Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Cabin On The South Fork Of The Shenandoah River.

River's Edge is the perfect house for couples or small families looking for a quiet getaway. There is plenty to do at the cabin or within a 15 minute drive. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, 3 bedrooms (2 full, 1 queen, 1 full), 2 full baths, gas grill, and a covered deck overlooking the river. There is a fire pit overlooking the river for quiet evening campfires. A canoe, 2 kayaks, and tubes are also available for fun in the river. We prefer no more than 4 responsible adults or a family of 6. Although for most guests it isn't an issue, please note that the yard does slope down to the river.

About Jeff and Lori Perry

My husband I are both teachers who moved to Virginia from Maryland about 11 years ago.

Jeff and Lori Perry purchased this house in 2000

Why Jeff and Lori Perry chose Shenandoah Valley

We love the quiet and beauty of the Shenandoah Valley. We were fortunate enough to find this property right on the river where we could build our own cabin. Nothing beats having the Shenandoah River right out your front door.

What makes this house unique

We can swim, fish, and canoe right from the house. Evening campfires overlooking the river are the perfect way to spend an evening after a day in the water. There is plenty to do without leaving the house.

Great house....great location

  • 5 of 5

My family had a fantastic time on a short 3 night stay. The house was large enough to comfortably sleep our 9 (we are fine being packed in a bit!:). The beds were comfortable, kitchen well stocked. Our two favorite parts of the home is the covered deck that faces towards the river where we spent the early mornings and evenings, and the river access. While a bit steep to get down to the water, our family members were fine walking up an down. We spent all three days in our beach chairs in the water! It was heaven on earth! The yard between the house and the river is flat so we were able to play corn hole and CanJam, while making smores in the fire pit. There is a nice large, new stainless steel gas grill that we used to cook out each night. Its also worth noting that the owners were very responsive to all of our questions leading up to, then during our trip. They even allowed me to leave my vehicle at the house on the last day while my son and I did the 9 mile float from Bixler's Bridge....by the way we caught over 60 smallmouth bass between us, all with good size...the largest being 19 inches! We will be back for sure!

Peaceful, Easy Feeling!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to the Shenandoah Valley, and Jeff and Lori's home was a a great choice as our home base. We found the accommodations very comfortable, clean, and well equipped. We were looking forward to the fishing in the Shenandoah River, which is right out back, but the river was really low. Despite that, with a little persistence, we did manage to catch a few anyway. It was a short distance to Skyline Drive, which yielded incredible views of the valley and some great hikes. If you're like us and enjoy a good breakfast, take Lori's recommendation and go to Uncle Buck's in Luray. If you're planning a trip to the Shenandoah Valley and looking for a warm, welcome place to stay, you won't be disappointed with Jeff and Lori's little piece of paradise.

Quiet getaway weekend

  • 5 of 5

This is a nice cabin in a rural area on the river. It satisfied our need of 3 bedrooms and 2 bath rooms. The weather was super the day we arrived. Everyone played in the river(shoes were a big help), then the kids played corn hole while we cooked on the grill. That evening we had s'mores at the fire pit by the river. Saturday was cool and rainy, so we went to the caverns in Front Royal and then went to meet Cooter from The Dukes of Hazard at his restaurant. By evening it had stopped raining and we were able to take a hike in the woods by Jeremy's Run. Sunday morning was spent packing up and cleaning up, but with the cleaning supplies available, and everybody pitching in, it didn't take long. My oldest was already talking about coming back during the summer time when we could spend more time in the river. We had a great time here!

Impressive! A gem by the river!!

  • 5 of 5

The River’s Edge is without a doubt the best vacation place in the Shenandoah river. Lori and Jeff are responsive and approachable. Everything in the house was perfect! I do have to say something about the two star review on this site; we have stayed in a few cabins in the Luray area and have paid the “cleaning” fee in all of them, just to find the places not really clean. We found River’s Edge very clean and left it like we found it, and better yet, we saved the “cleaning” fee! Gas Grill was practically brand new, kitchen was very well stocked. Living room set was very comfortable and the fireplace was awesome. We find the low star review a bit unfair.

Thank You Lori and Jeff, We are looking forward to our next year’s vacation time at the River’s Edge!
