Just steps from Tahoe National Forest, this beautifully furnished Chalet Cabin offers a spectacular view of nature. Enjoy watching snowflakes drift lazily through the pines from the couch, three recliners, or deck. Envision yourself in front of the fireplace gazing through the windows, a warm drink in hand. The peaceful ambiance at this cabin offers guests a reason to do absolutely nothing, completely without guilt! Slow down, take a break, unwind, loosen up, chill out, and put your feet up. When you get tired of watching the views, draw the drapes, start a fire in the wood-burning fireplace. And when you are as relaxed as you can be, West Shore is a terrific place from which to do just about everything at Lake Tahoe.
We are two miles from West Shore Café and Inn. We are happy to have guests of the wedding party book with us. We are not licensed for events - parties, bridal showers, weddings, etc.
Enjoy the beauty of North Lake Tahoe’s sunny West Shore in our chalet style cabin. Our cabin is two blocks off of Highway 89 and backs up to open space. It is four hours to San Francisco and two hours to Sacramento. There’s room for two families. The cabin has three bedrooms and a loft so it sleeps eight-ten comfortably. There’s off street parking for three vehicles in the winter. We own the lot next to us and it can be used for parking additional cars and/or a boat in the summer. It has a guest house on the property that is also available for rent (see ad 332392). The guest cabin may be rented by other guests during your stay.
Our 1850 sq. ft. cabin sits on a half-acre lot on a flat road. The cabin has wood and beam ceilings with custom-made doors throughout the house. The living room has a vaulted ceiling with views of the National Forest. Our living room has a couch and three recliners for people who are serious about relaxing. On the opposite wall of the fireplace is an entertainment center with a 60” Smart TV and a DVD player. The center holds books and DVDs. There are a total of four flat screen TV’s, WIFI and a landline phone with unlimited long distance. The living room opens by two sliding doors to the front deck which has a barbecue, chairs & table.
The kitchen is new with stainless steel appliances and granite counters plus all other eating, serving, and preparation items. The dining room is separate and seats ten people. There’s a booster seat for a young child. It also has its own gas heating stove in the dining room – great for drying wet snow apparel. We have two sleds for this cabin and two for the guest cabin.
Sleeping - The master bedroom is upstairs and has a shared bath with the loft. The loft has a daybed with a trundle and the living room has a sofa sleeper. The loft overlooks the living room and is a great place for your children to play games and entertain themselves. All three of the bedrooms have queen beds with quality mattresses. The downstairs bath has a private vanity area from the tub/shower/toilet area. There’s a Pak ’n Play in the closet for your use.
PETS are permitted only with prior approval and payment of pet fee. If you should bring a pet without prior approval, you will forfeit your deposit. We allow one pet of <30 lbs. Pet fee of $15/day. Please do not allow your pet on the furniture as this will result in extra cleaning fees to be taken from your deposit. Dogs must be in a crate when you leave the house. Pets tend to scratch doors if left alone in a strange house.

About Kitty Travnikoff
Lloyd is a retired General Contractor. Kitty is a retired primary teacher. We have 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren.
Kitty Travnikoff purchased this Cabin in 1984
Why Kitty Travnikoff chose Tahoma
I'm from Wisconsin and like to see snow a few times a year. We used to visit Tahoe before we built our cabin. Lloyd was working on a Safeway when I found our lots. We liked the area because it offered summer and winter sports that we liked. Tahoe is 2 hours away for us so a quick weekend getaway is possible. We like to go sledding, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, bike riding and gambling. Tahoe fit the bill.
What makes this Cabin unique
I love the peace and quiet. No immediate neighbors. We own our side of the block and the neighbor across from us owns the whole block and his house faces the other street.

Overall great place for family for vacation
The location was perfect for snowboarding, as it was close to Squaw Valley and others. It was also nice to find out how close it was to south lake if you were interested in casinos. The property was in a secluded area at the end of a street which we liked. It snowed heavily the night before and day of arrival which kinda killed parking for only the first night. But they were on it. The heating worked well, almost to well. There were a lot of different thermostat that controlled the heat and my husband and I were really hot up stairs. Come to find out, there is a thermostat by the fridge. Make sure you only use ones you need. But not really a complaint. There were spices and creamer etc available but not to much dry food stock for cooking which I have had at other places but very beautiful kitchen. Very clean and comfortable. The Netflix was a nice added feature and the kids loved it. The kid books were nice to have. We had story nights and read all of them. Wish the patio would have been available to stand out on In the morning and have coffee. The snow was up to the fence. They offered hills to do some sledding and sleds but so much snow it was impossible to get to the hills they mapped. It also was odd that in the check-out instructions it stated we would be charged if the housekeeper had to move the furniture to original position. I didn’t know this till after all three chairs in living room were moved for space to open the side sliders and to watch tv because the chairs were to close to the tv and to wall so you could no recline. Take pictures in advance so you remember what it looked like. In conclusion, this is a great deal for the price and would definitely recommend this home for vacation. Plus it pet friendly. Thanks so much for the great rental. Will be using this place in the future.
Sorry for the problem with the snow, a heavy snow can cause problems. We do have a rule about the moving of furniture. There is no need to take pictures of the furniture if it is still in the same room. A few times people have taken the barbecue, chairs and table to the front lawn or moved recliners to the bedroom and left them there for the housekeeper to move back. Then we need to hire someone to help her. We know that 99% of people wouldn't dream of doing this. We've never had to charge anyone for moving furniture since we've had this rule.
We love coming to this home. It is spacious, very comfortable (from the beds and recliners to the appliances) and the location is perfect: at the end of a cul-de-sac backed up by forest, and just a fee blocks from the Lake! The owners are kind and resposive. We feel so fortunate that they decided to share their home and will keep coming here as long and often as possible!
Always glad to have you back.
Overall, I liked the chalet. Plenty of room for our party of 5, plus a small dog. Kitchen was well stocked with all needed cutlery and appliances. Place was clean, and very homey. Yes, you can walk to the beach, but it was 15 minutes walk. My family and I felt very safe at the house. I like having 2 keys, and plenty of parking. There was plenty of books, but no board games, which would have been a nice touch. We did have to take out the garbage and strip the beds, which I have not been accustomed to at other homes. Overall, I would come back to this house.
Thank you for the review. It's always good to get feedback.
I also think board games are a good idea. We tried it but it didn't work for anyone as the game parts were mixed with other games or missing altogether.
We have guests strip the beds because some guests would make the beds when they got up. This made it look like the bed wasn't used and housekeepers might not know to wash the sheets. We have guests remove the garbage as the housekeeper doesn't always clean on the day guests leave if they are busy and a new guest isn't coming in right away. We're concerned about odor issues.
Peace in Paradise
Quiet, peaceful, and elegant. We absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed staying at this location with awesome accomodations, next to trails, both hiking and biking. The mornings were magnificent with songs of nature against the backdrop of the forest. And, it was immaculate and well kept. I would not hesitate staying here again, and look forward to another chance when I can. Thank you for letting us experience your place!
Wonderful host / experience
Extremely nice host (Kitty). I can't thank you enough for your above and beyond. This cabin is gorgeous, beautifully and comfortably furnished and extremely well stocked! We loved it and I love the location. We are already looking over dates for a return trip, thank you again!
Loved this little cabin....
We have rented many cabins in Tahoe and this was by far the most well equipped. Beds were very comfortable. The location was great. Rental process was easy. We would definitely stay here again!
Thanks Gracie, I appreciate all the nice things you had to say! Don't forget to ask for a return renter's discount of 5%.
Paddlewheel boat at 800 238 2463. We have a binder that lists activities with phone number and some flyers. Tahoe has hundreds of activities for those who enjoy nature. It is close to many unique shops and dining. Reno and South Shore offer entertainment for concerts and gambling.
