We had a fantastic stay! The condo is very well appointed, the bed was comfortable and we had everything we needed. The grounds are beautiful and we were close to everything. Would definitely stay here again!

Please see my correspondence on the VRBO app with Michelle from the vacation rental company. Very poorly worded communication in the listing that the pool and hot tub were closed for renovations. We were very disappointed when finding this out upon arrival. Would have booked somewhere else. Is it possible to get any compensation from VRBO?? The listing is misleading and deceptive. Mention of the closures not seen when it lists the amenities of pool and hot tub in more than one place.

Good location

The unit was very nice, comfortable, and functional with a nice view of the pool area. The resort was conveniently located near restaurants stores, beaches, and all parts of the island. It would have been helpful to have been informed as to the location of the air conditioning remote control which was mounted on the wall. However, the bed was very comfortable and the laundry room was close by and the cost of using the machines was reasonable. There were numerous recreation amenities on the resort grounds. We enjoyed our stay very much and would go again.

housekeeping

was not aware that we had to make an appointment for housekeeping to come.was told if our stay was less than 17 days we were only entitled to one housekeeping visit also wasnt aware we had to wash our own towels not acceptable we were on vacation not there to have to do laundry. Perhaps guests should be made aware of this ahead of their stay.I feel given the amount charged for our stay this should not be the case.Very dissappointed

Nice location and very clean unit

The good: Nice unit with view towards pool; nice sized unit for 2; very clean; easy walk to ocean and townThe cons (our experience only): The person that checked us in gave us a key card which would be expected. However, after lugging our baggage up a flight of stairs, we discovered that this unit has a key lock - not a key card entry. So I had to go back down to the lobby and explain. The person I dealt with was confused so, luckily, a more seasoned individual sorted it out.We get into the unit and discovered the window shutter in the bedroom needed repair - the hinge screws on one side were just about ready to come out. I didn't want to involve the front desk again so I repaired that.There was a short in the microwave above the stove. Luckily I didn't turn it on but I got a call a couple days later telling us not to use it. There's another mw on the counter.No fault of this unit but there are roosters (and noise) constantly. Kauai is famous for roosters on the loose but other properties seem to deal with the situation whereas this one didn't seem to bother with them.There is construction going on in adjacent units. The workers have windows open so you can hear the saws going. We got to listen to tile cutting :(The wifi was dodgy for the first couple days. I had to have maintenance come up twice because just unplugging and plugging the modem and router back in didn't seem to clear things up. After day 3, it seemed to work okay.

Best Vacation Ever

Our vacation was in mid September. We loved our stay at Pono Kai, and hope to return next year. The resort is clean and beautiful. Our room was the right size for two people and it had everything we needed. It was nicely decorated. The staff was friendly and helpful. Location was close to shopping and restaurants. 10 out of 10!!!

Great unit and location

The unit was in a fantastic location, within walking distance to shops and restaurants and easily accessible to activities in the north and south. The grounds of the condo community were well kept and there were many activities. Our only disappointment was that the pool was closed for 3 days during our stay for repairs. These repairs were planned and the property management company could have let us know ahead of time, but did not. I specifically booked a property with a pool so was disappointed we could not use it for several days. I reached out to the property management company and they said they were sorry they forgot to tell us. I asked for a partial refund. They said they would look into it and then strangely asked if I even paid for the condo. They said they didn't see records of my payment. I gave dates and amounts and they cofirmed I paid, but i haven't heard from them since. It was a strange interaction. I held off on writing a review because I wanted to give them an opportunity to right the wrong. Had they tried to do something for us, even a gift card to dinner or something, I wouldn't have mentioned it in the review.

great place to stay in Kapa'a

This is a great unit with view of inner courtyard. Has great murphy bed to pull out for watching TV and extra sleep space. Nice kitchen with everything you may need. Only problem were the roosters who wake you up very early. Staff were excellent.

The resort had a bunch of lawn games, the concierge had all kinds of beach equipment for rent which was great! The room was clean, had plenty of dishes and enough cookware for our purposes.

This condo is in a nice location in the building. Over looks the grounds and pool. Nicely decorated with enough kitchen supplies. Nice breeze thru the unit with screens so you don’t really need the AC

Great Place to Stay

We were impressed with both our condo and the resort. The condo was clean with updated furniture and was well appointed. Shops and restaurants are a short walk and Safeway is a short drive. The resort offers many amenities at no extra charge, such as a pool, hot tub, pickleball court, tennis, exercise room and BBQ facilities.

Comfortable Stay

Pono Kai's been a family favorite because of the location. Property is on the older side (walls are very thin), but overall, a very comfortable stay for my family (with an infant). Check-in and check-out was very easy. Only weird thing about our stay this time around that I don't remember encountering before is that the rooms don't get serviced unless you stay 9 or more days. Would love to have had our place serviced after a few days, being that we stayed 8 nights.

Wonderful trip!

Great location. Very clean and comfortable. Wonderful pool and family games. Great walking access to restaurants, shopping, coffee, beach. Very close walking/biking path along the ocean. Easy access to watch the sunrise each day. Would definitely stay there again.
