About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 8)

Are you someone who appreciates and wants to show others the beauty and tranquility of this amazing, relaxing piece of heaven? Do you love the sound of a stream from any open window in the house? Come stay in our quiet, clean getaway! We LOVE it and know you (and your children or grandchildren) will too.

It is a 1200 square feet retreat, and has been detailed to make your stay comfortable and memorable.

The house itself has two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a living room with two futons -- all totaling two queen sized beds, two full sized beds, and two twin beds. The kitchen is fully equipped for any meal, fresh ground coffee, an apres ski treat, or family barbeque. The kitchen table sits six, with room for three more at the breakfast bar. The house sits on more than an acre, which lends itself to short or long walks, enjoying the stream (which runs year round, and is just yards from the house), smelling the fresh mountain air, sitting outside and reading a book -- or doing some artwork!

The nearby town of Salida boasts many activities: art galleries galore, indoor hot springs pool, bowling, hatchery, lakes, biking, hiking, fly fishing, white water rafting, winery, live theatre, dining, pubs, summer and holiday events, horseback riding, go-kart riding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling . . . . Do all of that -- and then -- come back to our hideaway and watch wildlife, have a glass of wine by the stream, play horseshoes or badmitten, read a book, take some pictures, see a movie, cook a feast, listen to music, and sleep to the sound of the Cherry Creek right outside your window. We have books, movies, satellite TV, DVD and VCR capacity.

This is a year-round playground! Summer hikes, winter moonlight snowshoeing (snowshoes provided for three), mushroom hunts, and fall color photography. There is never a bad time to visit.

For parents and grandparents: Know that there are books, toys and games, a pack-n-play with crib sheets, bathroom step stool, and booster seat for a little one!

Please feel free to ask for more photos or details!

About The Owner

I live in the Denver area, and love bringing my two children up to the cabin for weekend getaways. We use the cabin whenever we get a chance, but we also enjoy sharing it with other families!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2001

Why The Owner chose South Central

The entire area offers an unlimited number of activities for couples, families, and individuals. The views, the fresh air, the mountain smells, the rushing stream... how can you even narrow down the best part? As a family, we have had a number of unforgettable experiences -- from the white water rafting and ziplining to quiet family movie nights and night hikes. This area is hands down our favorite place to be... we plan our trips to the cabin as frequently as our schedule will allow... and we always have a difficult time leaving.

What makes this cabin unique

One of the best things about this cabin is the water! The stream and the sound of running water is truly relaxing. The house is clean, comfortable, and perfectly located for the many activities the Salida area has to offer. It is perfect for a family, an adventurer, an artist, or a reader. Salida is a slice of heaven, and we know anyone who spends any time there would agree!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just wanted to tell you and we had a wonderful stay in your lovely cabin. What a perfect setting with the creek on one side and the pond on the other. I like the paint colors and decorative items you've chosen. Also enjoyed the various artwork. We appreciated it being very clean and well-organized.

Thanks again for sharing your home retreat.

Great Get Away

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our stay at the Quiet Arkansas River Hideaway. Enjoyed our time, very peaceful and relaxing. If you are looking for a place off the beaten path and secluded this is it. The cabin has everything you could possible need and more.

quaint, quiet

  • 4 of 5

Cute little cabin in the woods. directions were straightforward, easy to find even though it is tucked back away in the woods a bit. Very quiet though there are several neighbors within easy walking distance. The stream by the cabin was cute and provided nice background noise. Cabin was cool even in July due to the trees providing shade and the breeze that blew through. Do take bug spray for evening times. Older but with updated kitchen and bathrooms, nice large open living space, nice towels/sheets. was more than enough space for myself, husband and one child. It would be tight for two adult couples with kids (one queen, one full bed and two twin beds--the full and twins are in same room) but perfect for a couple and several children. Is about a 40 min drive to monarch area but not a difficult drive. Would definitely stay again, owner very easy to work with and available for questions.

Cozy cabin tucked away on the mountain side!

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful get away with the family! So quite and peaceful with the stream rolling in the background. Highly recommend to anyone considering the trip. Close enough to easily enjoy the tourist attractions but far enough away to unplug and relax!

Great secluded hideaway

  • 4 of 5

The house was a great base for us in our vacation. We were within an hour of the Royal Gorge and Rafting with Clear Creek near the entrance to the Royal Gorge, and probably within 30 minutes of Salida. We also found a great burger place in Canon City. If you get a chance, try Bunkhouse Burgers. For dessert, Try The Cup and Cone.

At first we were disappointed that we had no cell service or WiFi, but soon realized that it forced us to disconnect from the everyday world and enjoy game time with our two youngest children.

I would recommend getting detailed directions from the owner before you get there. Google maps will take you there perfectly, but it is so secluded that you will doubt you are in there right place.

Great relaxing stay in a great little cabin.

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely great!! We spent our days hunting and our nights at the cabin. This cabin was clean and very quite. We were able to meet some very nice people in the area and gained life long friendships. If your looking for a clean quite place you need to come here.
