Perfect spot for our family and older dog!

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived late at night, the house was easy to find and the heater worked quickly. My daughter said it smelled nice, like someone just baked cookies (!). We loved the bunk bed room, which was perfect for our kids ages 7 to 10. They loved playing in loft above the master bedroom. There were plenty of nice soft towels for the hot tub, which worked well. The extra large washer and dryer were really helpful for drying clothes after a day playing in the snow. The house has a fairly level driveway and very few stairs, which was good for our older dog. We had a great stay!

Adorable cabin in a Great Location with all the comforts of home

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is absolutely adorable and is centrally located to Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Boreal, Sugar Bowl, and Northstar ski areas as well as downtown Truckee and even Reno which is 1/2 hour away if you are craving casino fun and/or nightlife. My parents, two teenage children, husband and fur baby (Beni our mini Shihtzu) stayed here for 4 nights over the holiday break. While there was little snow, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the area and time at the cabin, especially the Hot Tub after a day on the ski hill. The owner has thought of everything. It is evident this second home is well loved. From all the lovely custom moose-themed items, lamps, lighting fixtures and electrical covers, furniture, candles, and rugs to the well stocked kitchen and baths with toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, Tums, shampoos, soaps, lotions, razors, beach towels, Advil, feminine products (thank you-I borrowed some) and so much more. While we usually bring everything we need, it was sure nice to know something was there if in a lurch. And the backyard was just lovely. While we were a bit disappointed there was no snow, we sure enjoyed the fact that the snow hadn’t covered up the beautiful backyard. I would imagine this is where one may spend most of their time if visiting during the warmer months. I have nothing negative to say about this place which is why I gave it 5 stars. However, there are a few things to keep in mind as a renter and I’d like to offer as feedback to the owner such as 1) the bunk beds in bunk room are very wobbly and creak a lot, my children chose to sleep on the couches 2) the couches are definitely high quality but are getting worn with a “boingy” spring in one cushion 3) there is only a 4 person eating table and 2 barstools which is a bit small for a family larger than 4) there is only one couch and one loveseat which again can get cramped, looks like 2 more smaller scale comfy chairs could possibly be added 5) the 38” tv is a bit small in its dated armoire...the wall is huge and would fit a nice wall mounted big screen tv and 6) very dim lighting throughout which is great ambiance but hard to see i.e. cooking or working a puzzle. With these few things being said, these are not meant to be complaints by any means and we knew some of this going in. And I am sure the spring, summer and fall months make up for the shortage of space with indoor/outdoor availability for entertaining.

Lovely cabin in excellent location.

  • 5 of 5

We just returned back to sunny Florida last night and are sad we couldn't stay in Truckee longer. The cabin was in an awesome location, and was set up perfectly. There were so many things to do, and we didn't have time to do them all. We were able to ski and snowboard Northstar, which was better than expected since there hasn't been much snow this year. Downtown Truckee was charming with tons of unique shops and good restaurants, and there is always Reno with night entertainment, gambling, and restaurants. We took so many pictures in some of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Rainbow Bridge for a family picture is a must! The summers here are supposed to be even better. When we return to Truckee, we will definitely try to book this cabin again! It is very kid friendly, and if you have dogs, you can bring them, with kennels and doggie blankets ready for them. Debbie has been great through the entire experience, making our Christmas 2017 one of the best!!!

Surreal.....

  • 5 of 5

August 23, 2016 my life partner passed away in my arms here in Donner Lake. There were 3 dear friends of Laura who were with me those last few days. On this first year anniversary they asked if they could come up and spend it with me for in their hearts they still felt that connection to her. I decided to rent a vacation home and it did not take me long to find Debbie's private Idaho. The photos are wonderful but the house and all that surrounds it is amazing but more importantly it is the energy that one feels when you first walk into the house. You just know it was all meant. The back yard is like a secret garden and regardless if you are sitting by the fire pit or laying in the hammock looking up at the stars, the universe and all it's silence will wrap itself around you if you allow. For the girls it was a place of peace that brought forth the reality that my girl was their link in the friendships that were being formed and now it is me that will keep that connection. For me I believe Laura guided me to find your home and though this year has been all the "Firsts"coming so soon after her leaving, this was meant to be. One last note. Before Laura passed away I made her promise that she would let me know she made it. She died at 8:41am that Tuesday morning. That night as I was talking with my bff and staring out at the lake I looked up and noticed this one star shinning brightly in the sky all alone. I kept staring and then a few moments later another shined through directly under it. I kept staring and a third star shined directly under the other two. I realized at the moment it was my girl and our pups Morgan and Prior. They were all together and that brought a smile. The time was 8:05pm and for one hour no other stars shined. This happend for exactly one month after. Later did I find out that those lights were Saturn, Mars and Antares and were perfectly vertical lined. This year as I laid in the hammock staring up, I saw in between the trees the first star, then the second and finally the third and this time they were perfectly horizontal but only for a few minutes. That was magical. The girls want to make this a yearly event and asked me as we all sat outside having dinner and sharing wonderful wines. I only smiled and remained silent. Regardless, I know they will return to your house with or without me and remember that special link that remains in all our hearts. Thank you Debbie for sharing your home with all of us including my Laura.

Awesome and relaxing stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a really nice time here over Labor Day weekend. This lovely cabin is everything as advertised and more! The owners take pride in keeping their home beautiful, clean, and well maintained. It was so great coming home after a day of activity and relaxing on the comfy couches on the deck with a glass of wine, listening to the waterfall, and enjoying the jacuzzi. It doesn't get much better than this!
