The property is NOT suitable for loud parties and immature guests. Pets are not allowed unless individually approved and require a $25 per pet per night fee.

Living Space

The Grey Heron House living room offers plenty of opportunity to relax. Sink into the soft leather furniture and watch TV or a movie on the large wall-mounted Plasma TV. For the quieter times, enjoy an evening by the fire of the gas log fireplace. The terrace level features a pool table, wet bar, second refrigerator, and a seven person hot tub just outside on the deck.

The Grey Heron House has a kitchen suitable for a gourmet cook; with all stainless steel appliances, including a 5 burner gas cook top, double ovens, two dishwashers, and ample counter space, you'll have plenty of room to spread out and cook that perfect vacation meal.

Screened Porch

Adjacent to the kitchen is the huge screened porch with a stainless gas grill. Be sure to spend an evening on the porch in the cool mountain air, enjoying a family barbecue and the amazing views.

The large master bedroom is on the main level, and has direct access to the screened porch. The master bath has a separate shower with three heads, and whirlpool tub.

The Grey Heron House's upper level offers an absolutely breathtaking view of the mountains and Toccoa River (you can see over a mile of the river). The upper level has three additional bedrooms, a large bathroom, and a den with a large TV.

About Greg Spencer

The Toccoa House Properties Story Proprietor Greg Spencer initially discovered the Blue Ridge area on a backpacking trip to the Cohutta Wilderness in the 1980’s. A short time later, enamored of the area, Greg embarked on a land purchasing mission that led him to 12 acres of undeveloped acreage. Amazed by the beauty of the Toccoa River and the inspiring views of the surrounding mountains, Greg wasted no time in securing what is now known as the Toccoa House Properties.

Greg Spencer purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Greg Spencer chose Blue Ridge

Amazed by the beauty of the Toccoa River and the inspiring views of the surrounding mountains, Greg wasted no time in securing what is now known as the Toccoa House Properties. During the 1990’s Greg built a small cabin, The Riverside Cabin, on the Toccoa River, and envisioned a larger house that he later built on the ridge above: The Toccoa House, completed in 2000. Next came The Carriage House in 2002, and the in-ground, seasonally heated swimming pool in 2007. Our newest addition, The Grey Heron House, was completed in late 2007. Dana is a native of North Georgia and brings Southern Charm to each Guest Experience, handling the Reservation Process, Housekeeping and Custom Arrangements. Our pets and property mascots, Budrow, Lily and Bobby Jo (BJ is named for the Blue Ridge couple, Bobby and Jo, who gave him to us, thank you so much!!), may greet you if they happen to be on the property when you visit. While they often bark, what they really want is for you to pet them! Thank You So Much For Visiting, Dana and Greg

What makes this cabin unique

Since our 12 acre property spans over 1000 feet of Toccoa River frontage, and consists of a peninsula created by a horseshoe bend in the river, we are surrounded by water on three sides. We are close to town, yet secluded and private. We have other units available, please contact us for more information.

Our most successful family reunion thanks to Dana and Greg who are wonderful to work with.

  • 5 of 5

Our four cabins were comfortable and perfect for the age groups that my sister, brother and I, the "seniors", were hosting. We had 32 people between the ages of 3 and 77 - four generations. We all loved the pool and being down by the river. There were hikes nearby that we even took the "littles" on and thoroughly enjoyed. The train ride was a huge success and the kids loved mining for gems. Our nine second-generation cousins came from Georgia, Texas and California had a fabulous time just hanging out together especially when when the "seniors" took the kids on "juniors night out.". Our family reunion was a tremendous success ! Thanks Dana and Greg.

Stunning, well maintained and amazingly peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at Grey Heron House and had an amazing time. The house is very spacious and well maintained. The owners Greg and Dana Spencer are terrific people and were very gracious with answering all of my questions and making sure our needs were accommodated. The town is beautiful and quite picturesque. We loved our time here and look forward to returning.

My family and I stayed for Christmas. The house was decorated for the holidays and freshly chopped wood. Great view from the house of the river. The owners were very nice and was available at anytime if we needed anything. We will be making another trip to the Grey Heron Property again soon.

We loved our stay at the Grey Heron. Would definitely return & spread the word about this property.

  • 5 of 5

Our family (ended up being about 13) really enjoyed our stay. The Grey Heron is very spacious, cozy & very well equipped with everything you could possibly think of (even

w/a high chair & play pen for little ones). The owner Greg was very responsive & hospitable (very important to me because I’m a communicator & appreciate communication!) Didn’t even mind being snowed in because everything we needed was already in place. Not to mention, views were absolutely beautiful, especially the snow views. As a suggestion, if visiting in the fall/winter months, request or bring fire wood. You will not be disappointed with your stay. We’re already planning our next visit.
