Located high above Twin Lakes, our river rock and log-style Mountain House overlooks several of Colorado's 14'ers, including Mt. Elbert (the highest peak), Parry Peak and Mount Hope. A short walk up the hill behind us reveals Mount Massive. Our property is adjacent to two empty lots including national forest service land, giving the illusion of being the only house on the mountain. The house sleeps a maximum of 12, in beds. The upper floor offers a master bedroom with a king-sized bed and walk-in closet, a bedroom with bunk beds, a full bath, laundry room and loft area overlooking the lake/mountain view. The main floor includes two bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and one with a trundle, a full bath, kitchen and living room with floor-to-ceiling windows and a wood-burning fireplace. While we've elected to use the house as a getaway with no WI-FI, there is an entertainment center which includes a TV (no reception), movies, DVD, VCR, CD player and iPod docking station which can be moved around the house. The walk-out basement boasts a finished game room with foosball, ping pong, air hockey, bubble hockey, and pop-a-shot basketball. The bedroom on this floor contains two queen-sized beds and a carpeted floor. Full bath included as well as a utility room with a full-sized refrigerator/freezer.

About Carrie Skluzak
Dell's Father dreamed of having a vacation home where the whole family could gather. He didn't get to realize that dream so Dell did it for him. This home has been a great gathering place for family holidays and friendship getaways. We hope you enjoy it too!
Carrie Skluzak purchased this House in 2005
Why Carrie Skluzak chose Twin Lakes
We wanted to be in the mountains but so much mountain property just looks at trees. When we found this lot, with THIS VIEW, we knew we could look at it forever.
scenic and relaxing
The house was beautiful and the view off the front porch was simply amazing
property is as listed on vrbo
all went well, nice view, cabin great, all is good, thank you
Great views. Plenty of space. Amazing game room!
Only downfall was that you had to pay $7 for access to the lake.
Great property with fantastic view!
Property was perfect for our family's getaway. Will definitely return!
Perfect for our Leadership Retreat!
We rented this house for our organization's Annual Leadership Retreat. The great room that is attached to the kitchen was perfect for doing group work. The surroundings, with breathtaking views and refreshing hikes, provided the most perfect setting to plan out our dreams. The multiple floors with bedrooms on each level provided enough space for our group of 10 to sleep comfortably. I highly recommend this house and hope we can come back again.
Delightful Location for Family Gathering with a Spectacular View
We selected this property for our 7-day family gathering (i.e for grown kids & grandkids) to gather from locations around the nation. It proved a delightful setting with a truly spectacular view of the Twin Lakes and surrounding mountains. The location provided easy access to fishing, hiking and mountain climbing, as well as opportunities to explore Leadville. The accommodations were very nice. Good sleeping options for each family. The recreation room with numerous games was a real plus for extra entertainment. The great room with large windows and access to the porch were fantastic for the whole family to gather and enjoy each other and the amazing views of the mountains. The kitchen worked well for providing meals for the family, though we have had other more fully equipped kitchens at other locations. We also were surprised there weren't more sheets and dishtowels available. (Maybe these were being laundered?) These would be the only two dimensions that we expected a little more. There were very good parking options, which was important, as we had multiple families coming in from different directions. For those who arrived after dark, it was a little difficult to find, but we had cell coverage (i.e., AT&T) and were able to talk them in. But arriving in daylight is helpful, especially since the street address is not the same as the road which takes you to the house. Overall, we were quite pleased with our experience and would recommend this property to our friends.
Ski Cooper is the closest resort - about 40 minutes away, north of Leadville. 4WD or AWD vehicle highly recommended - all seasons.
