This large 1400 square-foot, two-bedroom, beautifully furnished condo has spectacular ocean views from the front lanai, living room and kitchen. This one level, third floor unit has outstanding ocean and mountain views, and is a 3-minute walk to one of the top beaches in the world, Poipu Beach.

What makes Nihi Kai Unit 422 a destination you will not forget? The condo is 100 yards from the water and overlooks one of the best turtle viewing spots on the island. The condo is located close to the complex's amentities and the beach. The interior has been tastefully decorated and has enough space for a large group. The living room has new furniture. The kitchen and bathrooms were recently remodeled to include a glass tile shower, new cabinets, granite kitchen counters, and more. The master bedroom has a queen-size mattress and private bathroom. The second bedroom has two full size beds (sleeps up to 4) and a private bathroom. A den, separated from the living area by 8-foot privacy walls, contains a full size sleeper sofa. The unit contains wireless internet, high definition cable 55 inch TV, and an I-Pod docking station. The inside has high ceilings and an open floor plan along with a well stocked kitchen. Cooling is provided through ceiling fans located throughout the unit (no air conditioning). The grounds are well maintained tropical gardens.

The property has a swimming pool overlooking the ocean, children's pool, barbeque grills, and tennis courts. Nihi Kai is located in sunny Poipu nestled among the south shore resorts and hotels with a quiet location and plenty of parking. Poipu is known for sunny skies, shopping, great resturants, and little traffic.

Wonderfull home away from home

My wife, two daughters (11 and 13) and I had a fantastic stay at Nihi Kai 422 for 6 nights. The apartment was spacious, comfortable and very well cared for.

We cook a lot and prefer to do so while on vacation, and the kitchen was very well stocked. There was plenty of linens and towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner and household supplies.

While not written in the description for the property (so milage may vary), the apartment was well equipment with a couple beach chairs, boogie boards, a small cooler, tennis balls and rackets, which all came in handy.

The living room furniture was comfortable and well laid out, and the dining room table was nice to sit around as a family. There were plenty of books and games if you want to laze around.

I spent a lot of time on the lanai reading, eating breakfast and having a glass of wine in the afternoon, watching the ocean. The pool was great, especially for my youngest and was right out the door, down the steps around the corner with a nice view of the ocean.

This is our third time traveling to Kauai as a family and this is a great spot in Poipu if planing on staying on this part of the Island.

The best swimming beaches are a 5 minute walk, one of the best boogie boarding spots is right at the corner.

If you like long walks the other direction is great for walking up and along the bluffs towards the Hilton and then beyond.

A few things to take note and mentioned in other reviews.

The apartment is on the third floor and there are a lot of steps to the front door so if anyone has bad knees or a disability which makes climbing steps difficult, be aware.

The apartment is next to a side road that gets some traffic so there can be some vehicle noice but the entrance, entrance way closet, kitchen and dining room are on the road side and the living spaces are in the interior away from the street. My wife and I heavily lean towards wanting quite and secluded places to stay and didn't find what street noice there was to be an issue, especially being on the third floor.

The apartment is not air conditioned but is very open and airy with high ceilings, ceiling fans, and great third floor cross breezes through the sliding screen doors to the lanai facing the ocean. There are also extra fans we noticed stored in the closets if needed in hot weather.

We all really enjoyed staying here and were very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again as one of my first choices, in a heart beat ;-)

This is a very well maintained property.

This is an amazing unit. It is really clean and decorated very tastefully.

The kitchen is very well supplied with dishes and cooking utensils. The views from the lanais were so enjoyable especially the sunsets. Being so so close to the beach made it possible to enjoy many morning and evening walks. This location is great for seeing all of the

island's many wonderful attractions. The owner was great to work with and would go back in a heartbeat.

Great location and ocean views!

We thoroughly enjoyed a week at this property - a home away from home with a great location and ocean views. Lovely Hawaiian decor with comfortable furnishings and a well appointed kitchen. Walking distance to great beaches including Brennecke and Poipu. The unit is close to the pool, which was convenient with the little ones. The owners were also a pleasure to deal with. A wonderful trip!

Wonderful 32 nights!

Nihi Kai Villas 422 is a great choice for Kauai and specifically, for the Southshore Poipu area. Very well maintained, the unit provides you with a great view of the ocean and Turtle Cove. It's a very short walk to Poipu Beach Park with it's keiki beach and lifeguard tower and also to Brenneckes, renowned for boogie boarding and body surfing. Well appointed, this corner unit takes advantage of the Kauai trade winds which provide a natural air conditioner! Several ceiling fans help keep the air moving too. While there are only two bedrooms, there is room to sleep six if you take advantage of the semi private study/sitting room located just off the living room. The kitchen is well stocked and the owners have provided many spices and condiments for their guests. Very good wireless internet too! There is a large TV in the LR was well a small TV in the MBR. There are two lanais, one very large one for watching whales in season as well a smaller one of the 2nd BR which always seems to catch those lovely trades. We used to live in Poipu. Please know that this condo is a excellent choice for couples and families, at a more modest price that other options. Only one caveat: there are some challenging stairs to get to NKV 422's 3rd level entrance, so if that's a concern, this unit might not be a wise choice.

It doesn't get any better for the money!

My wife and I just got back from Kauai to celebrate her 60th birthday. We have rented a number of places on previous trips to the 'Garden Isle,' and must say the accommodations at #422 Nihi Kahi were fabulous. If you only want to stay in one place while in Kauai, this central location is great. The condo is open, spacious, modern but with a Hawaiian flair. With a dynamite view from the lanai, and a short 100 yard walk to the beach, it just doesn't get any better for the money. The kitchen is compact but superbly stocked with supplies, including the first batch of quality knives I've ever found in a rental, that are actually sharp. Both bedrooms are large, and the bed in the master bedroom is comfy. What topped everything off were the cool breezes blowing through the condo along with the sound of the ocean waves at night, lulling us to sleep. We absolutely will stay at this place again on our next trip back to Kauai.

Excellent Location!

My 3 adult children and I spent an amazing week here. The location was perfect! We could walk to the beach, and the deli/store, and the drive to shops and restaurants was 5 minutes! We spent most evenings enjoying the sunset from the Lanai. Plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen is very well furnished. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars (and If I could give 4.5 I would) is that the sofa bed was not adequate to sleep on for an adult due to the foam mattress being thin. But, if you don't need to sleep on it, the place is awesome!! Very cozy and comfortable. The rocky beach directly in front of the hotel was a resting spot for turtles. At one time we were watching over 6 of them from the shore playing in the waves! Snorkeling Poipu was place however is at Koloa Landing. No beach to sit on but by far the best for coral, fish and turtles!! It is 3 minutes down the road. We will definitely be back!

We have been trying to replace this mattress and found it challenging to have a new one shipped to the islands. The new mattress for the sleeper sofa in the study was on order, but unfortunately did not arrive before your stay. It has now been replaced.
