Sticking out like a sore elbow (and out of the way of much of the Cape's tourist flow), Chatham was one of the first spots to attract early explorers. Samuel de Champlain stopped by in 1606 but got into a tussle with the prior occupants over some copper cooking pots; he ended up leaving in a hurry. The first colonist to stick around was William Nickerson of Yarmouth, who befriended a local sachem (tribal leader) and built a house beside his wigwam in 1656. One prospered; the other -- for obvious reasons -- didn't. To this day, listings for Nickersons still occupy a half-page in the Cape Cod phone book.

Fantastic Chatham home within walking distance of Main Street and lots more!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 11 night stay at 34 Shattuck Place in Chatham. Easy to book and the owner was very helpful ahead of time answering questions. The house was as promised on arrival. Beautiful, quaint, all as hoped for! We loved being based there and had a BBQ there most evenings sitting out on the front lawn. Great BBQ too! Our boys loved the front porch and garden (ages 2 and 4). We enjoyed walking to the windmill at the end of the street, Oyster Pond, the park, the baseball field and the fire station. I'd highly recommend this house and location. Thank you Tom!

The house is amazing and had everything we needed!

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed our stay! The house is beautiful and very comfortable! The location is perfect! We parked our car most of the week and walked to down town, Oyster Pond, Light House Beach, and the Chatham Anglers Baseball field. We would absolutely stay here again!

Traditional Cape Cod home in great location

  • 5 of 5

This quaint home offers a traditional cape style with some nice upgrades. The location is perfect for shopping on Main St, strolling to Oyster Pond Beach, or visiting Chase park to see the old gristmill & walk a labyrinth. Just a very short drive to Lighthouse Beach, Chatham Fish Pier & bike path. The weather was rainy & a bit cool for June, so we were so happy to return to this cozy home after being out in the elements. The kitchen was fully stocked & there were plenty of books & games to pass the time. Would recommend without hesitation.

Great stay in Chatham

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time at this property and it was even better than the last. The house is clean, cozy, comfortable, quiet and conveniently located close to the center of town. Did I mention quaint? Everything was set up nicely for us when we arrived and check-in and out was a breeze. We will check availability here first any time we're coming to Chatham.

Perfect cottage for a mini get away

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to get away somewhere in New England area to be closer to our college daughter so she could spend the weekend with us for her sisters spring break week. Lovely little home close to town. The only problem was that many of the shops and restaurants were not open for the season yet (last week of April) so that part was more limited. Very relaxing though to not have a full agenda. Would highly recommend this rental.
