House, 4 Bedrooms + Sleeper Sofa queen size, 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)
The Town of Emerald Isle lies on Bogue Banks, the southernmost island of the North Carolina Outer Banks. Our house is located at the secluded western end of the island known as 'The Point'.
It is a 4-bedroom, 3.5 bath home on a corner lot. with hardwood, tile and carpeted floors, Anderson windows, four Covered Decks (2 upper decks with Porch Furniture, front lower deck with porch swing). Time Warner provides cable, phone and high speed internet access.
The double carport on the ground level is deep enough to accommodate four cars. On the rear of the house, under the lower deck, there is a tiled patio with patio furniture, swing and 4-burner gas grill. It is a great place to relax while watching others play 'kick-the-can' or while preparing the 'daily catch' on the grill. Adjacent to the patio is a private, enclosed hot/cold shower with an enclosed changing area. After a day at the beach, this is a stop that shouldn't be missed.
At the front of the lower level, the door opens to a tiled foyer, with french doors left and right leading to identical master bedrooms. Each has a king bed, a full bath, a large walk-in closet, a TV and DVD player. Each is perfect for a quit retreat after a busy day or simply for a quiet night's sleep. Beyond the foyer, though another set of french doors, is a large, carpeted 20' X 14' living area with 52' LCD SONY TV and Blu-ray DVD player with Netflix and other streaming applications. A third bedroom has a queen bed, double closet and a TV and DVD Player. A fourth bedroom has 2 twin beds, a double closet and a TV and DVD player. These two bedrooms share a tiled bath across from which is the laundry area with a new washer and new dryer.
One of the main attractions is the upper level with its open floor plan. Vacations are for gatherings and conversations and laughs and this allows everyone to share some time together. At the top of the stairs is a dining table that seats eight. Across the room is a very well-equipped kitchen and pantry separated form the 'dining area' by a breakfast bar and eight bar chairs. For those who have been guests before, you will recognize this as the site of our annual 'pancake eating contest'.
In the front of the room is a sitting area with sofa and chairs that surround a tiled fireplace with gas logs, a 47' LCD SONY TV and Blu-ray DVD player also with Netflix and other streaming applications. Surround-sound stereophonic equipment with iPhone connection completes the set-up. On the front, sliding glass doors open onto a covered deck with porch furniture. It is from here that the spectacular views of sunrises and sunsets and the sweeping picture of ocean and inlet makes this one of my favorite spots.
Another set of sliding glass doors open onto the back covered deck, also equipped with porch furniture. This is a particularly quit spot, protected from the ocean breeze, with views of the sound. We have taken advantage of this for a number of quiet, relaxing 'dinners under the stars'.
There is a choice of access to the beaches. Go left to the walkway that will take you over the dunes or go right to the broad expanse of 'The Point'. Either way, you have open space enough for picnics, games and even a touch of solitude.
Keywords: Second row house; corner lot, four quiet bedrooms on 1st floor with central family; spacious well-equipped kitchen and dining area on 2nd floor with open floor plan for great vacation get-together.

About Bill Finn
Former Physician at the University of North Carolina; currently active as Medical Consultant. Together with my wife, serve as Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor, respectively of a Medical Journal; non-medical interests include the NHL Carolina Hurricanes, Oregon pinot noir and nine grandchildren.
Bill Finn purchased this House in 2001
Why Bill Finn chose The Point
It was the grandchildren - spread across four states. I wanted a place they could all visit to get to know one another and have memories of 'summertime at the beach'. When I toured 'the Point' I knew that this was the spot. Little traffic, safe streets, easy access in one direction to the beach along the shoreline and as a bonus, the ever shifting sands of 'the Point' itself in the other direction. I didn't think it could be any better.
What makes this House unique
The open floor plan of the 2nd floor allows everyone to be together for meals and socializing. At the same time, with the 1st floor family room and 50" TV, there is ample room to spread out. The four bedrooms are not directly under the upstairs 'great room' and as a result are quiet and a place of your own - even with a full house.

Best way to describe it - Perfect!
I had the opportunity to organize a reunion with sisters and cousins that we refer to as a ya-ya gathering. The word that kept coming up to describe our stay was perfect. The house provided everything we could ask for and more. We spent most of our time on the porches with coffee or wine, or at the beach. Thank you for providing such quality beach chairs. This is an example of many of the details that are considered for a wonderful stay for guests. The overall experience has set the bar for future ya-ya gatherings. I can't wait to book the house to share and make memories with my immediate family. Thanks for the hospitality the quick responsiveness to all of my questions.
Thank you for your kind comments. But remember, the real keys to a 'perfect' vacation are the people your are with.
Loved! Loved! Loved!!!
The views are great from all porches. The kitchen/living/dining area is great for everyone to be together. The bedroom level worked perfect for us. While the future bride and her attendants were being entertained on the top level, my husband enjoyed the tv area on the bedroom level. Bedroom level lets one retire for the night without being disturbed by those still up on the upper level. It is a quick walk to the ocean. You can see the point and the activity going on there from the top deck. From the back deck you see the coast guard station. Convenient to great shops and dining but a neighborhood feeling. We loved our week there.
For the new couple:
By William Shakespeare
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
Great week in beautiful home!
Beautiful home with all the amenities! Close walk to beach. Wonderful family vacation..will be back!
Thank you. Making friends is part of the VRBO experience.
The Perfect Home Away from Home!
While this was our family's first stay at the Finnish Line, we hope it will not be our last. This property will not disappoint....it is wonderfully comfortable and beautifully decorated.
The master bedrooms are large with sitting space for reading or watching TV. You will not feel crowded or disappointed in this home. The large, open plan, upper level incorporates the kitchen, dining and living spaces and will accommodate a large number of people. The kitchen is amazingly equipped and had everything needed for meal prep, from an instant read thermometer to a rolling pin and all the pots, pans, and baking sheets a non-vacation home would likely have. There are beautiful views of both the ocean and sound from the upper level front and back decks. During our stay, my husband spent many hours on the front upper deck reading and napping. We enjoyed drinks and appetizers on the front deck and made homemade ice cream on the back deck.
It is clear the homeowners want your stay in their vacation home to be a positive experience. The property was immaculate and the owners quickly responded to any questions or concerns.
Think you so very much for your kind review and such nice compliments. We do try to keep our house as comfortable, updated, and well-equipped as your own home. We hope that you will come back again and again!
Many thanks, The Finns
We've been staying at Finnish Line for several years and absolutely love the place. the house is furnished beautifully and very comfortably. The views from all around even make cooking a pleasure! Hope to be able to enjoy the house in the future.
We love the Finnish Line and this was our second stay. We chose another beach and location to try last year and regretted it. The minute you walk in the house is clean and bright and has all the amenities you could wish for. Lots of space for everyone, easy short walk to the beach, and comfortable beds. We'll be back!
