Exactly as described

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time at the Branch Lake Cottage. It is everything that it was advertised to be. The home is spacious, clean, and well maintained. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen has very nice appliances and every tool you might need. While there are some neighbors on either side, it still feels secluded and the view of the lake is beautiful. We didn't experience much boat traffic (just some fishermen and the occasional jet ski) and the lake is not overly developed so it was perfect for canoeing and kayaking. It's nice having the public beach about a half-mile away - close enough to walk to if you want but not so close as to be a nuisance. If we were to make any suggestions, it would be for a more permanent stone fire pit rather than the metal style. Thank you to Marty and John for letting us use their home. We really enjoyed it and hope to return soon.

Best Family Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

This had to have been one of our most favorite vacation homes thus far.

Beautiful from the outside and as we walked through the home at first arrival, it couldn't have gotten any sweeter. The house was immaculate and smelled of fresh linen with a beautiful flower arrangement to greet our senses.

There was a convenient foyer or mudroom as you walked through the front door where you could take off earth filled footwear and keep the stay more cleanly. We all were intrigued by the house and the layout. We have four children, two girls 11 and 12, and two boys 8 and 9. While my husband and I were a little disappointed at first to find the lake frozen, it turned out to be a glorious wonder witnessed as the ice thawed and vanished up the lake during our week's stay. We were able to thereafter take our children for their first watercraft rides out on the newly thawed lake. An experience they'll always remember.

The short drive to Acadia was extremely useful as we visited there all throughout our stay, climbing multiple mountains - summiting Cadillac and viewing the islands was something we'll never forget as a family.

I highly recommend this home to anyone who enjoys the outdoors for sure, but also to those who would like a rest away from the demands of life in a comfortable and homey atmosphere. That house and the scenery of the landscape was breathtaking. A choice for all. It is on our favorites list.

Beautiful and Spacious Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at the Branch Lake Cottage this past summer and we absolutely loved this home. We all ran around the home just oohing and aahing about how nice everything was when we arrived. We loved how spacious, clean, and equipped this home was and the outdoor amenities were fantastic as well. My children loved the kayaks and paddle boat and also the dock to jump off of. The fishing was great too. Such a peaceful, beautiful, and clean lake. We were so impressed. This home is about a 45 minute ride to Acadia National Park. We enjoyed the area so much we hope to visit again and stay at this home in 2015!!

“Our Favorite Maine Vacation Home”

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have stayed at Branch Lake Cottage each summer for 5 years now and are booked for 2015 as well. This is not a small cottage – it is a very nice 2-story w/basement home with large airy rooms that offer a fabulous view of the lake from the master bedroom, great room as well as the wraparound deck. The house is always clean and fresh when we arrive. The kitchen has modern appliances and is well equipped. It also offers a very nice grill and lobster pot for outdoor cooking. Best is the natural landscape and all the outdoor equipment: Kayak, canoe, paddleboat, swim platform and bikes. The lake is crystal clear and I hear very good for fishing. We don’t fish but locals can surely tell you the best spots. I love the night sky and can see millions of stars from the dock. Moonrise is spectacular from the lake. And… if you get a rainy day there’s a pool table, games, puzzles and books in the basement! The house is close to Ellsworth businesses that have everything you need or forgot to bring, and several very nice restaurants. Acadia National Park is about an hour’s drive depending on which portion is the target that day, and it's particularly good for hiking there. There are also two other preserves within 20 minutes of the house. The excellent hosts provide lots of info on things to do and a map book for planning your trip. We highly recommend Branch Lake Cottage.

Excellent vacation experience

  • 5 of 5

An ideal Maine vacation home. A beautiful setting on a quiet lake - space for family and friends - and fully equipped down to the fish hooks. The Williams are gracious hosts and enjoy sharing their home. This was out 8th year and we look forward to many more.
