About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Are water sports your thing? Come stay on beautiful Lake Summit. It's THE place to get wet! Enjoy everything from motorboat sports to first class fishing or just getting a tan. For anglers, it's home to dozens of species of fish. The Green River runs right throught it so you can take your chanoe up river all the way to the head waters for great trout fishing. It's only 30 mintues from the best trout streams around, the Mills, Davidson and Green Rivers. (You will need a NC resident or nonresident fishing license if you don’t have one.) It's small enough to be private and large enough to have fun with a motor boat. You can bring your boat with a registration fee of $50. We have a boathouse and brand new dock to make your stay even better... perfect for tanning, eating lunch on the picnic table or just reading a book. For the athletes, it is a great place to take a long run or bike ride around the long, winding perimeter road…it’s about 9 miles around the lake.

The house has two bedrooms with a queen bed in each and 1½ baths (the half bath/laundry room is accessible from a boardwalk that wraps around the exterior of the house so you don’t have to go through the house wet), wood floors, tall ceilings, large kitchen, comfortable beds, great linens, a double sized sofa bed for kids in the living room and a large covered front porch with a view of the lake. No TV, but who needs it when you have all that water to play in, right?

We have repeat guests that have stayed with us for years and we’d love for you to come for your own stay. We also host families whose children attend one of the three summer camps on the lake. It’s really a wonderful spot.

Call or write with questions and book your stay today.

Peaceful mountain lake getaway.

  • 5 of 5

I booked as a surprise for my wife as an anniversary present. She said my choice was perfect and that says it all (thank goodness). Activities included kayak fishing, lakeside reading, biking around the lake, scenic drive into Saluda for lunch at the Purple Onion, mornings drinking coffee on the front porch, and wishing we could stay longer. Accommodations just as described and property management was so nice and helpful with lake information. Maybe my wife will book it next year for me (I sure hope so).Great find!

Owner's Response: So glad you loved Lake Summit as much as we do. It's a wonderful place to start a family tradition...we're still hosting a married couple who spent their honeymoon at the house 30 years ago! We look forward to having you anytime you want to enjoy the lake again...thanks so much for your kind words!

Wonderful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in this wonderfully charming home. The location is amazing, access to the lake via the boathouse was what made our trip. Normally we use a VRBO as a jumping off point to see an area. This time we never left beyond a trip to the Ingles grocery store. The house and location had it all!

Lovely location

  • 4 of 5

I cannot say we loved the cottage .We found it dark and relatively clean. Those 2 observations could be easily fixed by owner. Remove quilts covering both bedroom windows , replace with light curtains and let in some natural light.Move dresser that covers the only window in the back bedroom.

While very clean in open spaces, clumps of dust behind beds that need to be attended to!

We are owners of a VRBO ourselves so we offer this as constructive crticism.Oterwise, we had a great time.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments...each of the two bedrooms have two windows and the quilts covering one out of the two windows in each bedroom are on the same side of the house because the neighbor recently put up a security light that blasts light into both bedrooms and was keeping our guests up all night so we wanted to block that light to provide more comfort for our guests. Each bedroom has another window and I guess I was assuming that being on a lake meant not spending much of the daytime in the bedrooms and more of that outside. Sorry about the dust bunnies behind the beds...I don't usually inspect behind beds when I rent houses but I'll make sure those bunnies get dusted. This historic cottage has been a haven for hundreds of families, lots of which return to enjoy the Summit View, some on an annual basis. I'm so glad you came to enjoy the lake and hope you can return, even if it's in another rental. Thanks.

Peaceful Setting

  • 5 of 5

Adorable cabin, clean, well-equipped, comfortable. The front porch was our favorite spot to relax, with a beautiful view of the lake. The pier and boathouse were also great hangout spots and made lake access super easy. Beautiful get-away setting with good restaurants and grocery stores nearby.

Excellent pet-friendly vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for four nights in August 2014. The manager was wonderful and responsive- she rescued us immediately when we managed to lock ourselves out (it's an old tricky lock on the door)! The cottage is lovely and clean, with a large kitchen and a great porch for enjoying the sunsets. The dock is fabulous, and there's even a little beach area for easy entrance/exit of the water. We enjoyed lots of swimming, lounging, and canoeing- and the cottage is a perfect distance from Saluda for whenever we got hungry (and very close to Green River Barbecue- YUM!).

One definite perk is that this property is pet-friendly- we have two medium-sized dogs that we were able to bring with us to enjoy the lake!

We absolutely loved it and will definitely be staying here again!

Great, historic lake house!

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful, little lake house! It is an historic house, and it has TRUE historic charm! It brought back fond memories of my childhood vacations at the lake...right down to the slamming screen door! Great front porch, fabulous dock, lots of fun in the sand and water, and wonderful canoeing! We definitely want to return!
