We had a great stay! I had never stayed in this part of Truckee before, but it was nice and secluded. The view from the living room was amazing with the river and snow covered mountains. The owner was super attentive and checked on our stay. Great house, location, and winter vacation.

Thanks for the 10/10 review and your kind words, I hope you'll be back!
This is our second year staying here. Great location, beautiful view and easy access. Home is laid out nicely with room for guests in separate areas. Nicely equipped and well stocked with firewood. Plenty of dishes and space to accommodate groups comfortably for dining. We visit our kids who live nearby and appreciate the home is pet friendly and there are nice dog walk areas close by. Host is friendly and responsive. Thank you!

Yes, I appreciate you mentioning this unique feature of the house. The upstairs and downstairs each have their own living room, appliances, utensils, bedrooms, bathrooms, and outdoor access, making it possible to have separation if desired. Thanks for the 10!
We enjoyed our time there. Plenty of room for all 10 of us plus our two well behaved dogs. This is the only rental I have found that allows enough room for all of us plus two dogs There was just a little snow around. But it’s still a very pretty view with the trees river and the trains going by across the river The house was very comfortable. Kitchen was nice size as well as all the rooms. Talked to host a couple of times. Very nice. Hope to come back again

I appreciate the excellent rating, and also highlighting that this home comfortably accommodates up to 10 people plus 2 dogs, thanks!
We had a great stay! Such a beautiful home and location and had everything we needed. The only downside is the house doesn’t have direct access to the river, but we would stay here again!!

Thanks for the great review, I'm glad you enjoyed the house, and I hope to have you back!
Yes, it is important for prospective guests to know that landowners along the river are now vigorously enforcing no trespassing. Access to the river from the back yard of this house is not legally possible as there is private property between it and the river. However, it's only a 100 yard walk from the front door to the Hirschdale Bridge where the public may legally access the river. There is also a really nice 100 acre parcel 1/4 mile (10 minute walk) from the house which provides public access to the river, a beautiful meadow, and lots of good fishing water!
This house was wonderful. Even with the construction it was still quite enough you could hear the river. The Master suite upstairs was very comfortable.

Thank you for the 10/10 review!
Yes, for future guests, reconstruction of the bridge on Hirschdale Rd. began in 2025 and will continue through summer 2026. It is visible from the house but far enough away that the noise isn't too bad. The construction work must comply with strict noise limitations due to the proximity to residences.
Outstanding property with everything needed for an amazing week long stay over Christmas. We enjoyed this property with our adult kids and and some of our grandkids. The house was very well appointed with everything needed to enjoy our time there. The house had a phenomenal view of the Truckee River behind the house and very convenient to the 80 freeway without knowing it was just minutes away. Everything needed to cook a few of our meals was there. All nice quality as well. The bedding was extremely comfortable providing great nights sleep for all. The owner was very responsive to a few questions ahead of our stay as well as after we got there. We already looked into some dates in the summer to book another visit. After staying at multiple VRBO properties in the U.S. we found one of our favorites here.

It means a lot to know the Truckee River House is one of your favorites in the USA, and that I was able to provide a great experience for you. The views and location are two of my favorite features of this home. I hope you'll be back, to enjoy all there is offer in the non-snowy seasons. Thanks for the great review!
We very much enjoyed our family vacation at the cabin on the Truckee river. The cabin is spacious and beautiful. The views are phenomenal. The entire family had an outstanding time.

Thanks Tina! I want to emphasize that this is a great family home and will accommodate two families with kids, and/or multi generational families nicely - four bedrooms, three baths, two living rooms, great views from everywhere!
The house is well taken care of and in a beautiful location. I communicated with the property owner a few times before we arrived and he was always quick to respond. We stayed here with extended family which included four kids ages 6-9. The kids had a great time playing in the yard and “hiking” down to the river.
Beautiful property with a terrific view of the Truckee River off the back of the house. Back patio deck was great for outdoor meals and being immersed in the natural surroundings. Very well appointed kitchen with virtually everything you could possibly need to cook gourmet meals. Bedrooms were comfortable and bathrooms were updated and clean. Short drive away from Truckee and Lake Tahoe, with close airport access in Reno. Highly recommend this home.

Thanks for the great review! Yes, the kitchen is well stocked for all you cooks :-)
The house has been designed to accommodate dogs and kids, with durable easy clean surfaces, and handles it well - leather seating, wood floors, etc.
I'm an avid skier, hiker, biker, paddler, and fly fisher. I love the mountains where I enjoy these activities, nature, peace and quiet, and the great outdoors. I invite you to stay at my home, I will try and provide you with everything you need to have a great vacation!
Why they chose this property
I spotted this small secluded neighborhood while fly fishing the Truckee River many years ago, dreamt about getting one of the homes on the river, and couple years later my dream came true. It's a great location with easy access from the bay area or the Reno airport. We also have access to the best stretch of river, nature, and a ton of activities are right outside the door - no car required! Several world class ski resorts, several lakes and rivers, Lake Tahoe and Reno are within a 30 minute drive.
What makes this property unique
This property stands out most for it's amazing location on the river and the beautiful views. The Truckee River is about 100 yasrds behind the house, there are only a handful of vacation rentals on the river and this is one of the best due to the quiet location, amazing views, and top notch fishing. There are really nice roads and trails right out the front door for walking, running, biking, and sometimes even cross country skiing! The newly completed Tahoe Pyramid trail runs right by the house and is great for biking, hiking, and river access. Other trails near the house go along the river and provide access to public land on the river as well as great views. Boca Reservoir is just a couple miles up the road, and is great for boating, fishing, swimming, paddling, biking, picnics, parties, etc. If you are into biking, there are lots of good options that can be accessed right from the house. Paddlers often put in at this location because of the wild and scenic float, the best rapids on the Truckee are couple miles down stream. Fishing is also great around here, this section of the river is more wild and scenic, and benefits from additional water from Boca Reservoir, Prosser Reservoir, and other feeder streams. If you like to be first or last on the river, nothing beats staying on the river!
