This custom, tropical, almost at the beach house is located in a very quiet, small cul-de-sac, just past the four mile marker on Alii Drive, just around the corner from Magic Sands Beach Park.
Tastefully and tropically landscaped, this two-story, ocean-view, pool house has lots of windows to bring the ocean views and breezes in, and slate floors, a tile roof, and large pool to help you keep cool and comfortable. There is a custom rock wall surrounding the property, and room for six cars in the 2 driveways.
The upstairs level has a full livingroom, diningroom, and kitchen, complete with an entertainment area, as well as a small office area; all with ocean views and breezes, underneath a beautifully finished natural wood vaulted open beam ceiling. Two of the four bedrooms are up here; the master is 16'x20', w/ocean views, a king bed, & private full bathroom; the other is a queen at 13'x16' with partial mountain views. A second full bathroom is next to it.
A walk down the wide, open stairway, leads to an almost identical floor plan, with a few exceptions. The downstairs master, is also a king w/private full bath, does not have the same views as the one upstairs, but is cooler, as is the other bedroom downstairs, which has two twin beds. The fourth full bath is right next to the twin bedroom. All 4 of the bedrooms have their own AC unit.
The family room on this floor is basically the same as above, with lots of slate flooring but no second stove. It is cooler here than upstairs, and opens to the large, clean, enclosed, pool area with barbecue, spa, and laundry area. EACH and every room in the house has its own phone, TV with cable, and a large ceiling mounted fan with light. The only stove (a smooth top) and dishwasher are in the upstairs kitchen.
BOTH floors have their own, new, large refrigerators with ice and water dispensers, coffee makers, toasters, blenders, microwaves and counter, cabinet, and dining areas as well as tables, chairs, and sleeper sofas.
The pool area is complete with extra tanks for the barbecue, multiple dining, seating, and pool lounging arrangements. The pool is 15' by 30', in ground, 7' deep to 4 1/2' in the shallow end. I have seen kids refuse to leave the pool ( no joke ).
The spa was replaced in Dec 2004 with a larger new spa that will hold 5-6 adults. There is a large collection of different-sized mask, snorkel, and fin sets as well as toys and floats for kids, and some beach chairs, that my guests have left for their next visit.
Pool service is Wednesdays, trash pickup on Mondays and Thursdays, and yard service every other Thursday. Housekeeping/maid service is provided before and after each occupancy.

Had a great time. The fishing was really good ( Mahi Mahi, Ono, 3 Marlin at once, and several small Tuna ), and the house was really cozy for all of us. Thank you for the great conversation and hospitality.
Paul's house was perfect for our family of 9-7 adults and 2 babies. Not only was the house the perfect size and location, but it was equipped with everything we needed and then some. Paul had pack and plays for the babies and plenty of beach towels, chairs, coolers and umbrellas. We lacked for nothing. The house was spacious and well equipped for cooking in. The pool was perfect for cooling off in after a long day in the sun. The beach was a quick walk away, so we would go watch the surfers with our morning cup of coffee or watch the sunset with a glass of wine. Pall is a gracious and accommodating host. It's truly a little slice of heaven.
We rented Paul's house for a weekend staff retreat and it met our expectations.
The house was clean and everything was in good working order. Plenty of space, large refrigerators (1 upstairs and 2 downstairs) and just about everything you need to be home away from home.
Paul was generous to let us come in early and drop off our luggage and was finished cleaning by the time we came back around 3pm. We were able to borrow coolers and there were plenty of beach chairs and snorkel sets available.
We were blessed to have this place near all the hassle and bustle of Kona town and also not too far from the volcano.
Just a couple steps away from a small beach and close to the airport, which made it easy to get in and out.
Paul takes very good care of his house and treats you with respect.
Overall a great place to stay, wether for business or for family vacation.
We hope to come back some day!
Paul's place is close to White Sands Beach and about a 5 mile drive to town.
It had lots of room for storage... 3 big fridges, 2 sets of washer/dryer and it was spacious.
We arrived early and dropped our luggage off as it was being cleaned and we came back by 3, but we didn't get the entire place until Paul was done cleaning around 7 pm. But, we appreciated that the place was nice and clean. The area around here was nice and quiet and a 5 minute walk to White Sands Beach. The highlight of his place is the pool and hot tub. They were nice and clean and very new. There were 2 big picnic tables near the pool...not a lanai but a nice amount of outdoor space. There were a few smaller tables that were rusted and the area of the pool was fenced in.
Some of the toilets and were rusted and there is a small leak in the kitchen. No biggie for us but it could use some updated ones. Bedrooms were a good size and the air conditioners in them were helpful except for the bright sun in the morning as the curtain stays part way up if the air conditioner needs to be turned on. The master bdrm air conditioner needs to be plugged in to work, as the power button is broken. Most of the beds were comfortable except the master one was rock hard and the sheets and comforters could be freshened up.
There were a couple of boogie boards and the odd mask and snorkel (No flippers here). There was only one beach chair and after asking for an umbrella twice, (since the one there was broken) we received a new one. Beach towels were provided but also could use some newer type ones and a few extras as there was only one per person.
This rental could easily be a 5 star but needs some freshening up. We kept having to ask for stuff... for example a cooler, and umbrella.... and our group of 7 shared the one beach chair. I felt like the amenities on the website were listed and some of them weren't provided or in poor condition.
Paul's pool house was perfect for our extended family! We had so much room for the adults and my kids loved the pool. We woke up early in the morning for a walk to the beach at sunrise, spent the day enjoying the island and returned in time to walk to the beach for the gorgeous sunset. My husband and I love Kona and hope to retire there someday, it was so nice to share our love of the island with my family who had never been to Hawaii before.
This home was the perfect place for us. So clean and well equipped, the location was perfect to hit all the great hidden spots, and Paul was amazing. Thank you! I hope to stay here again!
Paul's place is the perfect family getaway. Plenty of room for everyone. It was great having a pool and Hot tub to relax in after a busy day. Paul made sure we were comfortable, but was not intrusive at all. Saw him twice during our week, and that was to do some chores outside. The beach was a quick 10 minute walk away, and everything else You could want was a 15 minute drive away. If I am ever lucky enough to get back, I hope Paul's place is available. Maholo Paul, had a great stay! Also thank you for allowing a later than normal departure, it was a very generous thing to do.
We had a great stay at Paul's almost perfect pool house. So much that we think it should be renamed to Paul's perfect pool house! We were 8 from age 15 to 80 and the size of the house was great. It was close to walk to Alii rd, the shoreline road and you could hear the waves from the house. Paul comes by and is great resource for things to do and places to go. We recommend any large group to stay at Paul's!
