LA CASITA CELESTIAL, as the name implies, is a Heavenly Place. From the moment you approach the stone-embedded welcoming mat, you’ll know that you are in for a “stellar” experience.
Its GRACIOUS CENTRAL ROOM is filled with stars – and a comfortable sitting area, a high-definition television with American and Canadian programming, a cozy kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances, and an eclectic library including books on Mexico – its rich history and culture, its politics and tourist attractions, and, especially, its remarkable arts and crafts. You also have super high speed internet service, a rarity in Mexico.
A large sliding glass door allows you to walk onto THE TERRACE WITH ITS MAGNIFICENT PALAPA, a thatched roof structure used since the time of the Mayans and Aztecs to capture sea breezes and keep COOL.
Under the palapa is your own private, cooling plunge pool, and classic equipal furniture for dining or relaxing. Surrounding you is lush jungle with its fascinating birds, butterflies and other wildlife.
There are TWO BEDROOMS, each with its own bath and distinctive character, filled with works of Mexican artists from all around the Republic. Keeping with the celestial theme, one bedroom celebrates the sun rising from the east, with roosters standing as a mute reminder that there is a great day a-dawning. The other celebrates the moon shining out over the Gulf of Cortez with owls keeping watch over your deep and restful sleep. To aid in that sleep, both bedrooms are air-conditioned.
CASITA CELESTIAL is part of a three-house villa -- VILLA DE VISTAS (The House of Views). LA CASA QUE CANTA (The House that Sings – 6000 sq. ft., 3 bedrooms, 4 baths) sits on the top of the hill. EL NIDO DE LA TORTUGA (The Nest of the Turtle – 900 sq. ft – two bedrooms, one bath) is nestled into the hillside underneath LA CASA. Another long stairway down leads you to CASITA CELESTIAL.

About Melissa Roberts
A note from Melissa and Bill Roberts: Although we know you will be pampered by our staff in San Pancho, we also want you to know a bit about us. We have lived most of our adult life in Middletown, Connecticut, where Melissa has been a school social worker and Bill a clergyman, and then a consultant. When we were in our thirties with three young sons we built a home on Cape Cod, which became a very special place for our family. But as the boys grew up, moved away to the west coast, and had children of their own, we decided to relocate our vacation home to a place more convenient for them. We found this precious little pueblo called San Pancho and built a very impressive home there. Actually, we built three inter-connected homes. We will say more about the town and our homes in a moment, but we want to underscore how important both friends and family are to us. We like to think that anyone who rents will also value friends and family and cherish this exquisite vacation home.
Melissa Roberts purchased this House in 2009
Why Melissa Roberts chose San Francisco
San Pancho. The Jewel of the Mexican Rivera. The Cultural Center of the State of Nayarit. A charming little Mexican town which has not yet lost its character even as it has provided hospitality to a relatively small group of Americans and Canadians. We are so grateful for the welcome we have received from the folks who have lived here for generations. But we also pleased to be part of an expatriate community that respects the people and the traditions of the Mexicans. Our guests regularly comment that it is wonderful to be a bit removed from the village. It is quiet here. The primary sounds are the pounding surf, the rustling leaves of the palm trees, and the singing of birds -- some of whom cackle more than they sing. The property provides a perfect combination of surf and turf, in this case the turf is a jungle. The CASITA is one of three homes on this property. It is completely separated from the other two, entered by its own stairway or, in the other direction, by a path through a stunning tropical garden. It has its own dipping pool, its own outdoor sitting area, and a large palapa, which ushers sea breezes into the house.
What makes this House unique
We worked with three architects in designing this house. Part of the reason we had so many is that we were determined that we could create characteristics in a single building project which, on the surface, might seem contradictory. But we believe we have been successful in pulling things together. Some examples: 1) The house is utterly open to the natural world, just spilling out into the jungle, yet it can be closed up almost totally, protecting us and providing us with wonderfully intimate places to talk, and eat, and read, and just BE. 2) Our Villa is three homes, which means you can have a large group here, BUT you can also use it as a quiet place for a romantic getaway for two. 3) All three houses have high quality appliances, purified water, and air conditioning. The glassware and the serving dishes, the furniture and the woodworking, the lights and the tiling -- all things that allow us to show off the exquisite Mexican craftsmanship that we have discovered in traveling through the country. 4) We are quite close to the beach and to town, but we are far enough away and are so totally self-sufficient that we avoid the noise and even the traffic of this growing, bustling little pueblo.

- Primarily, the location -- five minute walk from beach and twenty-five from town. Secondarily, the setting -- CASITA CELESTIAL is located in a verdant jungle garden which uses native plants, some of which were on the property when we purchased it...and some of which were purchased from knowledgeable sources and planted by Melissa and Rodrigo, our property caretaker who is a fine gardener.

Relaxing and enjoyable!
Casita Celestial is exactly what you see in the pictures. Large bedrooms with your own bathrooms. Large working kitchen and a secluded palapa to sit and enjoy your morning coffee or night cap with the distant sound of the crashing waves. Short walk down to the beach to relax, take sun, watch the pelicans dive for food or watch the fishermen catch fish off the beach. The waves are good for surfers or boogie boards and to enjoy to cool off. Everyone in San Poncho is friendly and helpful and for the foodies, the restaurants are fabulous!! You can walk into town either by road or beach, approx. 20-25 mins and very safe. Just be prepared for the stairs from the road to the Casita it is a hike up. At the Casita and the property of Villa de Vista the staff of Iris , Rodrigo and Naoymi are wonderful. You ask and they will provide the best they can and ever so helpful. The owners, Bill and Melissa are gracious hosts and you can see the pride in the way they talk and take care of their beautiful home. Muy Beuno!!
Leila, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in our Casita Celestial with your husband and friends. Sometimes we are on property--and this was one of those times--so we had a chance to interact with you and see your wonderful zest for life!
Nice quiet location.
The property is very nice. The unit we stayed in is rather dark. Be sure to agree on price for travel to and from airport or into Sayulita
Being here is like taking a calming breathe of fresh air.
We only had time for 5 days here but even that was enough for us to become refreshed. The information we received pre visit from Bill and Melissa was very complete. I have found it much easier to "do what I have been told" when staying in an area that is not familiar and we took full advantage of their suggestions - airport pick-up, rental cars, massages, restaurants and so on. Their home has been carefully thoughtout and decorated with attention to detail. We leave here today with complete confidence that we shall return. LM
We are delighted to know that you found our Casita Celestial to be a place of refreshment and renewal.
Great casita, hidden oasis!
Words can't adequately describe this little oasis! Situated in a perfect setting, well appointed, excellent attention to detail in design and simply a very enjoyable and comfortable place to spend time.
We used the casita as a base for our time in San Pancho and it was a perfect setting to start your day, just hang out or return to after a long day of exploring. Minutes from the beach yet tranquil in a quiet jungle setting. The casita is part of a larger complex with a the main house and another two bedroom unit but set off affording privacy. The owners, who were gracious enough to spend some time with us, take pride in their home and provide an excellent place to stay. The staff are very helpful and attentive taking great pride in in maintaining the grounds and the units. We have stayed in San Pancho many times and would rate Casita Celestial as one of the best. We'll definitely look to return our next time in SP.
It gives us great pleasure when we hear that our guests experience our Casita Celestial as an oasis in the jungle, a comfortable place to relax and renew. Thank you for telling us--and others who read your positive review.
Most relaxing San Pancho vacation of the four we have taken
We came back to the Casita Celestial because of our great experience three years ago. "Casita" may convey the wrong impression - it's not a tiny unit: two full-size bedrooms with comfortable King beds, a full-size kitchen with a huge island for preparing meals, working, laying out your "compras", etc. drinkable water from the tap, lots of hot water feeding two large tiles showers, short 10-minute walk to the North end (least used) of the gorgeous San Pancho beach, lots of room under the large palapa for yoga, reading, etc. This time, the Roberts (owners) were in the "big" house - the Casa que Canta - and could not have been more gracious, reaching out to their two guest couples with local background and information, and to ensure we were comfortable. We always enjoy walking into town and back, sometimes pausing at favorite stops along the way, such as the Café Manana (for Oaxacan coffee roasted onsite, baked goods, and books) or for breakfast at any number of places - large or small, gringo-fied or local - along the Avenida Tercer Mundo.
Exceeded our expectations!
Staying in a lush garden/jungle setting was relaxing and refreshing. There were multiple areas for the 4 of us to spend our time either alone or enjoying each other's company. The house was nicely situated in a quiet area from which we had a comfortable walk into town each day. We thoroughly enjoyed the yoga center, walking along the roads, surfing, birding, watching the sunsets from the beach, and eating what ever we wanted at as many restaurants as possible (town deep water well provides clean water). We were lucky enough to meet the most gracious owners who could not have been more generous with their time and information. Bob, their property manager, was also very helpful and always responded to our email/text queries almost immediately. On short notice, Bob was able to arrange massages for my daughter and myself on the palapa of the casita. We had very positive experiences with everyone that we interacted with in San Pancho. This was a wonderful easy going trip for my husband and myself and our east coast daughter and her partner.
Location
The CASITA CELESTIAL IS A FIVE-MINUTE WALK TO THE BEAUTIFUL SAN PANCHO BEACH! It is a twenty-minute walk to the center of the pueblo. It is situated in a beautiful jungle garden which includes a hammock grove and also a "beach" patio for sitting. It is part of a three-house villa. You might want to look at the VRBO sites # 244889 and 283934. Finally, we want you to know that the CASITA is beautifully appointed. Every room has Mexican arts and crafts that were commissioned just to carry out the theme of a little house that sits in a jungle and celebrates the heavens -- stars, sun, moon.
