This was a lovely experience for our family. We loved the quiet tranquil days the property offered. We were only minutes from the activities we wanted to do. The farm house feel was great!

Very pleased with the house and our host Sharon. The house was located on a beautiful piece of property on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. There was plenty of room for all that stayed overnight. And for the extras that live in town to come over for dinner. 23 total!Sharon has the kitchen stocked well. She also had paper products in kitchen and baths. House was clean and beds made with country quilts. Sharon was attentive and answered all questions quickly.We are thinking about coming back during the summer to use the porches and fire pit and enjoy the river.Thanks again Sharon we had a wonderful time.Jane Thanksgiving 2025

Family

We live in Cumberland, MD and had family coming up from Florida. My niece was getting married in Luray. We found this house that was perfect for our large family and only 20 minutes away from the wedding site. Loved the charm and the closeness of the river. And it was great to all be together to spend time with the Florida family too.

Great stay for a local livestock show

We had a great time and PLENTY of space for our 3 families of all ages. It was off the beaten path but within 10 min to everything you could want. Home is so spacious and the owner was amazing to work with! She even left breakfast goodies. There are little bars but remember, you’re on the river so it’s expected and they communicated that. The water has a terrible smell at first because again, your on the water but once you run it a bit l, it cleared right up. We would absolutely reccomend this home!

Surprise 70th birthday celebration

Invited family from out of state to surprise my husband for his 70th birthday. Location allowed everyone to spread out as needed. The dining setting is perfect for large groups. Great time had by all.

Great farmhouse in the country!

Great old farmhouse in the country with lots of charm! Beautiful views of the mountains and fall foliage. Lots of space to spread out and great for just being outside. Far enough away from the city but still close to shopping and other activities. Would definitely go back!

Country Living

The house was definitely rural. The river flowing by was very peaceful. The big yard is a great place for kids to toss a ball. The best time to stay would be late spring, summer, early fall.

Excellent House for River Tubing/Float

House is nice in size, and has beds for friends and family to get together for a river float. Everything needed is at the house and the property manager is easy to get in contact with. Internet and AC are bonus!

Tubing bachelor party

Great place for our tubing bachelor party. The house was clean, great location, plenty of space and bedding for our group! They were able to accommodate our last minute request to increase our increase of guests. It was perfect and close to the river rider outfitters, for tubing down the Shenandoah river. We will definitely stay here again for the next event down by luray! Great place and a great host!

Wonderful house and stay!

This house is the best! Clean! Very Clean. We stayed here 2 nights we kayaked and floated the river every day. It’s very convenient area for a nice float. Some of us fished. Fishing was great! 7 of us stayed in the house. We were very comfortable. Some rooms you have to walk through to get to others. We loved it! We took our side by sides so we could pull our kayaks back to the house. The house has a kitchen fully equipped, and supply’s coffee. We had eggs and bacon in the fridge as well. There is also a gas grill! Check in and out was great! As always we leave a house like we found it! We will be back for a longer stay next time!

River Relaxation & Tranquility

My wife and two young children had a wonderful, peaceful, and relaxing stay. The old farm house has lots of character and tons of space relative to our DC row house. The views of the river are beautiful from the covered porches. The kids (5 and 8) never seemed to get bored playing in the small stream that flows down one side of the property. It provided hours of largely supervision-free entertainment for them. There is easy access to the river. Downtown Luray, the caverns, restaurants, grocery stores are all a short drive (~10 mins) away, but on the farm, you feel completely secluded from the outside world. It's just you and the cows. Sharon was incredibly responsive and very easy to work with. Our only hesitation about recommending this house is that it might make it more difficult for us to rent in the future.

Nice location, authentic farmhouse

We rented this property primarily to accommodate some family and friends attending our small wedding in Luray because it has several bedrooms. One thing to note is that the host charges $50 extra per night per person, which is not disclosed on the listing. So if you are looking to add additional people beyond your reservation, keep that in mind. The house is definitely laid out for a farm family and would be easier with a family group rather than a mixed one. It has 5 bedrooms on the second floor, which are connected to each other and share the same bathroom. One set of bedrooms (queen and double) don't have a door between them and the other set (king, queen, and twins) have only one door to the main hallway and means that anyone staying in the queen or twins has to come through the king to use the bathroom in the hall. Overall, the quality of the house is adequate and the first floor is more spaciously laid out. Lastly, there is a lovely view of the river but remember, it's Virginia so deer ticks are a thing.

Beautiful property but no curtains

Loved the gorgeous fields, cows, river and serenity it brought. + lots of windows but - not much sleep past 6am, so bring a sleeping mask. Water is sulfuric. If you run it for a bit, as host suggests in notes, it tastes fine. All of us felt the house smelled like eggs though. Candles helped. Two who took showers said it never really got hot. Also, it didn’t seem clear in photos that my adult son’s bedroom and mine would have no door between. I asked for 3 rooms and got them, but the room with the pillow saying “love you to the moon and back” is a walk through the room with the blue and pink quilt. So be sure you clarify separate bedrooms. It really is a beautiful place!
