Gingerbread 3BR 2.5BA, Sleeps 7
Experience the vintage charm of Pacific Grove while enjoying all the comfort and conveniences of the 21st century in this beautiful two-story, Victorian-style home built in 2002.
Relax on the deck off the master bedroom, or outside on one of two front porches: you can really spread out in this comfortable home with hardwood floors, a fireplace, and a unique "sun tower" at the top of the stairs. This den/office area, with a wet bar and under-counter refrigerator, is everyone's favorite place to read, chat, or just enjoy the view overlooking this charming neighborhood.
Cherry wood cabinets and a lovely tin ceiling add warmth and charm to the well-equipped kitchen, and the open floor plan can be "zoned" by doors separating the kitchen from the dining area and the living room from the entry way. An instant gas log fireplace in the living room adds ambiance while you enjoy a good book or a movie on cable TV/DVD (available in both the downstairs living room and the upstairs bedrooms).
All three bedrooms are carpeted and located on the second floor (14 steps up to the bedrooms). The master bedroom, decorated in soft tones of rose and green, has a queen-size bed and a private bath with a stall shower. A second guestroom has a queen-size bed; the third has two twins. The guest bath features a shower over tub, and there's another half bath downstairs.
The location makes this Victorian-style home one of our most popular accommodations in Pacific Grove. Upon arrival, you may just want to park your car in the spacious two-car garage and forget about it! Just a block from downtown, you are within easy walking distance of Pacific Grove’s quaint shops, restaurants, the Farmer's Market, and the scenic coastline recreation trail.
If you feel energetic, walk along the coastal trail to the world renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium, exactly one mile from the front door. Along the way, observe marine life - sea lions, seals, otters, and shorebirds. Also within easy walking distance: a grocery store, bakeries, library, post office, ice cream parlor, coffee shops, visitor's center, museum, movie theater, bookstore, parks, playground, and boutiques. (If you prefer, there is bus service just a block away that will take you to the Aquarium and Cannery Row, downtown Monterey and Asilomar Beach.)
If you are a golf enthusiast, bring your clubs! The Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course is just a half mile away, and a short drive will take you to the world-famous links at Pebble Beach. Don’t miss the boutiques and galleries of Carmel, and on a sunny day, take Highway 1 down the coast to Big Sur. (Mmmm, lunch at Nepenthe – an Ambrosia Burger and a basket of their famous fries!)

A lovely house in a beautiful setting
The house was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed. The street was quiet and the location perfect for restaurants, Monterey and Carmel. The windows were a challenge - some did not work. But that was the only negative. Excellent kitchen, nice porch (could use some more furniture on it) and great customer service. We would not only recommend to our friends, but return.
Great house, great location
We had a wonderful 10 days at the Gingerbread house with kids and grandkids. Lots of rooms for sleeping and playing. Having 3 bathrooms was great, as was the spacious, well equipped kitchen. We spent part of each day at the close by park as well as daily walks along the beach. We liked being close to restaurants and the movie theatre. We all enjoyed multiple trips to the aquarium. We loved everything!
Wonderful house, great location
We had a great 10 days at the Gingerbread house with kids and grandkids. Lots of sleeping areas and bathrooms. Kitchen was well equipped. We walked on the beach each day and made many trips to the close by park. Restaurants and movie theatre were close by. We all enjoyed multiple trips to the Aquarium. I would highly recommended this house to everyone.
Beautiful Neo- Victorian house- even nicer than photos showed. Beautifully furnished, well- equipped comfortable, great floor plan, and in great location- 2 blocks to beach, and easy walk to Pacific Grove restaurants & shopping- which we enjoyed. Nice having a place for car-
too, as not all houses in central Pacific Grove have garages or driveways. Would definitely stay here again.
Amazing early 1900's home in the beautiful quaint town of Pacific Grove, CA.
Home has been greatly kept up with modern appliances, furnishings, excellent stocked kitchen and kept in the early 1900 motif.
Suggest: Room Darkening Blinds...a MUST! Master bedroom has old double hard bed and needs upgrading to at least a queen with better quality mattress. Both shower heads need replacing and both need safety handles in bath/shower for seniors. Toilet in hall needs plumbing work. Living Room couch is way too old, limited space for 4 adults and very uncomfortable. I would have been thrilled to pay more per day to have a MUCH BETTER TV CHANNEL capability, shows were extremely limited. Hard Oak dining room chairs MUST have seat pads they are extremely uncomfortable without them.
Plywood shelf in garage at base of stairs is extremely dangerous, we ran into the point of the shelf a few times and cut our selves, this needs to be cut and rounded and perhaps adding a padding to the edge.
Other than these issues, we had an AMAZING AND FABULOUS stay at this lovely Gingerbread Home. A very spacious home in a fabulous location. We enjoyed so many great near by restaurants within walking distance, walks on the ocean walking paths, easy access to Monterey, Cannery Row, 17 Mile Drive, Carmel. All booking documentation/contracts/communication were in impeccable clear order. My family of 4 adults had an amazing and very memorable stay. We HIGHLY recommend this lovely VRBO home.
Our family of four adults and three teens spent four nights at the Gingerbread house. The place was fabulous! The location was perfect for traveling south to Carmel, Monterey county wineries and points south of San Francisco. Everything about the house was exactly as advertised on Homeaway. Would definitely recommend this place with 5 stars!
Pacific Grove is a charming seaside town that's minutes from all the amenities of the Monterey Peninsula: the Aquarium, Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf, Carmel, Big Sur and Pebble Beach.
