River's Edge Shenandoah Riverfront Cabin

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Cabin On The South Fork Of The Shenandoah River.

River's Edge is the perfect house for couples or small families looking for a quiet getaway. There is plenty to do at the cabin or within a 15 minute drive. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, 3 bedrooms (2 full, 1 queen, 1 full), 2 full baths, gas grill, and a covered deck overlooking the river. There is a fire pit overlooking the river for quiet evening campfires. A canoe, 2 kayaks, and tubes are also available for fun in the river. We prefer no more than 4 responsible adults or a family of 6. Although for most guests it isn't an issue, please note that the yard does slope down to the river. The cabin is located 5 miles north of Luray and just a short drive to Shenandoah National Park and Andy Guest State Park.

About Jeff and Lori Perry

My husband I are both teachers who moved to Virginia from Maryland about 16 years ago.

Jeff and Lori Perry purchased this house in 2000

Why Jeff and Lori Perry chose Rileyville

We love the quiet and beauty of the Shenandoah Valley. We were fortunate enough to find this property right on the river where we could build our own cabin. Nothing beats having the Shenandoah River right out your front door.

What makes this house unique

We can swim, fish, and canoe right from the house. Evening campfires overlooking the river are the perfect way to spend an evening after a day in the water. There is plenty to do without leaving the house.

Great Trip!

  • 5 of 5

My family had a great time staying at Rivers Edge! The place had everything you needed for a family gathering- from indoor games to outdoor games of corn hole and use of two kayaks on the river, well equipped kitchen for preparing family dinners, a comfy living room area, comfy beds, and a fantastic wrap around front porch with views of the river. What impressed our family the most was the cleanliness of the house and the hospitality of the hosts. You could not ask for better hosts! Thank you Lori for all your kindness and use of your lovely home! We can't wait to come back!

Cabin was very nice, big back yard to the river. Just like the pics show. Very private, even with owners living right next door. Jeff the owner came over and checked to see how we were doing and to see if we needed anything. He was very nice and answered questions we had about the area and very helpful about the river and fishing. I’ve done the beach thing for years as my daughter was growing up. I could spend 2 weeks at this cabin for the price of one week in OC. Five people were supposed to go, only 3 of us made it. It was more by far than what we needed, we were there to do some serious fishing. But we were all happy with this place. If you wanted to take the family to the river and have all the accommodations of home this is it. Even a laundry room, washer and dryer. Plan on going back to the Shenandoah River every year. We went to the North Fork two years ago and was great as well, but I really liked the South Fork. If you go, be sure to do a float trip for at least a few miles, the beauty is a blessing from God, and you will be thankful for the unplug that we seem to allow to take over in our everyday life.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We were so glad you were able to enjoy some fishing before the rains moved into the area. Jeff enjoyed talking fishing with you, and we appreciate how well you left the cabin. We'd love to have you again if you return to the area.

River Oasis!

  • 5 of 5

River’s Edge is well- named. There is a lovely view of the Shenandoah. The setting is idyllic and the home is very comfortable. It was well stocked with everything one could imagine needing- sunscreen, bug spray, flour, sugar, spices, aluminum foil, etc. My only complaint is our time was too short- we did not want to leave.

Beautiful Property - Exactly what we hoped for

  • 4 of 5

Such a great time staying at River's Edge. It was exactly what we were hoping for - a well kept home on the river, close to Shenendoah NP. Also, I can't say enough about how generous Jeff and Lori were with their time and wisdom. They know the local area, can recommend great places to visit and helped us do the things we wanted to do: tubing, kayaking, hiking, caving, etc...

The only reason I didn't give this review 5 stars was because of the beds. They were older mattresses and caused my wife I and some back pain. (Bring your ibuprofen). But I love camping and I should rightly blame myself for not doing enough situps.

We would love to stay there again next year.

Owner's Response: We're glad you enjoyed the area and the house. We are fortunate to have great river access and be in close proximity to a lot of activities. The mattresses aren't very old, but I'm sorry they didn't suit your needs. Thanks for staying!
