Wonderful home, area and hosts

  • 5 of 5

We just completed our week stay at this wonderful log house. The house is immaculate and the yard and plants were just gorgeous. High quality kitchen amenities made our cooking adventures even better. Our hosts were super responsive and made us feel very welcome. The Mad River Valley has a vast array of fun things to do and we ran out of time, before we ran out of activities. We rented Mtn Bikes for the week and rode Blueberry Lake trails, swam in the Mad River, hiked and attended a great music festival. it was hard to leave and we plan to be back next year. I highly recommend this property if you are visiting the area.

A great place for familes to reconnect!

  • 5 of 5

What a GEM of a place to relax! We stayed here on a trip to Vermont for my neices wedding in Richmond with our adult children and their significant others for an extended long weekend. With bedrooms on 2 levels everyone had their "own" space. Love the wide openess of the kitchen and great room. Everyone was able to pitch in to prepare food without bumping into each other. Between all the busy wedding activites this quiet mountain location allowed us time to decompress and reconnect with 3 generations of family. Great yard for lasso ball! Enjoyed the firepit in the evening. This would be my dream retirement home, and we'd definately return if in the area again. Thank you Kathy and Jim for sharing it!

Fabulous find outside Waitsfield.

  • 5 of 5

It has been an absolute pleasure staying at your Waitsfield home this week. It was perfect in so many ways. The location was very convenient for the Green mountain stage race and the boys rode their bikes up Bragg Hill on the first day to warm up for the real test—which was to ride up the App Gap at the end of their 65 mile race through the countryside. They located a couple of great swimming holes in Warren and Bristol and made several visits to cool off after their rides/races. My husband and I played golf twice at Sugarbush and otherwise relaxed and took in the races.

The property was minutes from the charming town of Waitsfield which had everything we needed . The chalet was spacious, open concept with very comfy beds and having 3 bathrooms was a bonus for sure!! We'd certainly return.

Our home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This is our third summer renting this home in Fayston, and it gets better every year. The home is perfect for a family with kids (we have three young ones), and nothing beats Vermont in the summertime (the hottest day in July was around 85). The house is comfortable, with an airy, wide open kitchen, dining room and living room. There are beautiful views of the mountains at every turn. You awaken to chirping birds and croaking bull frogs. We picked a half pint of raspberries from the yard every day!! It really doesn't get any better :)

Family of four - fun for all

  • 5 of 5

I have to say that your log home near Fayston was wonderful. We were pleased to find that there were many sights of interest to us just a short drive from the cabin. Some of the places that we visited were Burlington, Montpellier, and the Rock of Ages quarry near Barre. We also drove south of Burlington to see the Vermont Teddy Bear company and a variety of interesting stops in that direction. We went as far south as Middlebury where we strolled through the downtown area and had lunch at the Two Brothers Tavern. Our northern most trip was the ski area at Stowe and the road up to Smugglers Notch which was a fascinating and picturesque drive. We shopped at the factory outlet stores in Essex Junction and we all enjoyed the Ben & Jerry's factory. We took their factory tour, bought t-shirts and brought home much more ice-cream than we ever thought we could eat ... but we did manage to eat it. The children also loved swimming at the watering holes along the Mad River. We managed to do quite a bit of hiking in the areas along the Mad River valley which was wonderful.

As for the log home cabin, it exceeded our expectations. The children enjoyed sleeping in the basement where they could get away from their parents. We enjoyed coffee on the deck in the mornings and wine on the deck in the evenings. Shopping for groceries was easy in the store in Waitsfield. We used the barbecue once but mostly cooked our evening meals in the kitchen which was well equipped for everything we could possibly need. Before bed we often watched movies using the DVD player that was there. The wireless internet was also a nice bonus. It allowed us to keep in touch with our families by e-mail, and to look up some phone numbers or restaurant hours before leaving in the morning.

I retreat that is highly recommended for anyone interested in relaxing in a picturesque environment. And who isn't?
