River's Edge is the perfect house for couples or small families looking for a quiet getaway. There is plenty to do at the cabin or within a 15 minute drive. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, 3 bedrooms (2 full, 1 queen, 1 full), 2 full baths, gas grill, and a covered deck overlooking the river. There is a fire pit overlooking the river for quiet evening campfires. A canoe, 2 kayaks, and tubes are also available for fun in the river. We prefer no more than 4 responsible adults or a family of 6. Although for most guests it isn't an issue, please note that the yard does slope down to the river.
My husband I are both teachers who moved to Virginia from Maryland about 11 years ago.
Jeff and Lori Perry purchased this house in 2000
We love the quiet and beauty of the Shenandoah Valley. We were fortunate enough to find this property right on the river where we could build our own cabin. Nothing beats having the Shenandoah River right out your front door.
We can swim, fish, and canoe right from the house. Evening campfires overlooking the river are the perfect way to spend an evening after a day in the water. There is plenty to do without leaving the house.
This is a nice cabin in a rural area on the river. It satisfied our need of 3 bedrooms and 2 bath rooms. The weather was super the day we arrived. Everyone played in the river(shoes were a big help), then the kids played corn hole while we cooked on the grill. That evening we had s'mores at the fire pit by the river. Saturday was cool and rainy, so we went to the caverns in Front Royal and then went to meet Cooter from The Dukes of Hazard at his restaurant. By evening it had stopped raining and we were able to take a hike in the woods by Jeremy's Run. Sunday morning was spent packing up and cleaning up, but with the cleaning supplies available, and everybody pitching in, it didn't take long. My oldest was already talking about coming back during the summer time when we could spend more time in the river. We had a great time here!
The River’s Edge is without a doubt the best vacation place in the Shenandoah river. Lori and Jeff are responsive and approachable. Everything in the house was perfect! I do have to say something about the two star review on this site; we have stayed in a few cabins in the Luray area and have paid the “cleaning” fee in all of them, just to find the places not really clean. We found River’s Edge very clean and left it like we found it, and better yet, we saved the “cleaning” fee! Gas Grill was practically brand new, kitchen was very well stocked. Living room set was very comfortable and the fireplace was awesome. We find the low star review a bit unfair.
Thank You Lori and Jeff, We are looking forward to our next year’s vacation time at the River’s Edge!
The cabin was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. My wife and 3 year old son had a very relaxing few days at the cabin. It has everything you could need in the kitchen, plus some extras. The deck has a great view of the river and the rocking chairs make relaxing out there even more fun. The house is very well organized and has all you need to enjoy your stay. Being able to take the boat out on the river a few times really made it memorable. The free firewood was an added bonus and quite helpful. The owners are very nice, flexible, and responsive. I hope to return maybe in the spring and will definitely be recommending this cabin to others.
I can't say enough about our great 3 night get a way in this cabin, just steps away from the river! We had our boys, ages 8 & 13, and there was plenty to do for them. The river was perfect, was worried it wouldn't be high enough since we have had no rain all summer, but it was perfect for kayaking! They enjoyed the kayaks, fishing off the canoe, and especially the fire pit with smores every night! Weather was perfect, owners gave us lots of advice on attractions and places to eat in town. Definitely spend a day or two at Shenandoah National Park, its a must for everyone! You don't want to miss this place, its a little gem! We hope to be back next summer! Thanks again Jeff & Lori!
We really enjoyed our stay at rivers edge! The cabin was nice an clean an we had plenty of room! We had fun kayaking down the river an usin the tubes also! You can sit on the front porch an see an hear the river. We all had a great time an if we get a chance will be back!
We had a wonderful time here during the memorial day weekend. The home was exactly as was listed and we enjoyed the grounds, river and the house. Had a great relaxing time. Hope to come back again!
River's edge cabin is located just 5 miles north of luray off of route 340 in page county, Virginia. Just walk across the yard to enjoy water activities such as canoeing, kayaking, tubing, swimming, and fishing in the Shenandoah river. There are many options for day activities including exploring luray caverns, hiking in Shenandoah national park, taking a scenic drive on skyline drive, and visiting local wineries and civil war battlefields. Lake arrowhead, only 20 minutes away, has a sandy beach for swimming. Other nearby activities include zip lining and horseback riding. In the evening, enjoy cooking hotdogs and smores on the outdoor fire pit. In the winter months, Bryce and massanutten ski resorts are about an hour away.
