4 Bedroom, 4 Bath (Sleeps 8) nestled amoungst majestic redwoods

Elements Retreat is a majestic compound located on a five acre ridge above historic Austin Creek. With numerous decks, lounge areas, redwood groves, and a beautiful redwood spa, Elements is the perfect place for your friends and family to gather and enjoy the redwoods.

The grounds have been landscaped with indigenous grasses and ferns, highlighting the phenomenal native redwood trees. Pathways wind throughout, offering innumerable walks among ever-changing scenery, including a serene pond and enchanting waterfall to delight and awaken the senses. When you hike from the main compound, pathways become forest trails beckoning further into remote adjoining terrains still on the property Extended walks offer seasonal streams and waterfalls, in addition to Austin Creek itself, with its numerous swimming holes and opportunities for creek wading. The entire retreat is professionally lit to a stunning degree, complimenting its allure day and night

Entertaining large groups is effortless and everyone can have their own privacy, while gathering together in the large entertaining areas.

The Main House: The main house is a contemporary craftsman style structure with a great room, kitchen, master bedroom and two bathrooms. One of which is exceptionally large with multiple shower heads and a Zen inspired private garden. The fully appointed kitchen is centered around a granite island and can accommodate multiple chefs. Appliances include a professional six burner Wolf range/oven, microwave drawer, stainless refrigerator/freezer, and garbage compactor. The Great Room does have the latest in video, audio and Internet capabilities if that need strikes. Built-in Sonos speakers in the Living Room and Bathroom make relaxing in the indoors all the more enjoyable. The lodge is replete with fine attention to every detail, from the refectory style dining table, the deep leather sofa, to custom designed candle chandelier, which radiates throughout the main living area.

The West Terrace and Buddha Garden: The West Terrace and Buddha Garden off the main house is an example of what makes this estate so unique. The outdoor kitchen and gardens were crafted from river stone years ago when the property was a summer campsite. The outdoor kitchen has been restored and updated and includes a state of the art gas BBQ, sink, lighting and herb garden. The original river stone fire pit is now the focal point of a modern and sophisticated outside entertainment area. The dining table was custom made from the center cut of a local redwood tree and seats fourteen plus people. It’s the perfect setting for a large family gathering or a special event. Outdoor speakers are connected to the Sonos system, so you can play music for your entertainment.

The Guest House: The guest house has its own terrace and seating area. Its windows have beautiful garden views too, but with different vistas, giving this two-bedroom space a unique atmosphere and privacy. It has two bedrooms, one with a king and the other with a queen - connected by a hallway to the common bath room. The spacious multi shower head bathroom offers a mini spa experience off a secluded and private patio.

The Cabin: The Cabin is a secluded gem on the compound. It has a king size bed and full bath with an outside shower. It adjoins the large east terrace that has vistas into the Redwoods.

The Yoga Studio: This cute structure is situated in the quiet of the lower gardens. Included are several yoga mats, blocks, weights, and more. It also has a Sonos sound system connected to the main house, controllable by your phone.

About Heather & Bryan

We've lived in downtown San Francisco for the better part of a decade, and often spend summer weekends in Guerneville and Sonoma. We're absolutely thrilled to be the new stewards of Elements in Sonoma County, a very special place.

We've made numerous upgrades since acquiring the property in 2015. Our goal is to create a high end space that exceeds your expectations in every way. We ourselves make it up to Elements on a regular basis and love the serenity that abounds here. It's one of those places that you must visit to truly appreciate.

We both work in the tech industry, but have found a calling in hospitality. We've been hosts on VRBO for over 8 years in San Francisco and Sonoma, having hosted over 300 guests (!) from around the world. Just as we love traveling the world ourselves and love sharing what we can with travelers and hearing their unique stories.

Heather is from Kentucky, works at FitBit, and has come to enjoy taking our dog Pepper to Austin Creek for a game of fetch and a quick swim

Bryan is a Northern California native, works at Google, and has fond memories of driving out to the Russian River as a kid for summer kayaking and relaxing.

Why Heather & Bryan chose Sonoma County

When we first saw Elements, it was love at first sight. You really have to visit to understand the feeling of serenity that surrounds you here. We live in the city, and while we've come to love the convenience of it all, we immediately appreciated that Elements felt worlds apart from all that hustle and bustle even though it was a short drive away - we knew it was a place that we wanted share with family and friends for years to come.

The western part of Sonoma Valley has a much milder climate, which is why its ideal for the Pinot Grapes. This area has a blend of fine wines and great food, along with a unique environment with the Redwoods and Coast.

What makes this estate unique

There is a tranquility and peacefulness to this place that feels unique and special. It's one of those things that must be experienced to be appreciated. The upper deck has this amazing energy about it - it's difficult to describe, but many visitors have agreed they can feel it too.

The views over the redwood forested canyon and the abundant sunlight is really all you need to reconnect with what it means to be alive.

When was the last time you sat in a Redwood hot tub surrounded by 100 ft tall redwoods? The experience cannot be missed.

The Elements features a chef's dream kitchen with a high-end Wolf® 6-burner industrial stove, All-Clad® cookware, microwave drawer, Keurig coffee maker, replete with all the small appliances, cups, glasses, and tools that any chef could ask for.

And while you may be away from it all, you can stay connected at the Elements. With a 150Mbps internet connection and enterprise-grade wireless, you can stay as plugged-in as you want.

Elements is also equipped with a variety of high-tech entertainment options, including a 55-inch curved OLED HDTV, a Sonos sounds system with speakers throughout the property, and Nest thermostats.

Speaking of TV, Elements has a high-end cable subscription, replete with HBO, ESPN, Showtime, On-Demand Movies, and so much more. Additionally, the Apple TV has access to Netflix and several other apps and games. It's a great way to relax after a long day of exploring or wine tasting, or catch up on the game back home.

Rain clouds in the forecast? Don't fret! Elements is also wonderful in the rain - the incredible Austin Creek valley is gorgeous, and you can hear the seasonal creek roar. We're also equipped with technology to keep you warm and safe - the property is connected to a powerful generator and high tech battery systems to ensure that you never lose power.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I stayed at the home with a group of girlfriends for my birthday and it was the perfect setting for a relaxed but luxurious extended weekend. The compound is located in a beautiful location and feels very secluded. There is enough space for four couple to have their privacy but also ideal common areas. The kitchen and electronics are state of the art and the house is beautifully decorated. Tons of wineries within 30 minutes away and a nice local town with a grocery store and restaurants 15 minutes away. I wish I could spend every weekend here. Michael was a very attentive host and the house felt like our own for the weekend.

The most incredible home and exceptional experience

  • 5 of 5

My fiance and I spent 4 nights at this amazing home. Calling it a home does not do it justice - it's an experience in nature where the owners thought out every detail. Heather and Bryan were wonderful to communicate with and we hope to go back and stay at their home every year. Thank you!

Gorgeous getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was my second time at Elements with a group of old friends. It's tucked away on a hill, surrounded by trees -- like a giant treehouse. The property, with its separate sleeping quarters and various lounging areas, is thoughtfully laid out, so you can be together without feeling on top of each other. It also has an elegant, minimalist aesthetic (while still being very comfortable) -- a very nice change from the shabby basement furniture or country cute you often get with vacation rentals. We hope to come back again.

Enchanting forest

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time at Elements. The setting is very private, quite, exactly what I was looking for. It was awesome to wake up in the forest, drink coffee and look at the trees. I loved that we could spend time together with my parents in the main house and take an advantage from staying in separate houses when we needed it.

Out kid had so much fun at the yoga house. I hope we left everything in the right place.

Thank you for excellent bathrooms, comfortable beds, fun washer and drier, well equipped kitchen, the web, Netflix, the heater in the house. It does matters.

Amazing property

  • 5 of 5

My 3 girlfriends and I spent a week in October at the Elements. What a beautiful property. The redwoods are amazing. Enjoyed the hot tub and outdoor kitchen, patio and the guest cottages. Heather could not have been more accommodating. She was quick to respond to any questions we had.

Sonoma County is beautiful and we enjoyed exploring the area. Would definitely highly recommend staying here. Raymond's Bakery is a must see. We went there our first evening for pizza and wine and good music. Their bakery was excellent as well.

Dream getaway

  • 5 of 5

This home was an absolute dream. It's secluded among the grandiose redwoods and has every accommodation you can imagine. Born, raised and living in the city, this was exactly what we needed, a country getaway. The property easily accommodated 8 people and we all enjoyed cooking dinners in the beautiful chefs kitchen and grilling steaks on the outdoor grill. Watching stars from the hot tub was a perfect nightcap. Wine tasting and restaurants were a bout 20 minutes away. You can't go wrong in this "postcard" home. We will definitely be back.
