stone, wood-burning fireplace. The creek is lit so you can enjoy it in the evenings. There is also an outdoor firepit to enjoy a cozy fire off the deck and an outdoor dining area overlooking the creek. If you're at the cabin after a good rain you'll enjoy a roaring creek.
The cabin is located amongst a forest of tall trees and is heavily shaded creekside. The creekside is usually cool. Because of the creek and our elevation (about 1500 feet) its always cooler here - even in summer.
THE CABIN. The cabin is rustic, with cedar tongue and groove throughout, giving it the cozy, lodge feel you envision for a 'mountain cabin.' Modern open--plan living area, massive stone fireplace. Executive lodgings with rusic appeal. Cabin is decorated with style and comfort in mind (not grandmas's plaid sofa).
In the open living area you will find a comfy fine leather sofa and club chair, flat screen TV with HD, plus an 8-foot window seat that overlooks the creek. Indoor dining seats 4-6 and outdoor dining seats 6. Cabin has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths and sleeps 4 in beds: the master bedroom has a king bed with a full bath, plus an electric fireplace; the second bedroom has a queen log bed. Quality beds are super comfortable. Window seat can sleep 1 adult or 2 small kids; full-size futon on the screened sleeping porch is available for those who want to 'glamp' by the creek..
Nothing but the best for our guests. High-count linens, plush towels, throws and blankets, lots of pillows; washer/dryer provided; kitchen is fully-equipped. Central air and heat. Games, cards, puzzles and books too. All the comforts of home. Our guests always comment on how we have 'everything'!
WIFI; Satellite television with DishTV 200+ channels and DVR available in the living room and both bedrooms. Flat screen HD TV in living room. UNLIMITED LONG DISTANCE.
PETS ALLOWED. We welcome your dogs. We charge a 1-time pet cleaning fee, that's it. No cats - they scratched the leather furniture). And not to worry --- home is aired out regularly and super clean - smells fresh and clean, no mustiness or pet odor.
Small children are OK but you MUST supervise them at all times.

This is our second home and mountain getaway. We gladly share this very special place and experience with our wonderful guests. The satisfaction and comfort of our guest is a priority. We live in Miami and cherish little more than our time spent at our creekside mountain getaway and are always sad to leave.
Annie purchased this Cabin in 2007
Why Annie chose Tusquittee
After weeks of internet searches and days of viewing properties in the area in 2007 we found this incredible property and instantly fell in love with its rustic cedar interior, enchanted setting and the amazing creek, which rushes just feet off the house, unlike any other home we had seen. We added a stone wood-burning fireplace, moved the gas fireplace out to the sleeping porch and installed a window seat for additional comfort and charm.
What makes this Cabin unique
The creek is amazing. It was a quiet creek when we first bought it but soon discovered how it changes after a strong rain, becoming almost torrential, as it cascades along its path. So hope for rain when you are there, so you can enjoy the creek at its best.

My husband and I, and my parents, and a friend stayed at Rushing Waters for the first week in April. It was a lovely setting. The trees were just beginning to bud, and the creek was a beautiful sight--we spent many mornings and evenings out on the porch cuddled in blankets, enjoying the view, and in the afternoons, it was sunny and warm enough to enjoy from the deck.
The cottage is very nicely outfitted, particularly the kitchen. We did a lot of cooking there, which was nice, as it's a bit of a drive to get into Hayesville, although it's a beautiful drive.
The only issue that we had was that emails back and forth with the owner didn't seem to be going through. I assume this was a problem with emails being flagged as spam or with VRBO's system, and no fault of the owner, but I would suggest texting to be sure that your communications are going through. The hiking in the area was amazing--that was the main purpose of our trip, and we enjoyed many different locations within the Nantahala State Forest. This is truly a gorgeous area, and Rushing Waters was a lovely place to stay.
So wonderfully QUIET!
I made a fire every night. The babbling brook was so soothing! It’s a very spacious cabin! I will say that it is very difficult to find.
We truly enjoyed our time at "Rushing Waters"! The cabin was spacious, easy to access, close to town, clean and the river next to it is PERFECT! We met a couple of very nice neighbors while walking down the mountain. Thank you Annie for sharing your cabin!
We spent a week and it was really cold while we were there, so the many options of fire place and heat sources were nice. It had everything we needed to be comfortable and all we had to do was shop for food, relax and enjoy. Hayesville was a cute town. We would love to go back during the spring or summer to enjoy a different season. Highly recommend this great cabin. The creek was wonderful to listen to and watch.
Paradise in the woods
very few words to describe our stay at Rushing Waters as that detracts from seeing it yourself. Cabin is a little older but everything works and its well set-up, well laid out and comfortable. Creek (mini river) is less than 15 feet behind cabin and an amazingly tranquil feel. Don't know if different in summer but for Christmas/New Year it was very cool (literally and figuratively). Owner is very easy to work with.
The property was perfect in every way, we enjoyed everything, hope to return soon.
We we're looking for a private, peaceful place to get away from it all. We got just that and more. The rushing waters of the creek washed away our worries. There was no way you could sit on the porch or deck and have bad thoughts or thinking negatively. Just good for the soul. Enjoying God's creations!
Golf: Lots of beautiful mountain-view golf courses in Georgia and North Carolina mountains nearby. The Ridges Golf Resort outside Hayesville has re-opened and is 5 minutes from the cabin. Lake Chatuge Shores Golf Club (15 minutes) and Brassville Resort (20 minutes) are also nearby. Come enjoy a mountain vacation in an enchanting setting in a cozy cabin in the mountains, with easy access to some wonderful golf resorts.
