Hope to stay here again.
Great place to stay, highly recommend. Feels like you’re in the jungle, but just minutes from all the excitement of Ali’i Drive. Loved this location for driving to the wonderful beaches of The Big Island. Close to the Upper Road, yet not far from Safeway and Walmart. The owners, who live upstairs, are very gracious and helpful, yet provide you with plenty of privacy. The property is a small farm, where they grow the juiciest oranges you’ve ever tasted. The owner even picked oranges and other fresh fruit for us. When we arrived there were local coffee beans, macadamia nuts, and chocolate covered macadamia nuts, which was a very nice welcome.
Excellent place to relax after a long day of exploring!
You can read all the other reviews which are completely accurate and I would just be repeating them so I won't. As far as one of the stipulations that laundry must only be done during the day due to solar power, this issue has been resolved and we used the laundry often when we would come home in the dark. As soon as I would pull onto the street and driveway at night, I would roll my window down so I could hear the all the pleasant nocturnal creature sounds as we drove in. What a nice way to end the day, hot tea/beer and nature at its finest. The only issue we had was our connectivity with wifi, although not a complete necessity it did make planning the days a little harder. Other than that absolutely amazing! Thanks so much Wendy and hope to see you again soon!!!!
Very clean and comfortable. Two full bedrooms and full kitchen
Although not in the center of town or in a resort, it feels like visiting family. Close to shopping and other attractions in Kona. They provided a delicious pineapple, papaya and coffee. We had a little trouble with the internet service and WiFi, but managed just fine. Wendy gave excellent directions to find the place, which might have been a problem with just gps.
Home away from home
We stayed for 2 weeks and enjoyed it very much. Wendy and Harry are very lovely and the appartment offers everything you need.
We love to come back!
My wife, kids and I stayed at the Tropical Ohana and could not have been more happy. If you want to taste true Hawaii living this is for you. The home was spotless clean and comfortable with wonderful views of Kailua Bay. The kitchen is very well appointed (combine that with Safeway and Walmart being 5 minutes down the hill) makes it a great place for preparing meals. We also enjoyed fresh fruit grown just outside the doors. The wild Turkeys and Pheasants makes your morning coffee on your private Lanai a great start to your days. An interesting note is that this is a extremely green home meaning that 100% of its electricity is provided via solar, we never would have known this had it not been for some routine maintenance that was done one day. Thank you Wendy and Harry for such a nice stay.
Beautiful peaceful property
The home was spacious and clean and had everything we needed. The property was beautiful and we ate some delicious fruit and enjoyed the animals and listening to the birds. It was cool at night, which was great, and had a great ocean view. We would definitely stay here again!
