Condo was clean and convenient to private beach

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The condo was fairly clean when we got there, just a little dusty. Seems like the last few tenants didn't bother to clean out the lint in the dryer. I removed a good 1.5" of lint before using the dryer. Decor was nice, there was plenty of seating in the livingroom area. There were enough dishes, and pots & pans for us to cook with. We cooked at least 1 meal a day at the condo. The weather was so hot while we were there, I was happy with how well the AC worked. It was convenient for us to drive to the private beach across the street. We walked to the beach in the evening when it wasn't too hot. The beach was really clean and the water was perfectly cool. We loved it so much that we miscalculated our stay. I guess it was wishful thinking that we could stay another day.:) The owner was really nice about the misunderstanding.

Property was very nice, However

After I paid for my condo I was charged a second time for "reservation fees" which were above what was included in my quoted price. Both vrbo billing and the condo management company claimed it was the other entity billing in their name. The room for two nights ended up costing almost double the listed room price. So beware OF HIDDEN COSTS!!!!!!!!!!

Not What We Thought

Where do I start. My wife and I moved to the area and have a dog and cat. We needed a place to stay while going through the home buying process. We found this place through shore dreams vacation rentals and VRBO. When we arrived things from the beginning like the previous reviews is things didnt work like the electrical outlets, the dishwasher, and the toilets. We had to call maintenance almost weekly for the 5 weeks we were there. We had random people at Sandpiper Cove "workers" just walk in our unit while we were there without knocking. There excuse was "we didnt know anybody was staying there". The owners came in and replaced the appliances in the kitchen but left us without a dishwasher for the majority of our stay. Which in my mind replacing appliances while guest are staying there is odd. But ok sure. The worse part of the stay is my credit card was over charged for the unit 2 weeks after being paid for up front and fortunately that was refunded to me and didnt throw any red flags during my mortgage process. That took about 3 weeks to get back and they had to mail me a check. So after my wife and I closed on our house we moved out and 3 weeks later I received another charge on my credit card for for pet cleaning. They said we left pet hair everywhere, which we did not. When we prepaid we paid up front for pet deposit plus cleaning fee and various pet fees. So how it took them 3 weeks after we checked out to charge my card again is beyond me. How do I know somebody else didnt rent the unit after us. I was left a nasty voicemail from somebody for the rental company stating I had dog hair hanging from the ceiling fans. Really? The Ceiling fans? I had to call my bank and freeze my card and start the dispute process. I paid all these fees for pets and cleaning up front and have all the invoices to prove it. The only person who was a good experience out of this was a lady named Barbara. But she works for Shore Dreams out of another state. Needless to say I would not rent this unit for my worse enemy. I could go on for days but the point is I would not bring your family or pets to this place. Because you arent getting what you paid for and you are getting overcharged and scammed. Stay away

Neglected and unsafe !!! The place is in need of serious structural upgrades .

The property is in a great location however the exterior has been so neglected that when my son walked out on the back deck he went to go down the stairs and they collapsed. injuring and hurling him to the bottom into overgrown thicket.The inspector said there is so much wood rot on this building That has been neglected for a long time and now someone is hurt . There are rusty nails exposed all over the exterior of this unit.This incident ended our vacation as a family.

Dirty, things broken & worn out

Let me first start off by saying that by no means did I let this place ruin my vacation, but there were things wrong with the unit that would have upset other people a lot more than me. I want to let you know what you are getting into and what the included pictures don't show you. First off, let me state that we chose this unit because it was pet friendly which eliminates many units at Sandpiper Cove. The typical things you would expect to be clean were in fact clean (beds, linens, toilets, etc...). That said, there were a lot of places that were dirty in the condo. I'll start with the outside of the front door. There were so many spider webs and dead bugs surrounding the door frame, it looked like it had never been cleaned. The blinds over the kitchen sink were covered in black grime - again, probably never cleaned. The glass shelf above the bar had such a thick layer of dust that you could write in it and your finger would have a dust ball on the tip when done. The vertical blinds in the living room were both broken. You couldn't ever totally close them, thus letting anybody that walked by able to see in at any time. I didn't want to fore them closed in fear they would break even more or even fall down. The patio furniture was ALL run down and falling apart. The water hose was rotten. The towel rack in the master bath fell out of the wall the first 5 minutes I was in the condo, fell and cut my toe. There was an electric grill on the patio that I cannot explain the amount of funkiness built up on it. I spent an hour cleaning on it so I could use it, and then it would barely cook a hot dog. We had to wash every dish before using them because there were some that weren't fully clean. The tile floors were also slimey from what seemed too much cleaning solution being used. If you took a shower, you had to put shoes on immediately or else hold on! As I said, I didn't let all of this ruin my vacation, but I will certainly choose a new unit next time. This is the third unit I have rented at Sandpiper Cove and definitely the least liked. We love staying at Sandpiper Cove property, but there were things that would take very little money to fix in this unit to make it much more enjoyable. I just want everybody to be aware of what to expect if you rent this unit. It certainly isn't shown in the pictures.

Great Time!!!

The condo was very clean, except a funny smell in the fridge. We had a blast and the location of SPC is great. The ease of parking at the condo and at the beach was wonderful. Parking is close to the front door. This condo is in a quieter part of SPC and doesn't see a lot of people traffic around, other than the occasional golfers on the Hole 2 green behind the unit and gives a pretty private feel. My only strike is the location relative to the stop light at 98 and Gulf Shore Dr. Traffic can be heard in the mornings and evenings when its busy, but not too bad. Most would probably not notice, I just have sensitive hearing.

We caught crabs on the beach at night and had a blast at all of the amusement parks. It is walking distance to the Big Kahuna's water park and the beach. We left all of our chairs and umbrellas at the beach next to the resort boxes and just walked with a pull cart to the beach.

You must go to the Crab Trap on Old Hwy 98. Can't even explain how cool the place is and how great the food was. We will return to the SPC and if this place is available we might give it another booking if there is nothing else this cheap away from the intersection. Great experience.
