North Shore Tiny Log Cabin Retreat

This adorable and authentic tiny log cabin, hand built from timber from the surrounding land has been a family retreat for generations. This rustic cabin is 450 sqft of coziness, with a full kitchen, gas stove, iron clawfoot tub, and beautiful views.
Half a mile up the ridge line from the shores of Superior, minutes from dozens of North Shore attractions, make this Cabin your home base for an amazing North Shore Adventure.

This cozy family getaway includes 1 Bedroom, with a custom queen bed built into the double window with nighttime star views, a twin-sized bed loft, the perfect escape for the kiddo.
There is also a couch and a window bench in the living room that can sleep two more people in a pinch.
The bathroom includes a beautiful iron clawfoot tub and an instant unlimited hot water heater for your all-night bath pleasure.
The full kitchen includes a four-burner stainless steel gas stove, stainless fridge, and a folding dining table that can seat as many as 6! You also have access to a 4 burner propane grill outside.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend getaway to do some hiking and were very happy with the accommodations. The cabin is so well designed, with a very thoughtful layout and lots of handy tech. Super comfortable for 2 people and 2 dogs. They’re doing some renovations on the property that look very interesting and would be exciting to try out in the future. Recommend!

Perfect spot

Beautiful place and beautiful area. Would recommend to friends and family. There’s plenty to do in the surrounding area and we loved the Schroeder baking company. Great food, coffee, shakes.

Home away from home!

All the amenities of home. Super cute tiny cabin. Bed was comfy, everything clean, claw foot tub and shower was great. Great location to venture out and checkout so many parks, beaches and waterfalls.

Another Great Stay

This is our second time staying at this cabin and once again it met our expectations. Communication with the owners was thorough and response times were very quick. The cabin is charming and we love that it's very private (can't see any other houses or buildings on neighboring properties). We woud be happy to visit again for a third time.

A real gem on the North Shore

Great location on the North Shore. It is a very cool old cabin with all the modern amenities. The cabin is not huge but the space is very well utilized. it's also very well equipped with everything you might need

Wonderful cabin and fabulous location!

We loved our stay at the tiny cabin. It's not big, but it had everything we needed and was very comfortable. It was great to explore the north shore all day and then come back to the cozy cabin, quiet and private. The firepit and outdoor area are great, too. We'll be back!

Great Cabin!

Our 5 day stay was was everything we could have wanted. My wife and our lab enjoyed the cabin and the area surrounding, it is located perfectly in between great hiking, swimming and breweries. The cabin itself is very small but the perfect size for what we needed. We will be back for sure!

We needed a quiet weekend away before some heavy work weeks ahead. This was a perfect setting. Close to many parks/ trails. All the creature comforts. Nice little home away from home!

Time Away to Refresh

We had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay at this little cabin. We saw some wonderful sunrises from the picture window, watched grouse and deer eat the crab apples and enjoyed some mighty fine cooking in the fully furnished kitchen. This is a place we will definitely want to return to in the future.

If you like the small cabin feel in the woods, this is for you!

This is the perfect little cabin stay in the woods! We came up to get away and get in some grouse hunting & trout fishing & were successful in both! Great view from inside the cabin & out at the campfire including a view of Lake Superior! Kitchen had all we needed & bedroom & bath were comfortable & well stocked. Great communication with Elam & all our questions were answered Looking forward to book for snowmobiling this winter & again next fall.

Cozy tiny cabin with great amenities

We took our first North Shore trip with our infant son, and wanted a nice home base to stay at between trips to the state parks and Grand Marais. This cabin was a perfect cozy little setup for our needs. Super cute interior, very peacefully tucked away in a wooded spot (saw some great wildlife) and great amenities (the snack box was a lovely extra touch!) Super clean, and very responsive hosts as well. Thanks for a great stay!

Charming Cabin

My wife and I (and our dog) stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed this cozy little cabin. It's located on a very private and quiet lot, which made it seem very peaceful. Loved the bonus of the very generous treat/snack basket provided, altough it did cause us to overindulge on S'mores a bit, but we were on vacation, so calories don't count, right? All communication with the owner/property managers went seamlessly and they were quick to reply.

Would stay again. Perfect for 1-4 individuals. I stayed with 2 young children ages 4-9. They loved the cabin, loft, board games, hammock, and firepit. I enjoyed the master bedroom with views of woods. Quiet, private, and safe location. 30 min south of grand Marais allows you to hit up multiple sites along north shore. Great communication from owner too.

Way better than listed

"Tiny" is an exaggeration!This is the first place on any short-term-stay site where I've had my expectations blown away in every aspect. It's very well-stocked, SUPER cute and I'd loveeee to stay here again!My fiancee and I came here to celebrate our engagement in the Spring, and neither of us had a single negative thing to say, which is saying something because we are chronic complainers.Lots of cute features that aren't advertised, like stained glass lightshades etc.!You'd best believe we'll be back here soon!Plenty of extra features not listed in the description too, like a cute swing! Again, note that we were here in Spring before the deciduous trees had their young leaves come through - the trees aren't dead!!

Northern Lights Sweet Little Retreat

I enjoyed this little cabin so much! It had everything you would need for 1-2 people, in my case myself and my dog. It is perfectly situated a very short distance from hwy 61 half way between Grand Marais and Two Harbors and close to any state park along 61, hiking, food and shopping. It was quiet with a peek-a-boo view of Lake Superior from the cabin. On our last day we were treated to Northern Lights. Pretty much a dream stay. Owners are amazing and very responsive. Loved everything about it! Thank you for a perfect fall retreat! Kristine and Gordie

Kathryn and Elam have been Short Term Rental hosts since 2010, we purchased this 1900's hand-built log cabin in 2020 to lived there for a year while renovating it and turning it into the perfect family getaway. We now use it as our North Shore retreat and share it with others when we're not staying there.

Located minutes from some of the North Shores most sought after experiences, you have easy access to everything from famous state parks and trails, to Lutsen Mountain Skiing, to the beautiful art town of Grand Marais.
