Twin Lakes House Rental Photos and Description

Located high above Twin Lakes, our river rock and log-style Mountain House overlooks several of Colorado's 14'ers, including Mt. Elbert (the highest peak), Parry Peak and Mount Hope. A short walk up the hill behind us reveals Mount Massive. Our property is adjacent to two empty lots including national forest service land, giving the illusion of being the only house on the mountain. The house sleeps a maximum of 12, in beds. The upper floor offers a master bedroom with a king-sized bed and walk-in closet, a bedroom with bunk beds, a full bath, laundry room and loft area overlooking the lake/mountain view. The main floor includes two bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and one with a trundle, a full bath, kitchen and living room with floor-to-ceiling windows and a wood-burning fireplace. While we've elected to use the house as a getaway with no WI-FI, there is an entertainment center which includes a TV (no reception), movies, DVD, VCR, CD player and iPod docking station which can be moved around the house. The walk-out basement boasts a finished game room with foosball, ping pong, air hockey, bubble hockey, and pop-a-shot basketball. The bedroom on this floor contains two queen-sized beds and a carpeted floor. Full bath included as well as a utility room with a full-sized refrigerator/freezer.

About Carrie Skluzak

Dell's Father dreamed of having a vacation home where the whole family could gather. He didn't get to realize that dream so Dell did it for him. This home has been a great gathering place for family holidays and friendship getaways. We hope you enjoy it too!

Carrie Skluzak purchased this house in 2005

Why Carrie Skluzak chose South Central

We wanted to be in the mountains but so much mountain property just looks at trees. When we found this lot, with THIS VIEW, we knew we could look at it forever.

Spectacular Veiws

  • 5 of 5

What a great place located in the heart of the Rockies. Beautiful home with lots of room, owners were great. We were out in the Arkansas Valley for a project for 10 days. Wish we had more time for fishing, 4 wheeling and junking around. 10 minutes to Leadville, short drive over Independence pass to Aspen when the pass is open. If you love the west and mountains, this is the location, surrounded by at least four 14,000' + peaks including the 2 highest in the State. Would certainly come back in the summer for white water rafting.

Unbeatable View

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 6 adult skiers could not have been happier with this beautiful house. Less than 30 minutes to Ski Cooper and 20 minutes to Leadville, this was a convenient place with a view you won't get from any home in Leadville. The living/dining area was great for dinner and game nights and the game room was a fun bonus. Carrie was responsive and great to work with. If you're coming during the winter, be sure to have 4WD or, at a minimum, AWD. The roads are pretty primitive. Hope to come back and stay in the summer to take advantage of the lake. Thanks, Carrie!

Fantastic House with Unbelievable Views!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great house with incredible views of the Twin Lakes and some of the best mountains in Colorado. This rental is especially well priced for the the amount of space and the amenities! There was more than enough space for our family of five (would have been plenty of room for five to seven more guests). Another important point: our phone reception was perfect so WiFi access was unnecessary, after all. Thanks again Carrie!

Wonderful Cabin, Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

This home is wonderful in every way. We used this place as a home base for a group of 5 MTBers and their wives that headed out from California to participate in the Leadville 100 Trail MTB Race. The location was perfect and you cannot beat this view!! Thank you Carrie for answering all of my questions and being so helpful. I highly recommend this place!!

Awesome views

  • 5 of 5

Location, location, location! This home was situated nearly at the top of the ridge overlooking Twin Lakes valley. We had a panoramic view of the lakes, the mountains across and the valleys on each end. We never tired of the view. We spotted a herd of elk using the telescope provided. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck when the sun was out and still enjoyed the views when the cool wind picked up or on rainy days. Our boys enjoyed the game room downstairs, though a couple of the games were not in working order. We enjoyed the privacy of the master in the loft. Having washer/dryer on the same floor was handy. We loved the open main floor plan. Kitchen utensils and cookware are plentiful. Just remember to bring your coffee, tea, sugar, and condiments. We enjoyed playing card games at the bar height table in full view of the lake. Directions, access and amenities were well provided. The drive out from Colo Springs was beautiful. We made a quick stop at the Cliff Dwellings at Manitou Springs. We also enjoyed the drive South through Salida on our drive home. Knowing we wouldn't have satellite TV, we came prepared with movies when we tired of reading and relaxing. Our phones had reception. This may not seem important but, to us, having garbage disposal close at hand was essential. The POA has a neighborhood garbage disposal area and that was easily accessible. The owner was easy to communicate with and we felt well taken care of. The home is located within short driving distance of Leadville for those interested in taking a 30 minute drive. Brochures and pamphlets about local trails, historical places and local activities were provided and were very helpful. Though we didn't use it, there was a canoe and fishing equipment provided. We ventured into the town of Twin Lakes and enjoyed stopping at the Visitor's Center and the Shooting Star Gallery that housed a variety of wares from local artists- well worth the stop. This is our second VBRO and we couldn't be more pleased with the process. If you are looking for a place to relax and recharge, this is the place.
