Trout Creek Ranch is located on 50 acres with Trout Creek running through the property and feeding two trout ponds. The ranch has beautiful views of Pikes Peak. There are many different species of wildlife living on and near the ranch, such as deer, elk, bear, fox, geese and ducks.

In the evening, relaxed by the fireplace or chimineas, have a glass of wine, coffee or cocoa. View the exquisite mountain sunsets and early morning sunrises. At night, it's a stargazers dream! With no city lights, the stars are bright and plentiful, no traffic noise to interfere with the orchestral sounds of nature. Six outdoor seating areas offer plenty of gathering spots for quiet times, grilling, fun times or just getting the whole gang together! The peaceful sound of rushing water from the pond can be heard from the grilling deck. You also can enjoy incredible views of the 50 acre property.

You will find the rugged charm of a mountain getaway with all the amenities of a modern hotel: gourmet kitchen, vaulted ceilings supported by big wooden beams, Wi-Fi, cable, Blu-ray/DVD player, flatscreen TVs, huge washer and dryer, sauna and 85 gallon jetted tub. Enjoy gazing at the views through the full wall of windows on each of the three levels.

About Wendell Howie

As a former Dallas banker & business owner we traveled to Colordo every year. We were married in the home and travel much of the time. It's our privilege to make the Ranch available for others to enjoy. Our goal is to share this remarkable natural setting with our guests by providing private, warm and luxurious accommodations and a memorable visit to the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

Wendell Howie purchased this house in 2001

Why Wendell Howie chose South Central

We love the Rocky Mountains and the Colorado Springs Region. We purchased the property back in 1999 with my father and brother. In 2001 we had finished our homes. Mine and my brothers homes are approximate approximately 4000 Sq Ft. with my fathers at around 2000 Sq Ft. located right on one of the Trout Ponds. (He fishes from his deck).

What makes this house unique

The Ranch has two beautiful Trout ponds with 'Trout Creek' running thru each. The Pikes Peak National Forest with over 150 miles of trails, is less the 1/2 mile from the Ranch. We are only 5 minutes from the town of Woodland Park and 25 minutes from Colorado Springs.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just wanted to thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home. I miss waking up to the mountain view! I don't know If you hear that our almost 2 1/2 year old grandson caught his first fish out there in your pond! My husband would cast it out for him and let him reel it in. Well, on one of the casts he caught a fish. Tim said his eyes got really big and he just focused on reeling. Tim asked him if he could feel him. He said, "I feel him!" He caught 2 fish by himself! Pretty special!! It was so nice that he could run around and fish. If we only could have gotten him to sleep would have been nice. He is a home body and was really glad to be going home to see his cat, lawn mower, weed eater, leaf blower and 4 wheeler. I enjoyed our walk down to the dumpster the last night. Love the stream and the landscape! A beautiful place. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Beautiful home with great views of the mountains & pine forests.

  • 5 of 5

Wendell & Liliana were great hosts. They explained the property well and answered questions we had later via text and phone calls to make sure everything was going well. We especially enjoyed the deck heater for late night cocktails.

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

There were 10 in our group, 3 families, ranging in age from 70 to 5 years old. We had a wonderful vacation, a 70th birthday celebration, an engagement celebration & a family reunion. The pictures of the home are great, but it is even better in person. You can tell much thought went into the design of this home. There are rooms large enough for everyone to gather, but if you want privacy the bedrooms are a nice size & each have their own deck except 1 (good bedroom for children). The jacuzzi tub is delightful after a day of hiking. The main area, great room, dining room, kitchen & decks are large enough that we were able to have family who live in the area over for dinner without feeling crowded. We had some rain, so this was important. The home is clean & the beds are comfortable. The location is good. We hiked 2 days, went to the North Pole. visited Garden of the Gods & Cave of the Winds. We just wished we could have stayed longer. If you have a large group, this is the perfect place to rent! My husband & I have successfully used VRBO/HomeAway for years & this is by far the nicest home.

Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

My family had a wonderful time on our vacation and this home was spectacular. The stocked trout ponds were a lot of fun for me and my daughter (6 and just learning to fly fish). The house was very clean and had all of the kitchen and other supplies anyone would need. The location is very convenient to Woodland Park. The setting and views were spectacular offering wildlife, hiking, fishing, and exploring. We would definitely stay here again!

Great Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, along with our two children and their spouses and our 6 granddaughters stayed in this beautiful home for 5 days. The home allowed for everything we were looking for, with great space for all of us to enjoy activities and fun together, as well as allowing for some privacy if so desired. We truly enjoyed our stay there and would recommend this property to others.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at this home. Wendell's wife met us when we arrived and gave us a tour

We saw deer, Marmot, and birds from the house. We caught trout in the pond and had a great time exploring the property. The house is very nice. Wendell has the spice cabinet stocked so you don't have to purchase any kind of spice. We also enjoyed the ice maker in the fridge.

A couple of negative things:

The Windows do not have window coverings so you are up with the sun and most don't have screens so bugs come in while you have them open. We couldn't get the doors to lock either... We never felt unsafe, but it's just something we noticed.

Overall, it was such a wonderful week and you will enjoy this home!

Owner's Response: We are of glad that you enjoyed your visit to our home on the ranch. We have not used window covering on the home due to the private setting and the beautiful scenery out side. I wish we had known about your not being able to lock the doors. The area is very safe and we for many years never locked the doors, however, every door does lock. As for the screens, we have never had any problems with bugs coming in at night. We hope you can return sometime. Wendell and Lili

Beautiful home, surrounded by quiet mountain forest.

  • 5 of 5

The home was beautiful, comfortable and well-maintained. We cooked/grilled every night and appreciated the high-end kitchen and large dining table. The views were spectacular, and we loved the quiet surroundings. The owners were terrific, and even did some late-night maintenance to the road after a strong storm came through, to make driving conditions safe for us. Two things would have made it perfect -- a pull-out sofa bed somewhere (we were a group of adults, so room-sharing got a bit complicated), and more seating space in the living room so that everyone could gather together. Highly recommend this lovely house for a group mountain getaway.
