Come enjoy our beautiful pool home on a large 100' lot located in Marathon, in the heart of the Florida Keys. There is immediate ocean and gulf access through Boot Key Harbor to the 7 Mile Bridge for big game or back country fishing. There is plenty of room for your boat with 50 feet of dockage available and a 5+ foot draft. Surround yourself with the amazing tropical landscaping, or relax under the covered screened porch. Dozens of palm trees, orchids and native Florida landscape surround this private home. Plenty of patio furniture, a fish cleaning station and an outside shower by the dock make this the ultimate Keys retreat. Cement walkways take you from the porch and carport to the dock and patio area. The pool patio offers plenty of sunshine to work on your Florida tan. Lounge chairs and chairs available by the pool and on the dock.

This home has parking for three vehicles and one boat trailer. Trailers with guides not permitted inside carport. Guides must be removed. Rates quoted are for a maximum of 6 Guests. Additional occupants/visitors must be disclosed and will be considered. Leaser must be at least 25 years old.

Excellent home! Clean, great location, great Keys vibe!

We arrived to the home not knowing what the weather would be. It was 75+ degrees for our entire stay! The home was clean, linens seemed new, and the kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed the BBQ grill, as we like to stay home and cook. Plenty of plates and utensils. Home has a dishwasher, which some rentals in the Keys do not have.

Dockage was great and easy to manage. There is a great ramp just on the other side of US1. We walked to Keys Fisheries. The photos do not show, but there are new TV's throughout the home.

Great Keys getaway!

We arrived for the long Memorial Day weekend, coming down from Daytona. The wind didn't always cooperate but we were still able to get offshore and catch a few mahi! My wife liked the sailboats in Boot Key Harbor, and there are a few restaurants to pull up to on the boat. Easy to get gas, ice, and bait on the way out.

This house is what the Keys is supposed to be. Palm trees, a pool, beach style chairs to relax in after fishing. If you are looking for much more than that, the Keys probably isn't for you!

Owner's Response: We are happy you enjoyed your stay. We provide plenty of seating so guests can enjoy the large screened porch and pool patio. Great way to wind down after a long day on the water. House was dirty!!!

We stayed at this house the beginning of 2016. The location of the house was great, however it’s near the hospital & the helicopter flies in often.

We arrived late & it was dark. We unloaded & went to bed. In the morning light we found the house was extremely dirty – filthy! Everything was dirty, the walls, floors, corners, furniture, rugs, blinds, cabinets, drawers – everything! The garage had been made into a master bedroom long ago. The washer & dryer area (which was left garage like) made into a bathroom. This bathroom was so dirty. The tiled floor was yucky in corners & behind toilet. Dust from dryer was on walls & in bedroom. Shower so small a normal person won’t fit. Bedroom carpet was beyond dirty with a huge wet stain. I never walked barefoot on this carpet. I have pictures.

The other 2 bedrooms share a bathroom. This bathroom had old tile and fixtures was retro cute, however the bathtub had lime deposits in need of scrubbing. Bathmat was a horrible & moldy. We soon learned the water heater wasn't working & a bedroom overhead fan didn’t work. They came to fix & replace - but didn’t finish & left fan parts lying around for the remainder of our stay.

This house could be really cute, we love older homes. The gravel yard is over grown with what the owner said was wild flowers, really?? They may be, but to us its laziness to let them take over. The back is overgrown with palms trees and fallen palms & coconuts. Don’t sit under the palms trees!!

The pictures in this add are old!! The side of the car port has rusty paint cans, trash, and bags of old mulch & crap, plus “wild flowers” and vines growing. The outside is just as dirty as the inside.

To be fair owner did offer to have the lady clean again. By this time we had our stuff unloaded & since they hadn’t come back to fix the fan we declined. I showed the owner the master bathroom/bedroom, the grim, dust & dead bugs on the blinds, dirty floors & the carpet - she showed little to no concern.

I DO NOT recommend this house until you read the entire house has been painted in/outside, gashes in the walls repaired; house thoroughly cleaned (including furniture), carpet and broken easy chair replaced. Kitchen drawers cleaned & scrubbed. On the good side - Refrig was clean & TV was nice. The iguana that lives in the trees was fun to watch, he likes cantaloupe & grapes.

I hope the fan in the bedroom got fixed. I'm not betting on it.

Owner's Response: The day the renter said she was unhappy with with the cleanliness I said I would have the maid return immediately. The renter declined. She said it was not really a problem and would be OK. Later she said one bedroom fan did not work, but that they were not using that bedroom, so it didn't matter. I drove to Marathon to personally check the house and meet a handyman to replace the fan. The handyman was to return the next day with a part. He said no one answered when he returned. Unfortunately, he did not finish the job while she was there, but this was a room they did not use and stated they did not need a new fan. While I was at the house the renter showed me one bathroom she was unhappy with. There was a layer of dust on the top of the door jam. The dryer is in this bathroom so the dust must have accumulated up there. I again said I would have the maid return immediately and correct the dust and anything else she was unhappy with. She declined. She showed me the scuffed up door jam next to the breakfast table. Someone had banged into it with the chair which is on casters. The paint on the door jam was chipped.. I told her renters aren't always considerate with my house. That would have to be painted between guests. There are no gashes in the wall. Just this door jam. When the hot water heater was not heating properly, I called the plumber immediately. The hot water heater is less than a year old. He replaced an element. I checked the pictures on the website. They are accurate, except that two bedrooms and the living room have been painted. She should have noticed that. My renters like the palm trees in the back yard. Especially renters from the north. And the periwinkles in the front yard were flowering. I thought they were pretty. Goes to show you can't please everyone. It is unfortunate when an appliance or fan stops working. I addressed both issues that day. I immediately addressed this renter's concerns, told her on two occasions my cleaning girl would return and drove to Marathon to check the house personally. The renters before them and after them have been very happy. I have returning guests every year. Unfortunately, happy renters do not usually write reviews. It is unhappy renters that write reviews.

Piece of Paradise

We came to this house the first week of summer vacation. We chose it because of the pool and width of the lot, and we were not disappointed. We had stayed in a duplex last summer, and we felt like we were on top of our neighbors. This home has a fenced yard and palm trees for privacy. The yard is big enough for the kids to run around in. My sons loved looking for coconuts.

The home is clean and has everything we could want. The HD TV in the living room is a nice touch.

We also rented one of the owner's boats, a 20' Dusky. Great boat that was waiting in the water when we arrived. You can't beat that.

The Heart of Paradise!

We couldn't have asked for much more. We arrived in September and received the fall rates. There are still plenty of fish and lobster around, and all the tourists have gone home! We felt like we had all of Marathon to ourselves.

If you want room service and a hoity toity atmosphere, go to Hawk's Cay or Tranquility Bay. If you want a place to relax in PRIVACY, with your own pool, own dock, and an owner who can give you tips on where to find fish and lobster, this is your place!

Yes, it's too good to be true!

1st, ask yourself why there are no reviews since 2011?? Then wave your big red flag and look for another place! We still have the emails of correspondence with the owner to show the poor communication. Some of our issues were…… broken bed in one of the bedrooms, lights didn't work on back porch and it was pitch black at night so no outside sitting by the dock or pool. Both of these things were brought to her attention the first few days of our stay and were not fixed for us.(we have the email she sent back if you'd like to see it) (she said it was probably a breaker and will look at it when we leave…..the breaker is locked up so we couldn't check it ourselves) Grill grates were so rusty that we couldn't use the grill.(we have a pic of it) We were told a week after we got back that she was taking $150 out of our account to fix a piece of trim we pulled down with our boat trailer AND because the figures in the signed contract weren't figured right. The repair was a few screws to put the trim back up. ($25 on the highest end!) So she refigured the contract with different figures (which we still didn't get a copy of) and took the $150. At this point we cut our losses, told her to keep it and choose not to even correspond with her anymore about it. She answers emails with 1 liners and doesn't fully explain anything. We stay in Key Colony Beach every year and wanted to try a place that had a closer pool for my sick wife to get to easier. I'd rather carry her on my back to the pool at KCB than to put her thru the kind of service we got here. We have NEVER left a negative review before in all the years we have been to the keys but felt the public should know the truth because what they did is WRONG. I don't know if the owners can delete these reviews which makes you wonder why there are no reviews since 2011. Run away now……

Owner's Response: We have guests that are pleased with this property and return every year. Happy guests don't always take the time to write an online review. They put their comments in the house guest book. It is an unhappy guest that will want to post a review. This guest had a deduction from his security deposit to cover damage to the carport. He was very happy until that happened.... This guest tore out a 10' section of the carport roof trim pulling his boat trailer out of the carport. His trailer guides were too tall. The interior ceiling is marred from the guides but I only charged him to reinstall the trim. A neighbor notified me that he damaged the carport, the guest did not. I notified the guest by email with pictures and he did admit to the damage. The guest did notify me on the second day that the porch fan lights were out but said it didn't need to be addressed. On the third day the guest emailed to say they had no problems with the bed the first two nights, but on the third day there seemed to be a problem with the box spring. They wanted to let me know so they would not be blamed for it. Again, they said that it did not need to be addressed. I respect our guests wishes for privacy. The guest never mentioned any problem with the grill. The grills are replaced every two years. Owners risk receiving a bad review when a security deposit is charged. Unfortunately, the damaged item must be repaired and the guest charged accordingly.

Key West is an hour ride over the 7 Mile Bridge. Walk the Old 7 Mile Bridge to Pigeon Key. Crane Point Hammock has a great nature trail. Sombrero Beach has grills, walkways, pavilions and bathrooms. Swim with the dolphins in Grassy Key at the Dolphin Research Center, 10 minutes away.
