About Marilyn Taylor

We are Louisiana natives now retired. Renting cabins in Colorado since 1993. This is Randy's 5th and last cabin to build in Monarch. The 5th is the best cabin he has built! Crazy about our children and grandchildren. Enjoying life!

Marilyn Taylor purchased this house in 2013

Why Marilyn Taylor chose Salida

We have built cabins in Colorado for the love of the mountains and the fun of skiing and hunting right out our backdoor. We made many happy memories with our children over the years in Monarch and now want our children to make many happy memories for their children. Randy built this spacious home for them to enjoy what we have enjoyed in the Colorado Rocky Mountains since 1993. We dedicate this home to our grandchildren Blase, Bella, George Taylor and Lawson Cole. We are going to make precious memories with them in the mountains to last a lifetime.

What makes this house unique

It is beautiful, spacious, comfortable, majestic views, and the river provides serenity. A great get away for those seeking tranquility.

Awesome house!

  • 5 of 5

We had three families that shared this cabin, and it was perfect! There was plenty of room for everyone. The kids loved exploring outdoors. We were only about 5 minutes from the ski resort, and only about 15 minutes from Salida. The kitchen is fully stocked, there are plenty of blankets, there were even extra boots. We will definitely be staying here again!!

Had a great weekend at a great home if want to ski Monarch and enjoy the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. Wonderful setting. Good access. Great home for a family gathering. Large kitchen & eating area for a family gathering area. 4 very nice bedrooms and an additional sleeping area with 2 more queen beds. Would highly recommend for family gathering in this great location.

Beautiful, clean and spacious

  • 5 of 5

I am so happy this is the house we picked to stay at for our winter vacation. It was absolutely beautiful and perfect for our little family. We all had our own room which was very important to my husband and I. The pillows and beds were super comfy which is key to a successful vacation. I LOVED the fact that they had EVERY little gadget that you would need to make your vacation perfect. The road leading up to the house was a perfect little hill to ride our sleds on which the kids loved and we loved since we didn't have to drive anywhere to take them to go sledding. It was super close to Monarch mountain which made it really nice in the mornings to not have to rush to get to the mountain to ski. We could take our time and sleep in. :) The living room was so spacious and the couches were very comfy. I hate to even admit this but the only 'downside' was the wifi. :( You basically had to sit right next to the modem to even get a signal and when you had a signal it would take forever to just check our email. I knew before even booking the trip that our cell service would not work but i was banking on the fact that we could still use the wifi to stay connected to the world ;-) We definitely can't wait to plan our trip to this house again for next year :)

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed our home and want to return to our home! One of the down sides in the mountains are poor or no cell phone service and slower satellite wifi signals at 9,500 feet altitude in a forest setting. Hope you return soon!

Beautiful vacation home in beautiful Monarch Colorado.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Marilyn's vacation home. It was a beautiful home with plenty of room to have our own space. we enjoyed spending Christmas up there. The sledding and skiing were wonderful and it just so happened we got plenty of snow. (: The home was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. We cooked a HUGE Christmas dinner for all 10 of us and found everything we needed to do that. It was so nice not to have to take all the extra specialty pans and pots....they were all there. Loved gathering around the large dinning room table to eat, play games and crafts with the kids. Thank you so much for making that available to us. We hope to be back sometime in the near future.

Beautiful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here. It is beautiful, spacious, and inviting. There is no shortage of beds in the house. The living room is large enough space to accommodate several people at once. The furnishings are well kept and clean. Our favorite place to hang out was the back patio. You can see and hear the creek below and see beautiful views from here.

Monarch Ski and Snowboard Area
Car: necessary

Ski Monarch is the best kept secret in Colorado! Monarch Mountain is one of Colorado's best ski areas; cheap lift tickets, powder snow, family ski packages, learn to ski programs Monarch has it all. Steep terrain, black diamond runs, tree skiing, fresh powder snow and Snowcat skiing attract expert and advanced skiers. Family skiers are drawn to Monarch Mountain for ski deals, fun ski lessons and ski and snowboard rentals. Monarch Mountain has more of an old time ski area feeling than that of a modern ski resort.

Whitewater Rafting on the famous Arkansas River is a thrill! Colorado is the land of sinfully good white water and the Arkansas is the best of the best when it comes to rafting and kayaking. Flowing 150 miles from the old mining town of Climax in Lake County east through Colorado, the Arkansas provides some of the most awesome whitewater experiences in the country.
