Lovely and comfortable place, great location.
Quiet, peaceful, beautiful surroundings, and a very comfortable bed! Short drive to beaches, and very close to Waimea (which has some great restaurants!). Views of soft and green rolling hills. We absolutely loved staying there, and if not for a couple of not-too-serious issues (ants, unusable bathtub for anyone under 6'2") would give this property a 5 star rating.
We are happy you enjoyed your stay at Lokilani and our little slice of paradise on Hawaii Island.
It is a really peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle of Kona and the crowded resorts but still a short drive to the best Kohala Coast beaches and Waimea Town.
I'm sorry you had a bit of difficulty with the copper soaking vessel. I hope the 2 available showers provided a good alternative.
We did experience more than normal rain while you were here which can bring out the ants.
Thank you for being such courteous and respectful guests. You will always be welcome to return to Lokilani.
Aloha and Mahalo,

We stayed here 5 nights and loved the location. Close to Waimea for groceries and restaurants and very handy to the best beaches (great snorkeling) without having to deal with the Kailua-Kona traffic. Easy drive to Hawi and the Pololu Valley (beautiful hike)! The outdoor shower at the house was a nice feature and we appreciated the use of beach towels, beach chairs and guest laundry - (some of the reasons we chose this property). The pictures of the house and grounds are accurate and the owners and their assistant were wonderful to deal with - always very responsive. The location was perfect for me as it was always cooler than staying down by the ocean but wasn't rainy like the east side of the island.
We're so happy you enjoyed your stay at Lokilani.
Our central location is ideal for easy trips to the best Kohala beaches and day adventures to the must see Island sites without the hustle and bustle of crowds of tourists. Our elevation of 1700' provides the perfect climate of warm days and cooler nights.....great for relaxing and star gazing.
Thank you again for your reservation and for being such great guests. You'll always be welcome at Lokilani and we hope to see you again on your next trip to Hawaii Island.

Great hideaway while visiting Waimea
We loved our stay at Matt and Rose's property. We had privacy with a view, a great bed, over-the-top bathroom.
Thank you for being our guests at Lokilani.
We are happy you enjoyed your stay and all the amenities that we provide. The spa bathroom and private outdoor shower always impress.
Comfort and serenity along with everything for a home away from home stay is our goal.

Waimea, also called Kamuela, is the largest town in the interior of the Big Island, and is the center for ranching activities and paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy). This historic area full of rolling, green pastures is still home to cattle, cowboys and ranches. The Parker Ranch in and around Waimea is the largest privately owned cattle ranch in the US, and the annual Fourth of July rodeo is a major event. But there is more to Waimea than just paniolo. This area is now home to a thriving community. You’ll find one of Hawaii Island’s finest chefs at Merriman’s Restaurant. Peter Merriman is three-time finalist in the prestigious James Beard Awards for Best Chef and is one of the founding members of Hawaii Regional Cuisine. You can also find the Kahilu Theatre here, a 490-seat cultural mecca on Hawaii Island featuring performances by renowned musicians, dancers and artists. The Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival, held annually in the first week of February, has recently become another major event of the town. In the center of town you can find Hawaiian art at the Isaacs Art Center and the Wishard Gallery. Waimea is also home to the headquarters of two astronomical observatories located on Mauna Kea, the W. M. Keck Observatory and the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope. It is also headquarters of the International Lunar Observatory Association To explore the road less traveled, the Kohala Mountain Road (Highway 250) leads north from Waimea to the charming town of Hawi. Most visitors miss this beautiful drive, but it’s a scenic way to get from Waimea to Hawi and the stunning Pololu Valley Lookout, which showcases breathtaking coastal views of the Hamakua Coast.
