Condo, 3 Bedrooms , 3 Baths, Sleeps 6
If you’re looking for the perfect spot in Kona for your Big Island vacation, you’ve found it with our owner-rented home in the Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club. Our 3 bed – 3 bath condo provides guests three private sleeping areas and is ideal for families or up to 3 couples. The condo is centrally located in Kona just 10 minutes from Kailua and 20 minutes from the Keahole International Airport (KOA) in the Keauhou Resort area. Together, this location, the Kona Surf and Racquet Club complex and our upgraded unit offers one of the best vacation experiences on the Big Island.
We’re very proud of our condo and hope your vacation experience will be fit for a King!
Our two story third floor property has been tastefully renovated and furnished. The condo has wood floors throughout the living area, granite kitchen countertops and new appliances. There are three California King beds to provide ample space for guests of any size and the second floor suite with its own bath, TV, and office area gives a larger group plenty of space to spread out. High speed wireless internet, cable TV and Hawaiian music on the stereo are standard as well.
There are eight large overhead fans to keep you cool on the warmest afternoons and the area is designed for good airflow with vaulted ceilings throughout. Of course, the lanai will provide the “coolest” area of all and has electric screens to block the indirect afternoon sun as well as an overhead fan.
We’ve also equipped the condo with everything you need for a great time including a full, well equipped kitchen, refrigerator with an automatic ice maker, dishwasher, snorkel equipment, beach chairs, boogie boards and shore fishing gear.
If you’d like some help with what to do in the area, we’d be happy to provide a list of our favorite things to do on the Big Island.
KEAUHOU KONA SURF AND RACQUET CLUB
Lying on the ocean side of Alii Drive, the KKSRC is a gated complex consisting of oceanfront, fairway and garden condominiums. Our unit has a beautiful garden view with a lot of privacy relative to many others in the area. All units have oceanfront access providing an opportunity to stroll along the coast, fish or watch beautiful sunsets just 150 steps from the unit. The shoreline also provides good elevation to watch the whales on their annual visit to the islands during the winter months.
Although much of the waterfront is lava, there is easy walking access to a sand beach with tide pools just north of the resort area and the reef just off shore provides good shore fishing opportunities as well. The resort is directly on the ocean and as all shoreline in Hawaii is public you will have the same access to the beach and shoreline as those renting “oceanfront” units so you’ll feel free to walk anywhere on the grounds or the adjacent properties to the north where an archeological project is taking place.
At the center of the resort complex is a large pool and a covered pavilion with 3 common grilling areas provided around the grounds. The large L-shaped pool has one leg of the L built for small children and the other for swimming. Showers and restrooms are available poolside.
For golfers, the complex is perfectly situated between the ocean and the Kona Country Club, famous for 18 holes of championship golf winding between the ocean and nearby mountains.
Keauhou rests peacefully at the southern end of Alii Drive. In Hawaiian, Alii means King or Chief, and for centuries this area was home to native Hawaiian kings seeking peace, beauty and respite. Alii Drive is the focus for activity in Kailua, just 5 miles north, but the action gets more relaxed as you work your way to the south end. Less than a mile away is King Kamehameha III Ave, a road that links Alii Drive to the mountain highway, allowing you quick access to your best routes either south or north along the Kona coast.
Within two miles of the KKSRC, you can find an amazing number of things to do. In addition to golf, off-site to the north, you can snorkel, swim, take a surfing lesson, kayak or just lay on the beach at the famous Kahalu’u Beach Park. It is known as one of the best and most protected snorkeling areas on the island and it’s less than a mile from KKSRC. Continuing north along Alii, there are a number of beach parks, each with its own unique features.
Going south, peaceful Keauhou Bay has a wonderful swimming and picnic area in addition to the local canoe club headquarters. There are only a few fishing charters that work out of this bay and we can help you make a contact with them if you’re interested in going after the big ones. Beyond the bay is a sacred Hawaiian area that is barren except for a foot trail that you can walk. You’ll see hand-built rock walls dating back more than 100 years and the occasional offering…right alongside a rock climber or cliff diver.
Finally, within walking distance, the Keauhou Shopping Center provides a great place to pick up your groceries, locally caught fish, sunscreen, beer and the flip-flops you left at home. There is also a movie theatre and a number of excellent restaurants. There is even a farmers market on Saturday with live music and many local products for sale.
Beyond the two-mile radius, the Kona coast offers a tremendous diversity of things to do. You might visit a Kona Coffee Farm, take a short tour and taste coffee made from peaberry, snorkel at the location where Captain Cook died in 1779, hike the mountains and shoreline along marked (and unmarked) trails, run on Alii drive (there are markers at each HALF mile), shore fish or charter a boat to catch a fish potentially larger than your rental car, walk to (nearly) deserted beaches, or sample the nightlife in Kailua town.

Why Judy Berger chose Kahaluu-Keauhou
We have vacationed on the Big Island of Hawaii for many years and had been especially happy when we stayed in Keauhou. We decided to make it our permanent vacation destination and share it with you. We live in Minnesota and particularly enjoy the 100 degree temperature difference between Kona and St. Paul in January.

Great Condo, location, clean and inviting
We are originally from the Big Island and were looking at places to stay while we were home visiting family. I have to say that I am very picky about where we stay and during initial booking with the owners, they were very helpful and honest. In arriving we were very impressed with the cleanliness of the place and the amenities that this community provided. The place is fully stocked with dishes, snorkeling gear, towels, boogie boards, etc. The unit is very roomy. We were just a family of 4 and there was a ton of space. Our kids utilized the loft upstairs that allowed my wife and I the downstairs. I have to say that the beds were very comfortable. Normally, the first couple days I stay at a place, I just am not comfortable — but this did not happen. Also, while the unit does not have AC, there are plenty of ceiling and standing fans in the unit - we were never uncomfortable, but just realize this is Hawaii - the weather is tropical! Since this is a top level unit, there was no noise and it was quite peaceful there. Other tenants below are respectful of the quiet hours, so you will not have to worry about wild parties going on.
The pool is large and clean and there are multiple barbecue areas around in case you want to plan a get together with other families. The unit is not on the water, but very close to great sunsets and overlooking the ocean just a few steps away. Being from there, I can tell you the location is good near supermarkets and a pharmacy store.
Lastly, the owners are quite responsive to any inquiry you have and work very hard to make sure your stay is comfortable. If you have any issues , which I doubt you will have, they are quick to contact you and work with you to resolve.
Awesome review D! Thanks for the kind words and please come back again!
Went to sleep listening to the crickets and woke up with the birds singing.
Cyndi, it was great to have your group stay at our place. We're so happy you had a good time. Aloha!
We were their for our son's wedding and all the festivities before. The place was stocked with fun water toys, an excellent set of instructions for everything, and very comfortable. This was our 2nd trip to the Big Island in a year and far exceeded what we found on AIRBNB.
First Class Condo
This condo is fantastic! It is beautifully decorated with quality furnishings and the kitchen has everything you need and more. The three comfortable king beds and three baths were perfect for our three couples stay. It is spacious and the lanai is great for evening cocktails and morning coffee. This condo has everything you need for fun in paradise including snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels and coolers. The Hawaiian music iPod is a nice touch. The owners are great to work with, responding quickly and providing good information for things in the condo and on the island. It's First Class all the way.
Excellent Location for Hawaii Adventure
The condo is well maintained and spacious. The three separate bedrooms allow for privacy. We were pleasantly surprised at all the extras in the condo - no need to rent or buy boogie boards, snorkeling gear, etc. The owners are easy to communicate with and very responsive.
This was a wonderful place to stay! We all had plenty of space and your choices of games and movies helped fill an afternoon of rain. Lots of places say they have fully equipped kitchens but few truly do. Yours definitely qualifies as the best we have experienced. It was easy to make great meals with sharp knives, a rice cooker and a stainless steel skillet instead of only nonstick cookware. We also appreciated all the amenities in the condo for us like all cotton sheets, snorkeling gear, etc.
