About this property

Cozy 1890 Cottage Studio with Hot Tub and Fire Pit in Downtown Kennebunk

This lovely studio exudes a charming cottage vibe while retaining its gorgeous 1890s allure. It is situated in a peaceful area just a brief stroll or bike ride away from the historic downtown Kennebunk, which offers delightful coffee shops, local cuisine, boutique stores, and a lively Saturday farmer's market. The Kennebunk/Kennebunkport beaches are only a 5-mile drive away, and a beach parking pass is included, saving you $25 per day. This is an ideal location for those seeking a quiet retreat away from the crowds while still being within close proximity to all the action. Additionally, it is less than 2 miles from Interstate 95, making it easily accessible from Portland.

I am new to VRBO but I am a highly reviewed 9 year host on the other popular platform. The studio has a comfortable Queen bed with luxury sheets and beautiful quilts. It is equipped with a 32 inch Roku TV for watching your own favorite Netflix, Hulu or Amazon subscriptions. Wifi throughout.

The kitchenette has a table for two, an apartment sized refrigerator, convection oven, microwave, skillet, Keurig coffee maker with pods and all dishes & utensils for the convenience of morning coffee, at-home dining & picnic makings. Also enjoy our backyard BBQ grill for your outdoor lunch or dinner. Have your morning coffee in the backyard and listen to the birds.

The studio has a large clean bathroom with shower (no tub).
This unit is suitable for one or two people with the possibility of an additional baby or small child under 2 in a provided pack-n-play (upon request), however the studio is not child-proofed.

Linens & towels are provided as well as beach chairs, beach towels, cooler & picnic basket. Don’t worry about overloading your car with these beach necessities!

Other area features besides the beaches and shopping & dining include the Eastern Trail biking/hiking system as well as many other secret (just ask!) trails nearby. Some guests have enjoyed bringing or renting a kayak to paddle the Mousam River which leads to the ocean. Just yards from the Inn, you can enjoy coffee shops, restaurants, bowling, the Saturday morning farmer’s market and Wednesday evening concerts in the park. … all quaint unique Maine experiences.

The fire pit is the ultimate quintessential Maine experience to enjoy your wine, beer, margarita or S’mores! It’s like camping in the middle of town!
The inflatable hot tub must be experienced to be appreciated. It is amazing that whatever stresses you have can be soothed away by a small inflatable hot tub!!

Easy access & central location

As Seniors, my husband & I enjoyed the stay. It was a great starting point for our Whale tour, visiting the beach & driving the Beautiful coastline.

We booked this rental primarily because it advertised a hot tub. The hot tub was dirty, there were no instructions on how to use it, and the binder simply said to contact the owner. This requirement was never disclosed before booking or arrival. The owner admitted it hadn't been cleaned and said she would take care of it, but also commented that she was surprised we wanted to use it in the hot weather. We overheard the owner use profanity outside our window regarding us, then received a message saying we could not use the hot tub that night. This was unprofessional and made us feel unwelcome.Communication throughout our stay was poor. We repeatedly had to contact the owner for basic information, including parking and where to find the beach chairs. Check-out instructions weren't provided until the day before departure. The front door handle was loose and did not lock properly and the deadbolt was difficult to lock/unlock. The toilet handle felt loose from the beginning of our stay. By the end of our stay, the toilet handle finally broke. Luckily, my husband knew how to work the toilet with a broken handle. The walls were thin enough to hear neighboring guests, which impacted our ability to relax. The shower pressure was excessively high. The positives were the convenient location, effective A/C, and quiet neighborhood. However, the poor communication, unavailable hot tub for one night and unprofessional behavior made this a disappointing stay. We would not recommend.

Monica was a high maintenance guest from the moment she arrived. I don’t believe she had ever stayed at a VRBO property as she had no reviews. She arrived before check-in time and a multitude of self explanatory questions began. I provide a binder with all details regarding the room & amenities. It was the 4th of July weekend and the hottest day of the summer. She’s correct, I did not have the hot tub ready for guests and I apologized. It’s a blow up outdoor hot tub and requires daily maintenance. When I arrived home that first evening, the hot tub had been turned off and it was deflated. They were the only guests who inquired about it so my suspicion is they went ahead and tried the buttons even tho they were told It was not useable. She used it the next night for 3 hours when other guests were waiting. No other guest has complained about the door, the thin walls (it’s an 1800 antique former B&B.. yes old homes have thin walls). Most guests compliment the shower and this unit has its own mini/split Ac/heat and is the most comfortable unit to stay in my home. Where to park was thoroughly explained in a message thru the VRBO app. Easy check-out instructions are provided the evening before as there are no requirements besides taking your things, leaving the key & beach parking pass. Monica tried to get back money from her stay thru her bank. Some people can’t be pleased. I suggest she stay at hotels. ** Please read my other stellar reviews from happy guests. **

This couple was very confused when making their first Vrbo reservation. My description is very clear and my other 5 star reviews show a typical stay. I also have 385 positive reviews on another platform.

Short Stay

We had a lovely stay. A friend and I stayed for 3 nights while we traveled around the area. It was nice to have a beach pass to use. Sherry also had chairs and a cooler for us to borrow for the beach. She has a cute backyard with a hot tub. She was easy to get in touch with. We had a nice stay

Great location - close to major attractions

Property was exactly as listed. Perfect for 2. Very clean & had most of everything we needed for a long weekend. The house is very big and separated into different units which allowed for privacy for everyone. Sherry was always available via text & answered any questions, including great suggestions for restaurants, promptly. Remember that the unit has no stove but you can bbq if you wish outside. The hot tub was great, especially on a rainy evening when walking around the town was out of the question. My only suggestion would be the unit could use a cutlery set or at least steak knives. This property is located in Kennebunk, not Kennebunkport so you have to drive if you're heading to Kennebunkport, which is just a few miles away. But Kennebunk itself is just a stones throw away with great restaurants, an awesome bowling alley with award winning menu & lots of antique and/or vintage shops walking & driving distance on the main strip. The locations is excellent as it allows for you to visit all the major town attractions in minutes. Great host, great location, great environment & great price.
