Sunset 98, Mariner’s Cay is ideally situated in the southwest corner of the Mariner’s Cay compound giving guests a panoramic view of the Folly River as well as knockout sunsets from the wrap-around screen porch. Mariner’s Cay is a gated community of residents and renters, which offers guests not only a swimming pool and tennis courts but also is only minutes away from the beaches and town of Folly Beach either by car, golf cart, bicycle or walking. The privacy and lack of traffic is perfect for small children and teenagers to bike, trike, skateboard or just hang out.
Since Sunset 98 is a corner unit, the view and the light upon entry is one of those ‘wow’ moments. With a southwestern exposure, the kitchen/dining/living area is totally open to the Folly River and marshes, including the occasional school of marlin. The next ‘wow’ moment comes at sunset when one must get his drink, hurry to the balcony and allow him/herself to be awed.
As can be seen by the photos, the unit has a large, master bedroom opening onto the balcony; a twin bedroom off the rear balcony and a double bedroom in the southeast corner for those who just want to get away for a nap or a good book. The open living area has a newly installed flat screen HDTV on a wall pivot, ie, no messing around by the kids...DVD is also included. In addition, both the master and double bedrooms have flat screen HDTVs, and for those who can’t completely get away, wireless is available throughout the unit.
Folly Beach is a six mile long barrier island, and the closest beach to historic Charleston, South Carolina (15 minutes on the Connector) where one can find outstanding cuisine, the performing arts and Civil War history.

After a career in international development, our family has grown up around the world. In Charleston and at Folly Beach, we have found a place to relax and learn a lot more about our own country.
Lois, Owner purchased this condo in 1999
We wanted someplace quiet, yet active, to relax with good restaurants, perhaps a beach, and outstanding culture, cuisine with some history nearby. Hard to find? Yes, but the Charleston Shore at Folly Beach has all of these, as any guest will soon see.
Sunset, relaxation, sunset, walkinig on the beach, sunset, good neighbors, sunset, and fun/friendly atmosphere of Folly Beach.
Thanks so much for the email. We really enjoyed our time and enjoyed the lovely view of Folly River. Every evening, we'd all gather on the deck and have some snacks and watch the sunset. We found the place to be very clean-- we did meet Gigi the first day and she is fabulous. The complex was quiet and Henry (our 2 year old) enjoyed walking around the grounds. No problems with the condo at all. We will keep your email and will likely request to rent the place in the future when we have family coming into town to Atlanta that want to come with us for a beach vacation to Charleston.
We did end up finding a company in Charleston that rents baby equipment, should you get an inquiry in the future from another family renting your condo. It was called "Tots Around Town" and they were great-- reasonably priced and prompt service. We rented a crib that we placed in the room w/the double bed and Henry slept like a champ.
Many thanks again and we enjoyed staying in your lovely condo. It was a wonderful setting for a sunny and pleasant Thanksgiving. Happy Holidays!
#98 Mariner's Cay is a wonderful vacation spot on Folly Beach. My husband and I spent a lovely week there last November. The living area is well cared for and well appointed, perfect for relaxing. But the screened-in porch is the best! I spent many comfortable hours there reading and watching the dolphins, the pleasure boats, and the fabulous sunsets. Lois and Gigi made our stay easy and stress free. We thank you for your personal touch. We will return next year! Laura
My review got lost in a frenzy of "back to school" commitments when we
returned from our "end of summer" vacation, but we had a wonderful time in this condo! We really appreciate
that you all have left your porch screened in rather than enclosing it
like some others. I spent a couple of 7 hour days there reading and
enjoying the breeze, sun, and river noises. My favorite spot!
We'd love to reserve your place again for next summer whenever you get your schedule open. We have a narrower window for travel
next summer and would hate to miss out on what my 4 children now consider "their" condo.
Thank you again for sharing your space with us. Our family feels very at
Enjoyed a beautiful week here. Gigi was great. Would highly recommend this place. Kitchen was well stocked. Beds comfortable. View amazing.
We just returned from a two-week stay at Mariner's Cay #98 and couldn't have been happier with our experience. Thanks to Lois and Gigi, the house was spotless upon our arrival, and our hosts contacted us several times during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our vacation. The views from the screened in porch were wonderful, the kitchen was well-stocked, and our boys enjoyed taking advantage of the pool on almost a daily basis. We've been going to Folly Beach for many years and absolutely love the area. I'd highly recommend #98 for anyone looking for a spacious, well-maintained, convenient vacation rental!
My family and I just returned from staying at Number 98 and could not have been happier with the condo. As previous reviewers have stated, the views of the Folly River and the marshes are unparalleled. We made sure we were on the screened-in porch every night for sunset. Our first sunset, we heard a puffing noise and looked over to see a dolphin cresting out of the water just beside the condo--this was just the first of many dolphin sightings that week. The condo was just the right size for our family of four (including two 5 year olds), and felt like a second home. Nearly every afternoon was spent at the large pool, which never seemed crowded even though many of the units were occupied. Folly Beach was a 2 minute drive away, and downtown Charleston averaged about 20 minutes during the week. We also toured a few other islands in the area, including Isle of Palms, and knew we had found the perfect spot on Folly and at Number 98. We will definitely be back!
Very nice condo. Corner unit with great deck. Enjoyed sitting in the evening to watch dolphins in the river as the sun set!! Nice pool!
