Why Marcie Miller chose Honokaa
We chose the Hamakua Coast because it gets just enough rain to be lush and green and enjoys lots of sun and amazing views. We chose to be near the Waipio Valley because we love the local people and their affinity for the 'aina, or land. For us, it is important to have our Hawaiian experience be one that honors both people and nature, and we fell in love with the true aloha spirit not always found in more populated areas.
What makes this House unique
Being on the northern tip of the Big Island, we enjoy the glorious colors at both sunrise and sunset. We love the spectacular views from nearly every room in our home, and learned to appreciate watching the changing colors of the ocean as the weather changes. The stars at night are spectacular!

Sports & Adventure Activities
The house was a perfect location for a relaxing getaway. The Waipio valley lookout is basically next door! The hike down to the beach is a rewarding workout with sand you don’t experience many places.
The house was beautiful
The house has everything you need to feel at home. The home is so inviting, you'll never want to leave. The home was clean. The neighbors were quiet. The view was amazing.
Amber, we hope that you can return to visit us soon! We work hard to see that our guests feel at home, and we’re glad we succeeded! Our quiet neighborhood is a great place to come home to after a full day exploring paradise, and we’re glad you noticed!
We were looking for a different experience with this vacation. In the the past we stayed at resorts or hotels and we had no complaint with that experience. This time we wanted something different. What we got was a completely delightful stay in a true Hawaiian neighbor hood in the midst of a beautiful tropical forest, full of the sights and sounds that fills the senses. You can not miss with this home and it does feel like home after a couple days. This is not the resort experience, it is much better.
We are so glad you found our home a welcoming place! For some people, the resorts offer exactly what they need in the way of activities, but the real Hawaii is waiting in the hearts, homes and neighborhoods of local folks. It's why we moved where we did, and we are happy when our guests discover and appreciate it! Please come again and continue your discovery of the Big Island!
Wonderful time at the edge of Waipio Valley
Beautiful home very close to the valley. We hiked down for an entire day and appreciated the home being so close upon our return. Breathtaking views of the ocean and enjoyed watching the horses in the yard. The home is very comfortable.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this charming home with a wonderful view out to the ocean. It was clean and had all the housekeeping items that were needed to make the 4 of us very comfortable. The neighborhood was very quiet and the proximity to the Waipi-o Valley overlook was nice. The closest little town was a fun place for coffee and shopping.
Slice of heaven
From the moment we set foot on this property, we felt a sense of peace. This wasn't just a rental house, it felt like our home! All was accurately depicted, it was extremely clean, and the pillows and bed linens smelled fresh. We chose the softer mattress in bedroom next to the kitchen. The chorus of frogs sang us to sleep at night. We lounged on the porch and watched the ocean for whale's spouting. We hiked to Waipio Valley, waded on the Black Sand beach, and loved feeling at one with God's creation. Victoria, the housekeeper, was available for any questions.
We ate breakfast, lunch, and supper several times at Waipio Cookhouse, an A++rating on quality, quantity, and service! Daily specials along with their regular menu of fresh fish, burgers, grilled eggplant, and local farm raised food.
We could easily live in this house forever, and hope to return soon.
Mahalo nui loa Marcie, and Victoria also!
