Waitsfield VT Timber Home - Mad River Valley Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Very nicely laid out vacation house on a quiet wooded hillside. Each Morning as we drove out onto Bragg Hill Road to explore the Mad River Valley, we were treated to an awesome view of the Sugar Bush and Mad River Glen Ski areas and associated mountains to the South, as well as a herd of sheep across the road. In the Winter with the leaves off the trees, it would be likely the view of the mountains would be available off the Deck. Knoll Hill Farm, a pick your own blueberries location with Saturday concerts and Sunday brunch is just down the road. The house is relatively open, quiet, very clean with plenty of room for adults and kids. 2-1/2 baths! Minimal local vehicle traffic was nice too. Owners communication was excellent. If coming back again to this area we would most certainly stay again if available.

The "Bug Inn"

  • 2 of 5

Home was very charming. In a nice location with views of Mt. Ellen, Sugarbush and Mad River Glen ski resorts. Everything in the home worked and we were able to sleep 8.

The major negative issue was small black bugs in the home. We spent many hours cleaning, this was not one or two bugs but hundreds of bugs.

Owner's Response: I’m glad you enjoyed our home. And I’m very sorry about the beattles. This is the 7th year we have rented the house and no one has had beetles before. The cleaners and my husband checked the house and they are not there now. Again I apologize.

Wonderful home, area and hosts

  • 5 of 5

We just completed our week stay at this wonderful log house. The house is immaculate and the yard and plants were just gorgeous. High quality kitchen amenities made our cooking adventures even better. Our hosts were super responsive and made us feel very welcome. The Mad River Valley has a vast array of fun things to do and we ran out of time, before we ran out of activities. We rented Mtn Bikes for the week and rode Blueberry Lake trails, swam in the Mad River, hiked and attended a great music festival. it was hard to leave and we plan to be back next year. I highly recommend this property if you are visiting the area.

A great place for familes to reconnect!

  • 5 of 5

What a GEM of a place to relax! We stayed here on a trip to Vermont for my neices wedding in Richmond with our adult children and their significant others for an extended long weekend. With bedrooms on 2 levels everyone had their "own" space. Love the wide openess of the kitchen and great room. Everyone was able to pitch in to prepare food without bumping into each other. Between all the busy wedding activites this quiet mountain location allowed us time to decompress and reconnect with 3 generations of family. Great yard for lasso ball! Enjoyed the firepit in the evening. This would be my dream retirement home, and we'd definately return if in the area again. Thank you Kathy and Jim for sharing it!

Fabulous find outside Waitsfield.

  • 5 of 5

It has been an absolute pleasure staying at your Waitsfield home this week. It was perfect in so many ways. The location was very convenient for the Green mountain stage race and the boys rode their bikes up Bragg Hill on the first day to warm up for the real test—which was to ride up the App Gap at the end of their 65 mile race through the countryside. They located a couple of great swimming holes in Warren and Bristol and made several visits to cool off after their rides/races. My husband and I played golf twice at Sugarbush and otherwise relaxed and took in the races.

The property was minutes from the charming town of Waitsfield which had everything we needed . The chalet was spacious, open concept with very comfy beds and having 3 bathrooms was a bonus for sure!! We'd certainly return.

Our home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This is our third summer renting this home in Fayston, and it gets better every year. The home is perfect for a family with kids (we have three young ones), and nothing beats Vermont in the summertime (the hottest day in July was around 85). The house is comfortable, with an airy, wide open kitchen, dining room and living room. There are beautiful views of the mountains at every turn. You awaken to chirping birds and croaking bull frogs. We picked a half pint of raspberries from the yard every day!! It really doesn't get any better :)
