About RC

I am a Dad with 3 children. I have been going up to the cabin since 1967, and my kids have been going up since they were newborns.

RC purchased this cabin in 1965

Why RC chose Northeast

I purchase the cabin from my two aunts, my uncle and my father when they inherited it from my grandmother after her death. I have been going up there since 1967.

What makes this cabin unique

Very close to the lake. No highway noise. Very private location. Cabin rates high on character and charm. Cabin is a great place to escape from city life and read, talk, sleep, walk, hike, play games, etc.

I love this cabin

  • 5 of 5

It was the third time we went to Rick's cabin and we have loved it everytime, inside and out. Beautiful location right by the shore of Lake Superior, private. Although the cabin is small, it has a spacious family room with a big fireplace and extra space for sitting and staring at the lake. It's perfect for our family of four, the first time we went there the kids were 6 and 8. The cabin is about 15 min drive to the ski resort. A wonderful place to relax and have quality family time.

Great Old Northern MN Cabin

  • 4 of 5

This cabin reminded me of my family's old Northern Minnesota cabin and was very much what I wanted to show my kid....a taste of what it was like when I was younger. It is a classic cabin with an amazing location on the lakeshore and the views and experience were top notch. The cabin was well maintained and accurate to the website description. The check-in procedure and response from the owner were as advertised and helpful. I would recommend this cabin to others and consider staying there again.

Beautiful Quick December get away

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time up at the cabin this time around. It's absolutely awesome to be here in the winter. Very cozy. The cabin itself was clean and cozy as usual. Do not attempt to drive down to the cabin in the winter unless you have good 4 wheel drive!! Park above the cabin and use the stairs down.

Quiet and Scenic weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had another great stay in mid November. Can't say enough about the beauty of the north shore and the property itself. Everything was as explained. Rustic and completely peaceful. Thanks again.

Great Location! View is amazing.

  • 4 of 5

We had a great weekend at the cabin. Location. Location. Location. Nice flat ground level. Cabin is rustic but nice. Really does not have a bedroom. I'd call it a studio layout or open floor plan - no real walls to form a bedroom. The loft stairs are more like a ladder. We did not use the loft because of that reason and it was very warm up there. We had bon fires on the rocks at night - it was so amazIng. Thanks!

Cozy Memorial Day

  • 4 of 5

We had such a wonderful weekend! It was our one-year anniversary and the cabin was the perfect get-away. It rained for much of our stay, but we enjoyed hanging out by the big indoor fireplace, reading by the big windows, and hiking by Cascade Falls once the weather cleared. The owner was always quick to respond and very helpful. The outside of the cabin could use a little TLC, and the mattresses could stand to be updated, but other than that everything was perfect! Grand Marais was just a short drive away, where we got groceries, hung out at the brewery and coffee house, and did some shopping. Best of all, we LOVED the backyard access to Lake Superior and the private rock shoreline where we watched the waves and stargazed at night. We would DEFINITELY recommend staying here!
