Quiet cottage on the ocean with great veiws
Seal Cove Cottage was a wonderful, quiet location sitting on the ocean.looking out with wonderful views from the deck and living room. We launched our kayak from the beach/dock daily for paddles in Seal Cove and adjacent areas (could have used theirs). Ten minutes from SW Harbor's restaurants and market. Exactly what we were looking for, and would love to come back.
Cabin was well equipped, views from the deck were awesome. Enjoyed being on the "quiet" side of MDI.
We arrived our first night just at sunset. The views from the cottage were amazing. There was also a path down to the water. We spent our days hiking, biking and kayaking, but tried to make sure that we were back each night for sunset and tide pooling. When the tide was low, we could almost walk out to the seal that hung out on a rock everyday in front of the cottage. They had kayaks, rowboats and a motor boat there for us to enjoy. The cottage was well stocked with everything you need from soap to laundry detergent as well as all the spices you need for cooking. We cooked almost every night. I even boiled lobsters for the first time. The hot water heater was broken when we arrived, but I was very impressed with how fast management responded. The owner, Ginny, came out with the plumber within the hour. They had to order a part and again, I couldn't believe how fast it came. In the meantime, she made sure I had somewhere to shower with hot water. Thank you for a wonderful time! We were sad to leave!
We stayed over Columbus Day weekend and had a wonderful time. The location of the house is amazing, right on the water. The sunsets were gorgeous and we really enjoyed sitting out on the porch in the evening. The house was dog friendly, which was a huge plus because we were able to bring our two dogs. We didn't have the right weather to be able to use the kayaks or row boat, but wandered the beach right in front of the house and did some exploring. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet retreat with amazing views!
Excellent rental for my young family
My wife and I decided to go out on a limb and rent this cabin for our family vacation (us and three small kids), and we sure are happy we did. Dodge Point is one of the most bucolic and peaceful places I've ever had the pleasure of spending time in. The cabin itself was completely stocked, clean, and worked well for the kids, too. They loved the loft! Sunset views were breathtaking, and we all loved playing around in the cove during low tide. It was nice staying on the "quiet side" of Mt. Desert Island - relaxed and not touristy at all, but only a half hour drive from Bar Harbor and the Acadia park loop. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone, and I hope my family has the opportunity to return soon. Much thanks to the owners and caretakers.
Like a kid at Christmas, I was so delighted from the moment we drove onto Dodge Point
and settled in to our cottage in Seal Cove. Well equipped and very comfortable, from the bed linens to the wide array of cookware. Had some cool evenings, was nice having a woodstove. never wanted to leave, and wandered all over the point, and enjoyed many sunsets from both the beach, the dock and our own deck. If you ever want to close your eyes and imagine a peaceful, beautiful spot...this will be it. And we will be back! Thank you so much for sharing this little piece of heaven!
Located on the rugged coast of Maine, Acadia National Park encompasses over 47,000 acres of granite-domes mountains, woodlands, lakes and ponds, and ocean shoreline. Such diverse habitats create striking scenery and make the park a haven for wildlife and plants.
Acadia offers a variety of activities throughout the year. During the summer, spring, and fall 45 miles of carriage roads are ideal for walking, hiking and biking. In addition, over 115 miles of hiking trails offer spectacular ocean and woodland views. Trails range from easy to strenuous.
By automobile, visitors can drive the 20-mile Park Loop Road and take the 7-mile spur road to Cadillac Mountain, both of which include views of some of the most dramatic scenery along the eastern seaboard.
A variety of ranger-led programs, including bird walks, boat cruises, evening slide programs, mountain hikes, stargazing, short talks, and nature walks, are available from late May to mid-October.
