Bodies of water define much of the physical boundaries of Clare. To the southeast is the River Shannon, Ireland's longest river, and to the south is the Shannon Estuary. The border to the northeast is defined by Lough Derg which is the third largest lake on Ireland. To the west is the Atlantic Ocean.
County Clare contains The Burren, a unique karst region, which contains rare flowers and fauna. At the western edge of The Burren, facing the Atlantic Ocean, are the Cliffs of Moher. The highest point in County Clare is Moylussa, 532m, in the Slieve Bernagh range in the east of the county.

Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
Family was unable to stay at the home.
Unfortunately, my grandmother passed away suddenly before Christmas and the expense involved in dealing with that meant our family could not afford the flights to Ireland. Although we were aware that there was a 'no refund' policy on this property, we hoped that, under the circumstances, the owner might consider refunding at least part of what we had paid or, alternatively, offering the opportunity to move the date to another time -- but the owner did neither. We had been very much looking forward to staying in Ireland for Christmas 2017, but will not rent this property if we have the chance to travel there in the future.
Spotless, roomy, well laid out, 6 bathrooms (!), friendly hosts, the pictures are only half as nice as the real thing. The only negative is that it is basically a 25+ minute ride to anywhere. But it is worth it.
Corlea House is wonderful. Everything you could possibly want is there and if not, Vincent and Mary will find it. A beautiful, spacious and comfortable home with beautiful views of western Ireland. A great vacation!
A fan of Ireland
We spent a week at Corlea House with three other couples and oh what a time we had. The house is big, beautiful, and fully equipped. A perfect set up for 8, both spacious and comfortable with views of the patchwork, rolling green hills you associate with Ireland. Vincent and Mary were more than accommodating, even arranging a ride home for all of us from the local restaurant. We recommend this house to everyone considering a trip to Ireland.
What a find!
We can second many of the comments in the other reviews.
We enjoyed this beautiful house in such a beautiful setting for 1 week. We would have loved to stay longer. We enjoyed the sheep and cows surrounding us! Constenatly, there were beautiful pictures to be taken! As was mentioned the lake was beautiful and the colors did constantly change. One morning the lake was covered with mist or a low flying cloud. We even enjoyed the excitement of learning to navigate the rather narrow winding roads to and from all of our destinations. It was our second trip to Ireland, and this was the way to do it!
As many mentioned Vincent and Mary were very hospitable, kind and helpful people. We aslo had a very good experiance just booking the place with Brethanie. It was truly a home away from home.

Peace & Quiet with Lots of Luxury
We spent 2 magnificent weeks at Corlea House. The house was luxuriously appointed and equipped with everything one could possibly need on holiday. Vincent and Mary who manage the house made us very welcome and ensured that we were thoroughly briefed on all the equipment in the house. To ensure that we had no difficulty finding the property Vincent and Mary met us at a local hotel and led us to Corlea House.
The views from the house across Lough Graney were spectacular and never boring. The colours of the countryside continually changed with the weather (and that changed a lot!). On a good day The Burren and Galway Bay were visible.
There's lots to see aand do in the local area. Bunratty Castle, the Lough Derg Drive, The Burren and the Cliffs of Moher to mention just a few. Be sure to visit Pepper's Bar (Sunday & Wednesday are Irish music nights)
We have no hesitation in recommending this excellent vacation rental
