The Owner purchased this house in 2000
We looked for 2 years for the perfect home with stunning views, tranquil setting and a great place to gather with family and friends. This property, with its 360 degree views, is magical. It has amazing outdoor space for tennis, swimming and any lawn sport you can think of.
Clean, Modern, timeless design, this house was featured in California Homes and Designs in 2009. There isn't a property with more stunning views in the valley.
We had an unbelievable stay at this gorgeous home. The views are stunning in every direction. The decor is beautiful. The swimming pool is luxurious. The outdoor space is perfect for al fresco dining. This is a great place to stay with children or for an adult weekend away! You can not go wrong with these lovely accommodations! I can't wait to go back.
We had a wonderful stay at a fabulous home. The kitchen was well stocked with pot, pans etc for a big group at Thanksgiving. There was plenty of space for all. There were a few minor issues slow drains in the master bath, and the kitchen needed a deep clean from years of visitors. The minor issues did not take away from the fun and memories we share from the trip to the wine country. The design and views from anywhere in this home are simply breath taking!
Here is a brief version of an email I sent to the owners within 48 hours of our stay.
-- I wanted to share a few things with you that may require your attention at VRBO #17364. Also I hope some of the things I am sharing may help you with future rentees.
1. The toilet in the 1/2 bath continuously had to be fixed in order for it to flush throughout our stay. The flapper chain kept coming off in the toilet’s tank.
2. The dishwasher soap left under the sink was enough for one load of dishes. And as you know we stayed several nights for our family get away. The same was true for the washing detergent for the clothes washer.
3. All soap dispensers in every bathroom needed to be refilled and two out of three toilet rolls needed to be replaced upon our arrival.
4. The left sink in the master bedroom drains very slowly and appears to be clogged.
5. As a health care professional I was uncomfortable with the “previously used" bars of soap in every shower.
6. Although we were lucky the weather was warm, I wish we had been told prior to our arrival the pool would not be heated. I reread your VRBO description and the “polar bear” experience as stated in the Welcome binder was not documented in VRBO add.
7. Bed pillows should be replaced in Master Bedroom. There was significant amount of yellow and blood stains on several of the pillows.
They have never responded to my email. The owners describe the home as a "luxury hide-away in the Wine country", I believe the owners need to put more of an effort into preparing their home for rental or reduce their rates. These are the reasons, I gave 3 stars.
The house was great. There was more than enough space for the 9 people in our party. The grounds were perfect to let our kids go out and play, as well. The décor was modern and made the house feel very comfortable and warm. It's perched on the very top of a hill which provide excellent views of the surrounding area, whether you are outside on the deck on inside taking advantage of the huge windows in the main living space. It's about an hour away from the Napa Valley depending on which road you take, but the drive is manageable. This house is perfect for a weekend spent in Sonoma, though. When we arrived it was very clean and everything was easily accessible. It was also very secure given the location and gate at the entrance. We had a bit of an issue at the beginning of the weekend because I didn't read all of the instructions (user error), but when I called the owner she was quick to respond and very helpful. Highly recommended if you have a large party, or just want to get away to work on your novel.
Stunning and beautiful, this is much more than a vacation home. Architecturally perfect estate with sweeping unsurpassed views of the Kenwood vineyards, wineries, mountains and valleys. Very spacious rooms throughout. Large entertaining great room and dining area, fully stocked professional chefs kitchen. All the bedrooms and baths are gorgeous and generous. The pool and yard/grounds are like having your own personal park. Oak trees set the perfect mood. Large hot tub near fire pit below wide and spacious deck. Lots of patio space and seating. This home is comfortable and a treat for all the senses. The views from the home are amazing. We asked to stay longer, consider yourself lucky to spend time here. The owners are very responsive and gracious. Five minutes from everything. What a treat!
We had a lovely weeklong stay at this home in August. 4 couples, no children. You are paying for the view and the location.....it is worth it!
However there are some items to note about the property that should be addressed to make this home "perfect":
The instruction booklet on the kitchen counter is very out of date (e.g., the nest temperature controls are not mentioned)
Kitchen is overstocked with pots/pans which makes it difficult to find what you need. Drawers are a jumble of knives and cooking utensils.
Multiple lights in the master bedroom were not working.
Only the master bed room has a chest of drawers for clothing.
Outdoor lights, including the pool lights, not working
No outdoor speakers to enjoy music outside . the house opens up fully to the outdoors and it would be nice to have music.
Lots of bees around, especially in the grass. There is lovely seating outside for dining but you cannot eat outside without a swarm of bees finding you.
A family of five deer roam freely through the property.
The pool is lovely although there is a vacuum moving about the pool at all times which is a bit of a nuisance as it interferes with swimming.
The detached cottage is not up to the same standard as the house. Very rustic, no place to hang or put clothing, TV does not work, no AC (although totally comfortable at night with windows open). Deck is old and wooden, lots of splinters so take care.
