DESCRIPTION:

Cozy river front home with beautiful sweeping views of the Truckee River and mountains. A hidden gem in a secluded and serene neighborhood. The house has recently been remodeled with modern mountain style finishes and furnishings, and is fully equipped with everything you should need to relax and enjoy the mountains. Some of the best fly fishing water that the Truckee River has to offer is right in our backyard, and the river can now be fished year round. There are several other good fisheries nearby including the Little Truckee River, Boca Reservoir, Stampede Reservoir, Prosser Reservoir, Donner Lake, and Pyramid Lake for large Lahontan Cutthroat. Fly fishing, Skiing, Paddling, Swimming, Biking, Hiking, and more, all right outside our door.

UPSTAIRS BEDROOMS: sleeps 8 people. 3 Bedrooms: one king and two queens, plus bunk beds. 2 Bathrooms: whirlpool bath and shower in master bedroom, shower in guest bathroom. This level is perfect for 3 couples, a romantic spacious getaway for two, ideal for families with kids, and group retreats.

UPSTAIRS KITCHEN: Full gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops, all new stainless steel appliances including: gas 5 burner stove top with griddle, dishwasher, side by side refrigerator, oven, and microwave. Lots of pots and pans, cooking utensils, and small appliances such as toaster, coffee maker, coffee grinder, mixer, blender, slow cooker, and more...

UPSTAIRS LIVING ROOM: 40” flat screen TV, deluxe cable package with DVR, Stereo CD player, leather sofa and recliner plus a sectional sofa for lounging in front of the fire (2 day beds). AMAZING VIEWS of the Truckee River and mountains.

UPSTAIRS DINING AREA: connected and open to the living room and kitchen, large rustic table with benches seats eight comfortably, views of the Truckee River and mountains.

UPSTAIRS DEN: original rock fireplace from the 1890's with a daybed, rocking chair, and work desk with chair.

UPSTAIRS DECK: a large wood deck added in 2005, with amazing views of the river and mountains. There is a dining table with umbrella with seating for 6, plus 4 lounge chairs. The deck is gated - good for keeping small children and dogs contained. Because the house is built into the hillside, the back deck is on the 2nd story with stairs down to the back yard.

FRONT ENTRY: Remodel completed in March 2013, heated concrete steps from the driveway to the front door so you don't have to shovel snow. Covered metal grate bridge, and covered patio with seating and firewood storage. Moss covered granite boulders and native plants are spread through the natural landscape. Chunky wood post and beam construction with concrete and metal work update this attractive new addition.

DOWNSTAIRS LEVEL - RECENT RENOVATION COMPLETED - MODERN MOUNTAIN STYLE. New amenities downstairs include 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom, with beds for 4 people (2 on a king bed in the bedroom, and 2 on twin XL day beds in the living room). The bathroom is all new with a 2 person shower and heated concrete floor. There is a big open living room with views of the river and mountains, a new fireplace, bar / kitchenette with seating for 4, a sectional sofa in front of a rock fireplace with a 46” flat screen TV, deluxe cable package and DVR. A very nice new full size pool table completes this large open living room. All new furnishings throughout!!!

OTHER AMENITIES: forced air heat, and endless hot water supply (tankless) so everyone can have a hot shower or soak in the whirlpool bath after a day of skiing. Washer and dryer, local phone service, and high-speed wireless internet.

About Riaz Finnemore

We are avid skiers, hikers, bikers, paddlers, and fly fishers. We love escaping from the city to our home in the mountains to enjoy some peace and quiet and the great outdoors. We invite you to stay at our place and we will try and provide you with everything you need to have a great vacation!

Riaz Finnemore purchased this house in 2002

Why Riaz Finnemore chose Truckee

We spotted this hidden gem of a house while fly fishing the Truckee river. It's in a great location with easy access from the bay area or the Reno airport. The neighborhood is small, secluded and quiet, and right outside the door we enjoy nature and all of our favorite activities - no car required!

What makes this house unique

Aside from the obvious benefit of having the Truckee River right in our back yard, there is a really nice fire road just 100 yards from our front door which you can walk, run, bike, and sometimes even cross country ski! It goes along the river for a few miles and provides access to different spots on the river as well as some great views! We also have Boca Reservoir just a couple miles up the road which has boating, fishing, swimming, camping, biking, etc. If you are into biking, there are lots of good roads and mountain bike trails right outside the door. Paddlers tend to put in near our house because a couple miles down stream are the best rapids on the Truckee. Fishing is also best on our section of the river as we benefit from additional water from Boca Reservoir and other feeder rivers. If you want to be the first one or last one on the river, nothing beats staying on the river! If you enjoy skiing then you will enjoy missing all the traffic going to the Lake as we have the reverse commute, and we are also closer to I80 when you want to head home! If you enjoy quiet and nature then this is the place, there is plenty of wildlife just outside the door.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our stay at your Truckee River House was great. Very different from our usual family vacation (we usually go to a lake). There is more than enough

to keep any family entertained. The pool table was a big success and the large area to play family games was also great. Lots of walks, watching

deer and other little creatures. We also did the river rafting and a tour of the Tahoe area. The house was more than accommodating for 12 people and we enjoyed the patio and outside area. Would be a great place in the winter also. Thanks again for the use for your home.

Family/Pet friendly Home

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking for a home that is family friendly and pet friendly, this is the house. There are children books and board games. There are doggy gates that you can use to block them off if needed. The kitchen is spacious and has pretty much everything you need. We cooked everyday while staying there. There are sleds that you can use. It takes about 5 minutes or less to/from the freeway. Riaz, the host was very responsive. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Home for a Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The Truckee River House was amazing and fit 12 people comfortably! The home was modern, large, well maintained, clean and accommodated everyone. The kids loved playing in the snow right off the patio, family members relaxed and enjoyed the upstairs cozy living room, everyone loved the pool table and some of our guest also enjoyed the lower level which acted as their own separate getaway. Kitchen was stocked with plenty of amenities (dinnerware, utensils, pots/pans, bake ware, seasonings, etc.). Backyard had amazing scenic views of the river and snow and luckily we were able to capture plenty of photos of our memorable trip. Our trip included a visit to Reno and Northstar Ski Resort and the home was conveniently located in between so the traveling time to both destinations were very minimal. Riaz quickly responded to all my questions about his home so he made planning very easy for us. Definitely would recommend the Truckee River House and we hope to plan another trip in the warmer months!!

Great cabin, gorgeous views, friendly owner

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Riaz’s cabin, and would love to go back! It was clean, comfortable, spacious, with modern amenities like nest thermostats and radiant floor heating in the bathroom. The kitchen had everything we needed. Loved the puzzle and games closet, and kids bookshelf too! Thanks for sharing your great cabin.

Very homey and rustic getaway

  • 5 of 5

We just spent 8 days in December at this lovely and comfortable Truckee River House. Our family consisting of 6 adults and 3 teenagers had a great time and especially enjoyed the snow fall just before Christmas! This home has a lovely sunny living room where you can watch the sunrise and can hear the Truckee River running below. The views of the mountains and countryside were so relaxing and the wood stove in the living room kept us all warm. The guys enjoyed the pool table and we all watched the local fishermen wading downstream to fly fish. The kitchen had all of the pots and pans necessary to cook, bake, grill etc. Even though it was 16 degrees at night the home is well heated and there are plenty of extra blankets for those cold nights. Thanks Riaz for the hanging party lights at the front entrance which made the house feel even more cozy. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice review. I upgraded the front entry landscape with boulders, plants, a dry creek bed running under the metal bridge, and hung those party lights last year, I'm so glad you like it. I have even bigger plans for the rear yard coming soon. I've also contracted with a new high quality maintenance and cleaning company which provides luxurious linens and all the little toiletries you find at nicer hotels. They also provide the highest quality cleaning and maintenance inside and out that I have found from any company servicing the Truckee / Tahoe area. I'm very excited to offer this level of quality to my guests. I'm glad you enjoyed the house and hope you will be back soon, thanks again!

Wonderful location spacious home

  • 4 of 5

This location is just beautiful. Relaxing but so much to do as well. We took our teens on a trip here and they had so much fun playing in the snow. The house is spacious and the pool table was so much fun. The veiw from any of the windows is beautiful. The fireplaces work well and are nice to have while chatting around. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Would have been an easy 5 stars except the kitchen could really use a deep clean.

Owner's Response: Hi, I'm so glad you enjoyed the house! I just switched cleaning services after visiting the house last week. I agree with you, my previous service was not doing a good job. Rest assured this has already been addressed, I believe you will give 5/5 stars for the level of cleanliness with my new service!

Great place for families

  • 5 of 5

The River House is so accommodating. We had two families (total of 5 kids) and were very comfortable. Kids loved the pool table and ability to all bunk together comfortably downstairs. Kitchen is dated but nice big fridge and decent sized stove. The living and dining areas are great gathering places. Unbelievably gorgeous with the morning sun.
