Sun Dial Lodge is surrounded by thousands of acres of National Forest, which have many beautiful hiking trails, including the Appalachian Trail with both extensive hiking as well as a smaller local trail, which are very close to the lodge.

The Lodge offers spectacular mountain views from almost every room on both the main and the upper level with 30’ ceilings in the main room. The entire interior is constructed of beautiful yellow pine and has been tastefully decorated with the mountain theme. The oversize dining room table will seat 8 with plenty of room to spare.

The Master Bedroom has a comfortable King sized bed, a TV and a screened in private porch. The large master bath has a jetted soaking tub with a separate shower.

On the Loft you may wish to enjoy Billiards by the gas log fireplace. A large desk is situated on the loft for your convince.

The Bedroom on the Main Floor has access to the main porch via double doors, and has a comfortable Queen sized bed, adjacent to the bedroom is the bathroom.

The Lower Level Bedroom contains 2 comfortable Queen size beds, and adjacent to the bedroom is the lower bathroom. Also on the lower level you have a video room with a 50” High definition TV with DirecTV DVD and VHS. You can enjoy the expansive porch on this level with access to the 2.5 acres and out door fire pit.

You will see much wild life in the area; you may spot deer from one of the porches, and sometimes turkey and an occasional black bear as well as humming birds and much more.

Conveniently located only 25 minutes to Blairsville, Blue Ridge and Ellijay, and about 1 hour from Murphy NC, and a choice of 2 rivers for white water rafting. Locally you will find any number of things to keep you occupied.

Dial is one of the most beautiful areas of the North Georgia Mountains, with the Toccoa River near by, and beautiful pastures as well as the Mountains. You will feel as if you were a million miles from civilization and the area is extremely quiet.

About elaine Mcdonnell

We purchased this property as a second home. It has been our dream to own a cabin in the mountains so our ever expanding family could get together and enjoy vacations together. When we walked in and saw the view and the beautiful great room and dining area, we knew that we had found our home. We have had some absolutely magnificent vacations here and looking forward to many more. We have seen most of the Blue Ridge area and have not found an area that we like more. We have a wonderful time exploring the trails and tubing down the Taccoa River. We hope that you will love the Sun Dial Lodge as much as we do.

2nd visit as wonderful as the first!

  • 5 of 5

The Sundail is a beautiful, spacious, inviting property. Our vacation was our second trip, and included the same three couples, and we cannot wait to return next spring. Everything that I wrote in my last year review is still applicable: the privacy of having 3 bedrooms on three levels, the fun of cooking/grilling together, the comfort of the spacious common rooms and of the broad decks and spotless hot tub - perfect vacation for three reuniting couples! Elaine sent us email about fun things to do in the surrounding area, but WE WERE SO HAPPY AT THE SUNDIAL THAT WE ONLY VENTURED OUT ONCE, to the charming little burg of Blue Ridge (consider Harvest on Main for a gourmet lunch). i cannot praise this property enough.

Great place

  • 5 of 5

This was a great cabin to stay in while visiting Blue Ridge. Everyone loved the place and all the room. The kitchen was very stocked and we loved the roomy dining room off of the kitchen. Everyone had their own space and plenty of things to do. The view is beautiful! Great porch to sit on and take in the view. The kids loved the firepit and being in the outdoors, we saw deer two mornings in the yard. The only negatives I could think of would be: the hottub is not ready when you get there you have to turn the temp up and allow it to get hot, need new wash cloths, and a few more candles and flashlights (we were there during a storm and lost power, not a whole lot of options for light).

Mountain bound with grandparents, kids and dogs in tow!! ;)

  • 5 of 5

My family, kids, grandparents, and dogs, all absolutely loved this cabin!! This is by far one of the most well appointed cabins I have stayed in, and we come up yearly and sometimes, when we are lucky more! The cabin is very roomy, the kitchen was well stocked with equipment, etc. the decor was calming and pleasing, and not over done with "themed decor". We enjoyed the view(to die for) in the morning with coffee and the misty clouds, the hot tub, grilled out, had a campfire and made s'mores, played pool, foozball, etc. There was something for everyone! Ours four legged children loved being able to hang out on the porch, thanks to the well thought gate at the front, they thought they had free roam. We stayed for a week, and could stay forever. While in the area we visited Falls creek falls, not too far from the cabin, and a fairly easy trek up. We went To the local bowling alley, headed over to Hiawasee, for the fair. Hiked up to Brasstown bald , kayaked at Vogel, stopped in at sunrise grocery, in Blairsville for boiled peanuts(only the best ever)! Went to Murphy,NC to Field of the Woods, and climbed prayer mountain. Beautiful! We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the mountains, and in this cabin!

Great Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Great cabin with beautiful views. The cabin was well appointed with all necessary kitchen supplies and clean. It is obvious that the owners take great pride in their home and want the renters to be comfortable. It was a great place for us and our dog. Variety of things to do and explore a fairly short drive away. The town of Blue Ridge is a must see. We had a wonderful outing to the Blue Ridge Lake Recreation Area. Our dog went with us everywhere. When locating the cabin, it is the 4th one on the left. The owners were wonderful to work with.
