Quiet Peaceful Cape Cod Charm
This was a romantic one week get away and Bob and Sally’s cottage provided the perfect ambiance for it. As soon as we walked in the house we were elated to see how bright and airy it was and so wonderfully decorated with nautical decor. What excited us most was the view of Barnstable Harbor and the lovely porch to enjoy the views from. We read and talked and dined there. We had lovely sunsets most every night (we went in Sept), and it was such a pleasure to sit and watch the boats come and go. The private beach provided entertaining tide pools to explore and we had a beach campfire one night. The area is quaint and we loved the food at Osterville Fish Too just around the corner.
We slept comfortably and had a great time watching movies and reading books from the bookshelf. Since it was off-season, the area was very very quiet.
Bob and Sally really thought of everything to make the stay perfectly enjoyable. We wanted to stay a month!!!!! We hope to return!
Gets better every year!
2,490 characters isn't enough to describe all of the great things about this cottage. We have rented here for 8 years, and it's harder to leave every time.
Charming, very clean, well stocked cottage within walking distance to Barnstable Village (which we do every morning for coffee). Beautifully manicured yard with steps down to your own private beach. Great area for paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, shell fishing, crabbing, or just lounging. Incredibly safe for kids (beach and neighborhood). Beautiful view of Sandy Neck across the harbor. Some of the most incredible sunsets you will ever see! Easy walk to restaurants, fish market, ice cream, whale watch, etc...
This place never disappoints!
Wonderful Family Vacation
Bob and Sally's property was perfect for our summer family vacation. We all loved the beach access, in particular our 3-year-old, who was overjoyed to run straight out of the house each morning on to the beach and loved searching for crabs in the bay when the tide was out. We also really enjoyed the covered deck for eating meals and hanging out late night. We would certainly return to stay at the property again.
Beautiful location, great family vacation. Cottage was so clean and yard was so beautiful, they had everything you need. So much to do or nothing at all.
Old Cape Cod
This is a wonderful cottage, small and reminiscent of a former time when vacations were more about family and enjoying the time away from work and school. The screened porch was perfect, how I wish we had more screened porches!! Located in a quiet neighborhood, not far from Barnstable Village Center, the cottage has a nice back lawn that overlooks the ocean. The sand is few steps away.Kitchen was well stocked, fabulous outdoor shower and wifi ( if you really need to work). We enjoyed take out from Osterville Fish Too (scrumptuous) and bought fish another night from their fish market, Took the Hyannis whale watch - boat is short walk from cottage - saw more than 30 whales - mostly humpbacks. Visted Long Bird Sanctuary, went to Dedham playhouse, Heritage Gardens in Sandwich, ferried to the Vineyard, played mini golf. Perfect week. Perfect location.
Front to back, the cottage was perfect!
Beds and linens were super comfy.
The kitchen was well stocked (ie; I brought a cork screw just in case, no need, there were already 2 in the draw) and roomy enough for 5 of us to be milling about at once. I especially loved the deco styled Kevlinator stove.
The bathroom was clean and bright although I never used the shower. I opted to use the outdoor shower instead.
The screened in porch was another bonus space, and I do mean bonus.
The location of the cottage can't be beat. You're within 10 mins to major stores/shopping but you would never know it whilst lounging at the house. The backyard is spacious and flat with soft grass. Not the crunchy prickly kind you sometimes find. Within 45 mins of our arrival to the Cottage, I said to my friend "This is the best money I've ever spent!".
The landlord, was gracious and accommodating from the very beginning of the rental process and even checked in w me after we left.
