Little Yellow Cottage: Steps to Lanikai Beach

Nestled in the beachside residential community of Lanikai in Kailua, this home is well appointed with all the creature comforts of a home away from home. It is a separate and distinct 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath cottage. Upstairs is a full kitchen and a living/dining area as well as a convenient half bath. Downstairs are two bedrooms: the master with a queen-sized bed and the second one with two twins. Both share a jack and jill full bathroom. The home is fully furnished, including a TV, books, games, toys as well as beach towels, linens, and an initial supply of paper products and soaps including dish soap, laundry soap and body soap.

The front porch opens out to a very large monkey pod tree, spanning two properties and home to songbirds (manu mele) - our morning serenade!!

It is only a five to seven minute walk to the world famous Lanikai beach, the best swimming beach in all of Hawai’i. The town of Kailua is a seven minute drive, making us close to shopping, some great restaurants and the Kailua Beach Center that rents kayaks and other ocean toys. The property is managed by a long-term resident of Hawaii.

Our family had a wonderful time in Lanikai. The house is well equipped with everything we needed for our 14 days there. Beds, linens and towels super comfy and new. Great shower and well ventilated living room and bedrooms. Residential neighborhood. Walking distance from the most beautiful sunrise in Oahu. Nancy is super kind.

Basics rate is reasonable until all extra fees are added. Very expensive stay. Major road work in local area restricted parking all day. Since we could not walk to the local beach carrying supplies, we had to use Kailua Beach Park, which is very busy. Disappointing.

Wonderfull cottage in perfect location

Communication with the host prior to arrive and during our stay was clear and timely. Nancy provided all check in details weeks before our arrival. Upon arrival, the Little Yellow Cottage is very well cleaned and staged to receive us. It is very well stocked with everything we needed for our three week stay. This included kitchen utensils, dinnerware, cookware, condiments, seasoning so you can cook yourself (Foodland, Wholefoods are a 10-15min drive away). This property also came with four beach chairs, snorkels, two pairs of fins, plenty of beach toys for the kids. and a small cooler. The two bedrooms are large and the beds were very comfortable. There are plenty of linens and towels. Having a washer and dryer was super helpful. The cottage itself is located about 10mins walk from Lanikai beach. It is very nicely tucked away in what I can best describe as a mini jungle. If you love the sounds of nature, then open the windows and be enchanted. Parking is available on the property. We absolutely loved this cottage. We miss it already and we recommend it to anyone who looks to stay in the Lanikai/Kailua area.

Respite from the snow.

Nancy communicated with us frequently, before, during and after our stay. She was the ultimate host, providing us with guidance such as, wear wide- rimmed hats and lots of sunscreen. We found out from many locals that Lanikai was a special neighborhood and we were lucky to have chosen the Little Yellow Cottage for our stay. Just an easy walk to what is considered the most beautiful beach on the island brings you to paradise. The water is chrystal clear. The breeze soothed us to sleep, at night. And the beautiful birds cheerfully greeted us, each morning. And the cottage was lovely and full of natural light. Thank you, Nancy!

Yellow Little Cottage Perfection

My family was looking for a rental close to Lanikai that was clean with 2 bedrooms. We came across Nancy's listing that met our needs and more. She greeted us upon our arrival and gave us a run down of the property. The rental was clean, had an awesome lay out where kids could have their own room and the best thing of all...it had an in unit washer/dryer. It’s only a 10-15 minute walk to the beach and Nancy offered chairs, umbrellas and beach toys. We have stayed at a number of rentals in the area and this is the best by far. I think we have found our place for the next visit!

Peaceful time in Lanikai/Kailua

Lovely respite in a beautiful, serene location within easy walking distance to beach. Our hostess, Nancy, was very friendly, very helpful with all arrangements and gave us some great ideas for outings. We would gladly rent again. One caution is that the local birds wake up early - not an issue for us as we do, too. We loved the sounds as it reminded us exactly where we were - a tropical paradise. We highly recommend it.

We had a wonderful stay at the Little Yellow Cottage! It was cozy, tasteful and in a great neighborhood. The house had everything we needed and was the right size for four of us. Just like the first time we stayed at the yellow cottage, it was adorable! There are 4 of us staying, 2 adults and 2 teenagers And it fits us perfectly. The location is outstanding and it is a private, clean, cozy place to stay. My only negative comment is that it is probably time to change out the mattress for the queen size bed.
