The North Shore of Oahu is renowned for its legendary beaches, Haleiwa is a favorite refuge for Hawaii’s residents and a must-see for visitors
Our house is located in historic Haleiwa Town complete with its charming shops, restaurants and art galleries. Nowhere else on Oahu will you find quaint shops and cafes housed in plantation-era buildings. The ocean is right at your doorstep and everything you need for the perfect vacation in walking distance.
Walk to the beach, shops, dining and the boat harbor – where you can go on boat charters, fishing trips, whale watching or rent jet skis. You are steps away from the world famous Alii Beach. Surf, swim, shell collecting, walk on the beach, something for whole family.
Our two-bedroom house has a complete full size kitchen with all the appliances, microwave, oven/stove, queen bed in master bedroom and two twin beds in the second bedroom. There is also one and a half baths. We have basic cable and high speed internet connection. All you need to do is bring your laptop!
Though the trade winds and the ocean breeze typically keep the house cool, we do have ceiling fans throughout the house and AC units in the bedrooms for your comfort.
The house is perfect for small families or groups of 4 people. Come relax, enjoy and experience the North Shore at its finest!

We just returned from our vacation in Hawaii and it was one of the most amazing experiences ever!! The Haleiwa house was not only located perfectly for us but the house was also perfect for us too!!
It was clean and had everything we needed - the kids loved it and so did I!! The kitchen was well stocked, the living room very relaxing and the bedrooms very comfortable. The only thing that could be improved upon would be a newer TV in the living room!
Wendy was just a phone call away and the neighbor was super friendly!!
We will definately be back and are looking forward to our next visit!
My daughter and I were looking forward to a girl’s week in Haleiwa. Upon arrival we were very disappointed in the Haleiwa house. The HomeAway website and photos, totally misrepresented the property. While we were expecting a quaint cottage by the harbor instead, we found a home with much deferred maintenance and the need for a serious cleaning.
If you are planning to visit Haleiwa and are looking for a cute, quaint place to stay this is not it. We understand that older homes have their own character however, the things we found were beyond the character of an old home.
What we found:
- The house had an old and musty smell which required 4 bottles of Febreeze to remove
- Window air conditioners were held in place with masking tape
- Electric outlets held in place with masking tape
- No locks on multiple windows and back sliding door
- Bathtub with black mold growing around rim
- Bed linens frayed and pillows stained (we purchased our own pillow cases)
- Patio furniture broken and covers moldy and torn
- Holes in the front deck from rotting wood, where a child or elderly person could easily trip or get hurt
- Back steps and railing rotten and dangerous
- TV’s old, DVD player broken, no working remotes
- Window shades were filthy
- Bugs and spiders painted into the wall
- Spider webs and built up dirt in cracks and corners
- The one and only smoke detector was found on the ground covered in dust
- Bathroom and Kitchen closets with garbage and discarded ant traps
The one positive for this house was the location and neighbor was a very nice man.
If the home owner or rental agent is interested, we have photos documenting the condition of the house.
I would not recommend this property.
We had a lovely stay in Haleiwa -the house was very comfortable and the location perfect. Sitting on the porch every day watching the boats at the Marina. The town for shops, bank, hardware, supermarket and restaurants only a short 10 min flat walk. Bay beach and surf beach across the road - I literally swam in the bay beach with green turtles rocking up on the shore only a few metres away-no need to do a tour for this (FREE!!!) Earl next door came by to check on us and kindly dropped off mangos and bananas from his backyard plus also took down a couple of coconuts and opened them for us. Wendy our contact was extremely helpful even after I bombarded her with many questions and concerns when we were booking this place from Australia- ALL GOOD - no worries future guests.. we found a nice restaurant down on the corner called "Haleiwa Joes" nice food and great entertainment (a little pricey) but who cares your on Holiday in Hawaii - Have a Mai Tai and let your cares float away. The only small thing is the twin beds in 2nd bedroom - not the size for a growing 14yr old teenager (my mistake) Aloha and Mahalo (thank you)
Love this island every time we come back. Such a beautiful place, almost didn't go home after our holiday...
We stayed for a total of 11 nights. Had up to 6 people staying in the place at one time (Wendy was very accommodating), though most of the time it was less than that. Even with 6, it still felt very roomy. Fully equipped kitchen and living room, including a coffee maker that was integral to some mornings. :)
Super close to everything "downtown" Haleiwa, 10 minute walk max to most of the stores. But also not too busy since you're off the main road. There was a bit of traffic in front of the house, but nothing that bothered us (we are city folk though). Lots of great coffee places, restaurants, surf shops etc in Haleiwa. It is a bit touristy, but it's hard to escape that. You face the harbor, cool to see all the boats going in and out. And a 30 second walk to the beach, which was probably the best part. Great for surfing, lots of locals that go there, does get a bit busy when the wave's good. There's a nice park there too, picnics or sports or anything else that suits your fancy.
Lots of great hikes around as well, we did several. One out by the NW airport (gliding was also really cool!), bunch around the east coast, and a bunch more down in the SE quadrant of the island. There is a bit of driving involved, but you can make a day out of the trips, just avoid rush hour times. Can also recommend Hanauma Bay for snorkeling, or even scuba if you have your own gear / rent some.
After every day it was always nice coming back to this awesome house though, it did feel very much like a home away from home. Cook up some dinner or head into Haleiwa for dinner, relax around the house after a "hard" days work, and pass out in comfy beds, ready to wake up and repeat the next day.
One small note though, and you get this wherever you stay on the North Shore, there's a lot of feral roosters. And they start early. Best to bring earplugs. ;)
We love Haleiwa, and coming for such a short visit from Australia we knew we wanted a space that was private, great location and clean & tidy. Ticked all the boxes! I guess the only downside if it bothered you would be the Televisions are older, with little access to channels. But it wasn't an issue for us we weren't there for television! Loved being able to walk to the beach and down the main street. Wendy was a great help! We can't wait to come back!
We have a 2 year old and a 7 year old and this house was perfect for us. We stayed 6 nights and loved everything about it!!! We were looking for a laid back vacation away from the hussle of the city and we found it. The house is very clean and kept up nicely. With the full kitchen you can fix your own meals rather than eat out for every meal. The house is SO much more than the pictures depict. There is a screened in patio just off the master bedroom that was wonderful for reading and relaxing. The living room is spacious and there is a great patio with table and chairs. The gate at the driveway was awesome as it allowed our children to venture outside without us worried about them going into the street in front of the house. Yes, it's country and yes there is a rooster in the neighborhood but it never woke us up! It's a great home base if you want to venture around the island during the day. We would eat most our dinners on the patio that overlooks the boat harbor. You can walk to the beach and walk to town. Staying on the North Shore is the way to go! Wendy is awesome and was quick to answer any questions we had both before and during our visit. We will be back to Oahu and we will stay again at this house!! I could go on and on about this house and how much we loved it!!
