Good location but key items need work

  • 2 of 5

We ran out of water twice during our stay. The AC unit in the master bedroom will drip on you while you are sleeping before the night is even over. The property managers, of which there are supposively two, were basically not there. They did not greet us upon arrival as planned and were not there for check out either. When we had issues with water they were unavailable. My girlfriend had to shower me using a jug of drinking water (and yes we were conserving water). Besides that the place is nice. Plenty of cookware and utensils. Beds are pretty comfy. Nice back patio. Lots of beach towels and shower towels. It is a short 4 minute walk to the town square and 8 to the beach.

Very cute house!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. Great AC in bedrooms as it was quite hot during our visit. The location was good and we got plenty of exercise walking everywhere.

Lovely home. Responsive hosts. Steps from the town and beach. Quiet and tranquil.

  • 4 of 5

Stayed for a week in April. It's a great place. However, Sayulita has become too busy, the surf is too strong for swimming and we all got very sick. The town's infrastructure needs an upgrade. Including the sewage. We won't return even though we've been coming for years.

Una muy agradable estancia como en casa!

  • 5 of 5

Cute home close to beach and town, beware of Sayulita sickness

  • 3 of 5

While the home was cute and close to everything, the sickness that is rampant in Sayulita overshadowed our visit. The house is small, but with the doors open to the outside it makes it feel bigger. I would say that the home is a better fit to 4 people then 6, with only one bathroom and 2 very small refridgerators. The outside shower was great! Our host was wonderful! Nancy responded to all our requests quickly. Just when we needed it most the cleaning lady came, cleaned and 'decontaminated' the house. Nancy also arranged our transportation to and from the airport.

Now to the bad, which had nothing to do with the home. We thought that we all just had a case of Montezumas revenge. Until we started talking to other people. Everyone we spoke with had spent 2-3 days sick. It is a huge problem in Sayulita right now.

I loved the home, the town is super cute, but the sickness that has overtaken Sayulita would prevent me from visiting again.

My family of four (two kids 3 and 8) had eight nights at Casa Cereza during January 2017. The house is a small bungalow perfect for that many guests. The property is very well kept and clean. Beautiful back deck and garden that opens in to the house. The neighborhood is a mix of vacation rentals and residents and was very quiet and peaceful while we were there (assuming you don't mind some backyard roosters as alarm clocks). We didn't need to use the A/C and the house was very comfortable. Very well located, just a couple of minutes walk to the central plaza and shops/restaurants, with a very similar short hike to the beach. Nancy the property manager met us upon arrival and was very helpful, even coordinating with our transportation company for our arrival and pickup at departure. If I were to suggest anything to anyone traveling to Sayulita and especially staying at Casa Cereza it would be that you DO NOT need a car (and Sayulita doesn't need you to bring one, either - they have way more than they can handle already). You can quickly and easily walk to anywhere in town and can very easily get golf cart rentals when needed. A car is a huge hassle for you (and for everybody else) to navigate around the very confined streets in town.

Car: not necessary

Casa Cereza’s location is absolutely the best in Sayulita. It is located in the exclusive south-central area, by Sayulita’s premier beach. A 5 minute stroll puts you in the town center or on the most desired beach. The stroll is delightful in and of itself – the walk is along a beautifully landscaped and meandering pathway, lovingly called “Lombard Street”, referencing San Francisco’s famous twisty road. At the bottom of the path is the famous Iguana sanctuary tree. In this part of town, no car is needed, because everything is within a 5-10 minute walk.
