Dancing Bear Den - Lake View, Knotty Pine, Pets Welcome

Bedrooms 3
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 baths, hot tub, (Sleeps 10)

Dancing Bear Den!

In recent years three siblings and their families have enjoyed and shared with you, our Tahoe tourists, a cute, knotty pine cabin named after our 'Papa Bear' who created our family legacy with a Tahoe cabin for summer and winter adventures.

Instead of Papa Bear’s Tahoe Cabin, however, we are so excited now to introduce our new cabin, Dancing Bear Den! The Dancing Bear Den is just a few houses away from our former Papa Bear’s cabin, still has a view of Lake Tahoe, and has more room – and a hot tub!!!

We are sharing the cabin with you to create your own memories - whether family vacation, couple's getaway, honeymoons or ski vacation. The access is fabulous, right on the highway so you won't get stuck in the snow, with a wide, level driveway that can fit four cars and a boat.

Lake View! There's a partial view of Lake Tahoe from the deck and the living room.

Features! The cabin can sleep up to 10 people. There are two bedrooms downstairs, each with a queen bed, along with a full bath, washer/dryer, kitchen, and living room. There is a large loft bedroom upstairs, with two bunkbeds (full bed on bottom, twin on top) and a full bath. Paneled in knotty pine throughout, Dancing Bear Den is filled with the Tahoe bear décor.

Dog Friendly! There is a nice backyard to let your dog out. We will be building a fence this summer for Fido.

No Smoking! Please don't rent this cabin if you are a smoker.

Close to resorts! The cabin is located in the middle of the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, close to Northstar, Homewood, Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley, as well as Tahoe Cross Country Ski Center. Many more ski areas are within an hour's drive. There are beaches across the North Shore, public bus access right out the front door, restaurants and shopping within minutes.

This cabin opens the door to a wonderful world of Tahoe adventures.

About The Owner

The family which jointly owns Dancing Bear Den shares a love of Lake Tahoe and frequently visits this special place. Of the three children, the Caninos have lived in Cedar Flat, just a few blocks away, for more than 30 years and manage the property; the Bransons are in the Reno/Sparks area and the Inman/Borgias family comes for frequent visits from Denver.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2016

Why The Owner chose Carnelian Bay

Papa Bear chose to purchase a cabin so he could spend his summers golfing at Old Brockway Golf Course and enjoying his friends along the lake. After he went to heaven, his kids continue the legacy of a love of Tahoe. Now that his grandchildren are adults themselves, the Dancing Bear Den offers more room.

What makes this cabin unique

You will encounter a Tahoe experience in this cute cabin that you could not have in a motel or resort. You will experience Tahoe's quaint past in this cabin, while enjoying all Tahoe's many resorts, restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing opportunities.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

This place is a very cute place to stay with friends or family! Very roomy! It was super close to the beach and surrounded by grocery stores, which was very convenient! Hot tub was nice and backyard was super cute! Everyone that stayed with us loved the place, we had plenty of room. The binder was helpful in answering all our questions! We would love to stay here again next year!!

Great time with the family, kiddos and dogs!

  • 5 of 5

This place was great! Super cozy and a lake view right from the front porch. There was plenty of room in the house for everyone and the hot tub was awesome. We really enjoyed our stay here and would absolutely stay again! Highly recommend for a family with kids and dogs or couple families. Fenced in backyard was awesome. We all had a great time. Thanks again so much Ted. One recommendation was for the towels for the hot tub, we had read to bring extra towels and I was glad we did. Better to have your own beach towel anyways I think. :)

cozy family home in great location

  • 5 of 5

Our pack of two humans and two small dogs enjoyed our stay here very much. The snow was piled high all around but the driveway and the path to the front door was well shoveled. The furniture was comfy as a family den, the kitchen well equipped, the fireplace cozy and warm. Couldn't use the back yard or spa as the snow was about 5 feet deep back there! The location is perfect, near Tahoe City, looking out at the lake. It's on the main road but there wasn't much traffic after dark. Well connected with cable and Internet. All in all, exactly what we were hoping for and a very nice time.

Beautiful but very noisy, hot tub did not work

  • 2 of 5

The Dancing Bear den is very nice and cozy but we ran into a couple issues:

- the house is super noisy- it's impossible to get up in the AM, especially in the mezzanine, without waking everybody up

- the hot tub did not work (never warmed pub after we turned it on one morning)

- while the address of the house was correct on the check in PDF, the address in the rental information section of VRBO was incorrect which led us to look for the wrong house for 30min- would be good to correct

- there was no soap or shampoo in the bathrooms

Not sure we would stay again.

Great cabin, great time.

  • 5 of 5

Ted was very helpful to us, even in helping us get access (after check-out) to grab a personal item that we forgot to take with us! This cabin is very cozy, comfortable, well-placed, and the loft is great for the kids! We bought wood but forgot to actually have a fire, but I'm sure that would've been great too! I would definitely recommend this cabin for a family with kids and a dog - the back yard made it very easy for our dog to go outside. We'd definitely stay here again.
