Guestbook comments from the owner

Your house had all the right elements for a mountain house.... spectacular view of the creek, wonderful porches, great beds and bed linens, loved your upscale mountain decor and openness of the whole place! The kids had fine time in the privacy of their lower level space. Hope they didnt do too much damage to ping pong and pool table. Great walking trails and close to town.Loved the shopping!

We'll be back!

Great house and location, but full of mildew

  • 3 of 5

The house, location, and furnishings are all great. Kitchen is well equipped and the porch overlooking the river is wonderful. We used the fire pit one night, which was thoughtfully stacked with wood and located on the banks of the river with mini rapid. Unfortunately the house is in a very shady location and built on the side of a hill overlooking the river. The basement and first floors were very damp and musty and smelled strongly of mildew, which both my son and I are highly allergic to. Owners should strongly consider placing dehumidifiers on these floors. We kept the doors and windows open to try to air it out, but the mildew had permeated all of the furnishings. In addition, I feel that all quilts and bed coverings should be washed between guests - I knew that they hadn't been due to the stains on them. The beds had duvets on them with no covers, which is really gross to me. We were hoping to have found a place that we could rent each month, but unfortunately not.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our 5th or 6th year of enjoying this beautiful, well maintained property. Furnishings exceptional, wonderful screen porch view of gurgling creek and whitewater over large rocks. Walk out the front door and start hiking, or find one of many private spots for reading. We find the creek area especially nice, with hammock, chairs, and outdoor fireplace!

So relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This house is great. It's easy to get to from town. The stream is really lovely. The only slight down side is that the house is the middle of three houses on a small private road and the houses are kind of close. Still private but not an isolated cabin. The stream, fire pit and porch make up for it.

Owner's Response: This ' upscale cottage' - "On-The-Rocks" - is nestled between 2 privately owned cottages on 3.09 acres each with their own siting 'down creek'. Mature trees and lush vegetation provide a natural screen between the 3 homes. "On-The-Rocks" ' beautiful siting overlooks the "big" creek; gently sloping boulder stone steps adjacent to our cottage provide private access to the gurgling shoals, 'swimming hole', and fire pit with Adirondeck chairs seating. An oversized hammock secured by 2 towering hardwood trees completes this nature's play yard. We hope our guests find their stay a true retreat! Thank you for the 5 STAR rating! We hope you ll return again soon!

Beautiful place, great location

  • 5 of 5

This house is much prettier in person, the pictures don't do it justice. It was nestled on the creek and the sounds were so relaxing. We would definitely go back. The Highlands downtown area was charming.
