The cottage itself was fine - place was comfortable, location was nice and quiet. Most of the cooking utensils were in really bad shape, but we're letting that slide since we requested a new cutting board and they did deliver a new one quickly.
Our main issue is with the excessive cleaning charge which we felt was unfair because we followed all their checkout instructions, yet they sent us bogus reasons as to why we got the extra charge. For example, they sent us photos of what is very clearly rat poop on a ledge (gross), claiming it to be from our cat. There was some cat hair on the rugs and couches sure, but we already paid a pet fee (which for some reason was double what was listed in the description?) in addition to the cleaning fees, so it felt like they didn't want to actually clean the place themselves and charged us extra for it.
We felt like we had an overall good stay, but these extra charges felt like they were just looking for reasons to charge us, which left a bad taste in our mouth. Seems like the expectation was for us to vacuum/mop/sanitize the place ourselves, which we would've been fine with had it been communicated to us, yet they charged us extra for various bogus reasons on top of the already pricy cleaning fee.
