Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This stunning 4 Bedroom house has wonderful views from all bedrooms and living space. Completely renovated with new Maple hardwood floors, complete kitchen with granite countertops, new plaster, woodwork, windows, staircase and furniture. Two full tiled bathrooms with showers and the downstairs bath is ADA compliant. Each of the four bedrooms has a full size double bed.

Whether it is looking out the bank of windows facing the ocean or observing the Eagles that perch on a close by island, or watching your neighboring lobstermen's activities on their wharfs or on their boats; there is always something interesting to see. Located on Perio Point, you are in perfect position to stroll around the genuine and friendly village of Beals. This is an excellent place for a fall foliage, Thanksgiving, or Christmas getaway.

Purchase your ocean fresh lobsters from the fisherman who uses the wharf in your back yard, steam them with the outside lobster cooker, and savor them either on the picnic table by the water or in comfort inside. Whether it is Summer or Winter, sunny or foggy, warm (never hot) or chilly, once you cross the bridge from the mainland the rhythm of the tides (12') is hard to resist.

You will never lack for things to see and do. A short 5 minute drive takes you to the end of Beals Island to Wass Island where the Downeast Institute is located along with some of the U.S.'s best hiking, kayaking and birdwatching. Another short trip (about 5 miles) takes you to beautiful Sandy Beach, which is not only picturesque but great for sunbathing or a refreshing dip. Acadia National Park, Schoodic Point, Campobello Island, St. John N.B., Eastport, and Quoddy Head are all an easy and fun day trip.

From sardine museum to mustard factory to reversing rapids to tiny baby lobsters to giant whirlpools; you can see it all. And the world's best seafood. Lobster, Crabmeat, Scallops, Mussels, Clams, Haddock, Halibut, and Gulf of Maine Shrimp to either be prepared to your taste in the new and fully equipped kitchen or enjoyed at one of the excellent (and typically modestly priced) restaurants in the area.

For our guests who require handicap accessibility there is a 'to code' entrance ramp leading to the open downstairs living area. The downstairs tiled bath is equipped with a roll under sink, ADA toilet, an open shower with fold down ADA bench, hand control shower head, and grab bars. Downstairs sleeping accommodations are a full size American Leather sleeper sofa, purportedly the finest available.

The furniture has been selected for both attractiveness and comfort. There is WiFi, Dish Network Television, and a DVD player. And, of course, a game of Monopoly.

About Philip Frassica

We have owned the house next door for a number of years and alternate living here and in Vermont. We use both year round and when we are at either place, we don't want to leave.

Philip Frassica purchased this house in 2007

Why Philip Frassica chose Great Wass Island

The scenery is beautiful and the people are among the nicest on earth.

Just breathing that fresh salt air is both invigorating and relaxing at once.

What makes this house unique

Sitting outside by the water or looking out the many windows reveals a constantly changing view of waves, sky, tides coming or going, as well as boats and fishermen engaged in their work.

Small slice of HEAVEN

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful way to spend a week. The home is everything that you need to enjoy the sights and sounds of living on the water in Maine. It has been completely remodeled and there is a water view from every room. Every room has its own thermostat to let everyone sleep in comfort, and the bathroom floors are heated. I can not say enough about Phil (our host) he checked on us 2 or 3 times to make sure we had everything we needed and to give us recomendations on were the best local places to eat. If you want to experiance Maine this is the place to do it.

Love it and will go back SOON

Not your average vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Perio point for two weeks this summer. It is an extraordinary location. My father, at 88 yrs old, has some mobility issues and Phil's place made for a perfect vacation spot. The handicap accessibility was key, and beautifully integrated into a luxury house on the most beautiful coastline in America. Beals Island is a lovely, wholesome, community. Well worth the drive north of Acadia National Park. If you are looking for a place to reconnect with yourself and your loved ones, this is it. Thanks Phil, we'll be back next summer!

It's all that you expect and More!

  • 5 of 5

This is the Maine holiday location just as advertised and more. Owner Phil makes sure that you are getting what you signed up for and goes out of his way to suggest more things to make your trip enjoyable. My wife and I shared the home for a week with two other couples on separate weeks and all enjoyed their experience. Hiking is close by, lobster are available right down the road, quaint fishing villages are all around you. This is a peaceful place. Food is close by to cook at home or to enjoy in a restaurant, and some of it is rated (Helens) as the "best fish chowder in four NE states." We agree. What you won't find is many other tourists, until you day travel to Acadia or Bar Harbor. We enjoyed the less traveled north section of Acadia National Park. But don't fail to go to the Roosevelt summer home at Campobella International Park (passport to Canada). It is just up the road and wonderful. For those who love lighthouses, there are many to keep your interest.

A wonderful Holiday we will always remember.

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful home and location to spend your Holiday. Close your eyes and think of all the picturesque photos you have seen of the Lobster Fishing Communities in Maine...open your eyes, you are now at your vacation home Perio Point, Beals Island.

This is not a tourist community, this is the Maine we all search for, and if we are lucky enough we find such a wonderful place.

The location is perfect for day trips from Acadia National Park to Lubec and Eastport and all the hidden gems along the way. Hidden Gem, yes that is what this beautiful peaceful home is. We vacationed with another couple, and the house felt like home, bright comfortable, neat and clean. It has everything we needed and more. This vacation flew by, we truly did not want to leave. We all had such a fantastic time we have planned a return trip next year.

Phil is a wonderful host, he guided us thru the easy rental process and supplied us with a wealth of information for the area. Enjoy your glorious lobsters and crab rolls, while you soak in the view, we certainly did. This is the perfect place to relax, explore and recharge.

As a wise man told us "... Life does not get any better than this ... "

Thank you Phil for sharing your lovely home with folks who love Maine as much as we do. We are counting the days until our next Maine Holiday.

Live like a local, not a tourist!

  • 5 of 5

This spot allows its guests to be submerged in the local fishing culture of Downeast Maine. One of the most unique locations we've experienced. Escape to a world of simplicity, unspoiled natural beauty and genuine people! This was the perfect home base for our daily excursions. After spending just one day on Beals Island, the more popular and touristy areas of Maine pale in comparison. All the comforts of home with attention to detail and a great host made our 25th wedding anniversary special. We look forward to our next visit. This is the "real Maine"!

Gorgeous

  • 5 of 5

This home on Beals Island is a gorgeous home - perfection in every last detail! My daughter and I just loved the home and also the location - no traffic jams and parking problems here! Phil is a great host and can tell you many places of interest to see. If you enjoy peace and quiet and very interesting surroundings, this is the place to be. You can always drive where the crowds are, but you will love coming back to this home. We plan on returning next year.
