Family beach bungalow close to Pleasure Point beaches

Bedrooms 2
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

Our Pleasure Point beach house is conveniently located halfway between the famous Santa Cruz boardwalk and the quaint village of Capitola. We are located three blocks from the ocean cliffs, with access to some of the best surfing and more private beaches in Santa Cruz. We are also a short walk to the cafes, restaurants, and surf shops on 41st Ave. Relax in our sunny and very private backyard. Enjoy the Adirondack chairs, outdoor shower, outdoor gas grill, dining on the patio, and soaking in the 5-person hot tub.

We extensively refurbished our beach house inside and out, while keeping its original bungalow charm. We have updated to top of the line appliances (LG fridge, front loader washer/dryer), installed an indoor/outdoor Bose stereo system, and we have high speed internet and cable TV. There is room for 6 people to sleep on beds, and in addition, we have a portable crib, and an aero bed. Our home is super family and kid friendly, and equipped with a lot of what you would want for a family vacation at the beach such as cruiser bikes, a red flyer wagon, boogie board, hot tub toys, and beach chairs/umbrella.

Pleasure Point is our favorite place on the California Central Coast to enjoy the beach and the beautiful surrounding areas, from redwood forests to wine country. We look forward to sharing our beach house with you!

About Carol

I purchased this house in 2003 because I loved coming down to Santa Cruz on the weekends to surf and hang out with friends. Now as a Dad, I come down with my kids for family BBQs and the beach. I refurbished the house extensively while keeping the craftsman-style charm. I grew up going the the beach in Southern California, then went to UC Berkeley undergrad, and lived in New York and Paris, before returning to the Bay Area to pursue my career in technology. I live in Burlingame with my kids Jackson and Lily.

Carol purchased this house in 2003

Why Carol chose Central Coast

Our house is close to some of the best beaches for surfing, fishing, jogging, and playing with kids and dogs. We are also a short walk to the fun shops and restaurants on 41st Ave, and a short bike ride to Capitola Village, where we like to go for dinner.

Pleasure Point has a unique micro climate that has more sun, and less wind, than Aptos and the town of Santa Cruz. 35th Ave is not a through street and so we have very little car traffic.

What makes this house unique

Our house is exceptionally private and quiet. Our backyard has 8' fences, a 12' ivy, and a jasmin trellis that block neighbors views and noise. Both the front a backyards are fenced in for safety and there is parking in the driveway for two cars.

We enjoying dining on outdoor patio, while listening to music on the indoor/outdoor sound system, and cooking on the gas grill. Our friends love the 5-seat hot tub (36 jets!) and large outdoor shower.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Visited with my girlfriend and absolutely loved the stay. We are both surfers, so we just loved using the House Bikes to ride to check the surf, take our boards to the surf and go a few blocks over for coffee and breakfast. Wonderful. And after a chilly long surf - little was better than a jacuzzi followed by outdoor shower. It's just a real homey comfortable house, not at all ostentatious but private and low key - just how you want it to be in Santa Cruz. Well maintained and clean - we would do this again in an instant - but invite friends next time to enjoy it with us- the outdoor bbq and deck were fantastic for lounging.

Fun Summer Adventures

The location of the beach house is ideal. I feel this is the number one draw to this property. The backyard is very private, I loved the swing surrounded by the wonderful smelling Jasmine. It was my favorite spot for morning coffee. There were a couple of glitches which we solved readily. The host was prompt in responding to my texts regarding these issues. The outdoor shower is great, I suggest this one over the shower inside. The hot tub was enjoyed by all, especially when all the kids were gone and there was only me! Wine & music under the stars was a perfect end to my day. If you've guests, parking on the street can be difficult as many park down this street as it is so close to the beach & surfing area. There is no dining area inside however there is a large table & chairs outside on the patio. We had our meals there. There were 3 adults and 3 teens. It is a cozy place and because we were gone throughout the day & using the backyard in the evening, we managed the small living area. The beach house is well kept up and clean. The neighborhood is generally quiet. I have to say, I'd love to be sitting on the swing, smelling the Jasmine as I type this review.

Wonderful stay in the most homely atmosphere

  • 5 of 5

I along with my family of 6 folks and dog visited this place and stayed here. The location is perfect right in the middle of Santa Cruz (SC), steps away from beach and a no noise neighborhood. Amazing to see the place well maintained with really good standard linen, furniture along with kitchen usable & appliances. The jacuzzi was a hit for my family. TV is great along with the music system.

Fridge has the basic necessities if you arrive late and the backdoor of this place is very cute and beachy. Parking is ampful and well maintained. bathroom is great with instructions on how to access any items/operate.

Owners are great and very friendly.

Just open the windows when you arrive and let the calmness & freshness of Santa Cruz come in!!!

Will surely be back:)

Lovely, Comfortable, Homey

  • 4 of 5

My family, as well as my husband's brother and his family, had a great vacation in Santa Cruz. We all stayed in Carol's beach bungalow. It was a little tight for all of us (4 adults and 7 kids), but we knew that going in to it. (The older kids camped out in the living room, and parents got the bedrooms, which we shared with our youngest kiddos.) It all worked out, but having 1 bathroom was tricky at times. The outside shower REALLY helped out and is very nice! Rinsing the kids off outside in nice warm/hot water after playing at the beach made clean up easy! The whole place is just beautiful- like the video shows. It's also a great place for kids. Our kids loved playing in both the front and back yards! It's fenced, so I felt okay having them running all around. There are baby beds (2), and booster seats, some plastic dishes, sand toys, step stool in the bathroom, and wagon. Walking to the beach does not take very long (maybe 3 minutes?), but you do have to familiarize yourself with the tide. If you walk to the beach at high tide- there is no sand, no beach to play at. There is a really nice walkway along the road at the top of the cliff though (there's also a fence- totally safe). We enjoyed some walks along the top because of the high tide. We also did a longer walk to a sandy beach, which took about 15 minutes with 7 little kids. Totally do-able! Our kids all had a blast! The home is very welcoming, which makes it comfortable. The couches and beds are also comfortable as well. Honestly, I loved this home and would definitely look forward to staying here in the future!
