About Mike

I am a teacher in the South Bay who loves to ski, raft, and hike, so North Lake Tahoe is perfect.

Mike purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Mike chose Truckee

Truckee is just excellent, a great mountain town. The cabin is near superb skiing (Northstar, Squaw, Alpine, and Sugar Bowl are all about 20 minutes away), Lake Tahoe is beautiful, the Truckee River is a mile away, Lake Boca is two miles away, and Reno is only about 25 miles. Plus we just love the cabin itself.

What makes this cabin unique

We love the warm days and cool nights here. The cabin is near enough to all the beauty of the area, but not in the heart of the tourist area, so we feel like we truly can get away from it all and relax.

Comfortable, met our needs

  • 4 of 5

Nice, quiet neighborhood. Enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the evening waiting for the interior to cool down. Plenty of room for our golf foursome. Very reasonably priced and would stay here again.

Nice Stay

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was conveniently located for the sightseeing we planned to do. It was spacious for 6 adults and met our overall needs although it did have quite a few rustic mountain living quirks. Be aware that it does get quite warm with no air conditioning if the weather is hot but it did cool off nicely at night.

Peaceful and Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

This is a house that welcomes you the moment you walk through the door. The open living room - dining room - kitchen area invites you to sit and relax.

There is a large stove for heating in the corner of the room that would be lovely in the winter time. We, instead, opted to open all of the windows and enjoyed the cool fresh air each morning with our coffee. We also enjoyed the front porch! A great place to sit and contemplate what the world has to offer. The kitchen seemed to be well stocked, although I never cooked a meal. There is a family room in the back of the house with a large tv. My husband was looking forward to putting his feel up in the large recliner chair that we had seen in the pictures when we rented the house. Sadly, the chair was a bit off of its hinges, so was too difficult for him to "close" after he reclined. A little thing that didn't stop us from enjoying the rest of the house.

There are four bedrooms in this house. The beds are a lot firmer than either my husband or I are used to ~ so sleeping wasn't as comfortable as we had hoped. But, the bedrooms are large and go along with the cabin feel of the house. The walls are adorned with pictures that the owner took from his travels all over the world. They were fun to see! Speaking of the owner, there was a bit of a mix-up with the key when we first arrived. Mike answered our call immediately and took care of everything that we needed. He was right on top of things and did everything necessary to make our Truckee vacation wonderful.

The surrounding area offered beautiful scenery and great restaurants. I would recommend Jax diner for breakfast ~ and the little shops in Tahoe City and Truckee downtown for fun browsing. It was a terrific three days. Thank you, Mike.

Great Trip!

  • 4 of 5

This was our first time staying in truckee. The house was in a great location. It was nice to have alot of room to spread out and all the beds were comphy. The yard was the perfect size for the kids to play in the snow and build a snowman. All the linens were clean and the wood burning stove was definatley the star! Just one or two logs kepy you toasty . My only issue was the quality of the pots and pans. we cooked most of our meals and there werre not enough larger pots and pans and the stove burners did not always work. We had to buy a can opener, that we happily donated to the collection, because the three that were there wouldn't even start to open a can.In my mind those things are little and would not keep us from going back. It is quirky and charming and we would definately stay there again. Mike was readily available and gave great detailed instructions so things went very smoothly. I definately recommend this place for a low key family trip!!

Cozy cabin

  • 4 of 5

Our group of 10 loved the cabin. It had all the conveniences and necessities of a home a way from home. The decor and set up is no frill, and we don't mind it all. Our only complaint was the comfort of the beds... it was very squeaky and the pillows were flat. Overall, we had a wonderful stay!
